View 1 RepliesI took some cell phone videos in the portrait position recently which translates to showing only in the horizontal position in MM or whatever editing software I have. Unlike pics, I can't find a plug in or software that will let me flip it from that horizontal to vertical (portrait) position.

Locks up or hangs during gaming. Zero activity, temps on my Strike-X drop to ambient, no Ctrl+Alt+Deletes, power button press resets, or power button hold resets. Only option is to flip the power switch on the PSU. Now, here's the kicker, when I lay the case horizontally, it works without a hitch.

6x120mm fans, 4 on the Strike-X, other 2 straight to mobo headers (fans are not LED or anything fancy)

All stuffed in a Cooler Master Centurion 590.
Now, I've ran a compliment of stress tests with the PC laying flat, no problems or spikes or anything. Furmark, Prime95, Unigine Heaven DX11, even CustomPC (a UK magazines') benchmarking suite for hours, no problems.
I've already updated BIOS for the Mobo and Video. Up to date drivers all around (as of 1/28/2012).
OK, just woke computer up from "sleep," and everything is working fine. A few minutes later, all of a sudden, the monitor screen is filled with colored vertical and horizontal lines...and nothing is working nor is there anything else on the screen but the lines. Manually, shut down and rebooted. Opened with options on how to continue. I chose Normal Mode. Computer and screen now working as they should for the last hour.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 Build 7600 and I am trying to get the touchpad scrolling to work on my Dell Inspiron 1420. I installed the synaptics drivers from their website (v10.1.8 x64) but when I go to mouse properties and click the synaptics tab it only allows me to configure the right and left click buttons. How can I configure the scrolling of my touchpad? I NEED it!
Also are there any iTunes guru's out there? I have my library all setup on my vista partition. Is there anyway I can get my library/playlists on the Windows 7 side. I don't want 2 copies of my music, I want it to all link to the files on the vista partition but I have a feeling I will have trouble either getting the playlists in or trying to gain access to those files on that partition.
I have installed the Synaptics Touchpad driver onto my new W7 install. All is working as it should, however I have a very minor problem. Whenever I logon, I am asked whether or not to run the SynTPEnh.exe process (this is the tray icon).
I was never asked in Vista whether or not to run the process, and in W7 I will always want to run it.
How do I get around this minor problem, and set it that it runs by default?
When I installed Windows 7 RC on my DELL 1520, the Synaptics Touchpad was recognized as a PS/2 compatible mouse. I missed the scroll function of the touchpad driver. Since the Windows 7 is just came out, there is no dedicated driver for it.
what can i do?
I installed Windows 7 on my laptop, and let it use the default drivers in most cases. The downside is that I lost the scroll functionality on my touchpad, which I can't see to get back any other way than using the Synaptics software.
The drivers I have on CD are quite old, but the ones from the Synaptics website seem to work fine (plus there are 32 bit and 64 bit editions):
http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers
I have a 2330s HP laptop.
Everything worked fine till 1 hour ago or something like that. Then everytime i press the left button it will "left button-click" AND "right button-click" and it actually does the same with the right button.
I have tried to see if the settings have been messed up, but no. Everything is normal. I have tried changing the usage of each button - like changing the right button assignemt to do a "down arrow" instead of a "special click", but then it just does a "left button-click" and the "down arrow"...
I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, rebooting the computer, changing the settings, used windows recovery...
I really don't know what to do. When I plug in a USB mouse, that works fine. No problems there. It is just the touchpad buttons...
i have a laptop which has a Synaptics touchpad it use to work well but few days it is not working well when im moving it but it moves slow and jumps here and there i cannot use it always moves from one place to another i dont know why.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of a conundrum. My Toshiba touchpad has developed a bad habit of disabling itself at random. The device is listed as a Synaptics Touchpad V7.2.I'll be typing along, or moving the mouse, or just doing nothing at all (waiting for a download to finish, for instance) and the mouse will become suddenly disabled. The only way to get it back is by pressing FN+F9 or sometimes to press the enable/disable button immediately above the mouse. I know I'm not pressing either of these by accident when the mouse turns off. When this happened, I took it as a sign that it was time to reformat the hard drive and start fresh. Even during the Windows installation, the mouse continually disabled itself. After installing the Toshiba Value Added Package and the Synaptics driver, the only change is that now I can see a big icon in the center of the screen alert me when the state of the mouse switches from enabled to disabled.
I'm noticing now too that it's not just disabling itself. If I don't re-enable the mouse right away, it will renable itself after a few moments. This can happen as much as once every few seconds and makes getting any real work done impossible.
I have researched this problem quite a bit and tried several possible solutions that have worked for many users yet nothing had worked. I have tried several different drivers, tried tweaking settings with no solution in sight.
I am using Windows 7 build 7022.
Can anyone advise?
I have recently purchased an Acer Aspire 6530 laptop, which comes shipped with Windows Vista x86. I promptly made the restore DVDs, and installed Windows 7 x64, with no issues, except, one rather important one: the TouchPad driver does not work.
When Windows first booted, the driver that comes with Windows worked fine. You did not get the scroll functionality from the side of the pad, which is meant to act like a scroll, but it recognized movement and the two click buttons. After getting on the Internet, Windows automatically went out and found the Synaptics TouchPad driver for me.
Now, according to Device Manager, the driver will function after a restart. TouchPad works fine, go to restart, driver is applied, and.. nothing. The mouse will not move. Any USB mouse if plugged in works fine, but the click buttons and the movement on the pad do nothing.
If you go into Device Manage and uninstall the device, the TouchPad works again! It seems whatever TouchPad drivers that are loaded with Windows 7 work like a charm, besides the built in scroll area, work wonderfully, but the driver that it automatically downloads/installs on boot does not after restarting and applying that driver, even though the device is fully functional according to Device Manager.
Is there any way to FORCE the built in Windows 7 drivers, or a known fix to get the normal ones to work? Does this have to do with 64bit vs 32bit at all?
Note: I have downloaded the driver from the Acer website for Vista and ran it in compatibility mode for Vista, with no change, so it is not just the one Win is automatically finding.
Note2: I tried booting without any internet connection after disabling the driver, but Windows went ahead and installed the driver anyway. It was either still downloaded, or in fact comes with 7 and is not gotten through Windows Update, but is not installed initially? Plug and play is weird sometimes =/.
my Synaptics touchpad mouse has had a mind of its own. It has been clicking and opening files without me pressing the mouse buttons or tapping the touchpad, scrolling by itself, highlighting and moving the files on my desktop and in my computer, etc.I have tried everything from physically cleaning the Touchpad thoroughly, updating the Synaptics driver time and time again only to find no resolution to this issue, I have also uninstalled and reinstalled previous versions of the synaptics drivers that worked before with my laptop only to be confronted with this same problem.I have ran scans on both Uni-blue registry booster and PC Tools Spyware Doctor (which I use as my registry and anti-virus/spyware programs) and of which I update on a daily/weekly basis and yet I have found no traces of what may be causing my mouse to act so crazy.I have also ran the system scan in the command prompt which was suggested earlier in this thread only to find out that everything was running properly and at 100% integrity.
I have an HP dv7-3065dx Entertainment Notebook [pavilion dv7 is the product name on the back] that I purchased from Best buy in 2010. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit that was pre-installed onto my laptop. I have been pretty thorough on keeping all of my Microsoft and HP drivers up to date and have only began to experience this problem with my touchpad earlier this month. As far as the programs that I use on a daily basis; I mostly use Mozilla Firefox as a web browser and Microsoft Word for my schoolwork and the GOM media player for watching videos. None of which I have been able to do properly since this issue established itself onto my computer.
I have Windows 7 on Laptop. My mouse stopped responding in the Windows normal mode but functions fine in the Safe mode. I restarted the laptop several times but the problem remains.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy parent's Desktop was having a side x side error and i've been trying to help her get it repaired. Her problem is that none of the programs will open except for internet explorer. All other applications give the sxstrace.exe error and won't open. I advised her to hit F8 and get into safe mode so I could try and help her further. She couldn't get that to work so I had her force safe mode through msconfig. That worked and got her into safe mode and she's still getting the sxs error and can't get anything to work for her. I advised her to go back into mconfig and uncheck the safe mode boot and wait til I come home and fix it. Now the problem is when she tries opening the msconfig, she gets an error on that saying it can't open the application with the error code 0xc000142 Now she's stuck in safe mode with no networking and the computer is basically useless. I'm 800 miles from home and won't be there until thanksgiving and i'm trying to help her over the phone so im kind of limited here. I was trying to get remote assist going for her but she couldn't install that either without the sxstrace.exe error.
they're running windows 7, If i remember correctly it's the x64 version.
So this might be the wrong place for this thread but I didnt see a computer specific section so i picked this just incase it is related to my windows. Anyway the problem i am having is that every so often, more often then not actually, when my computer hibernates from inactivity, it cannot be woken up. I click the mouse, press everything on the keyboard and nothing will happen. I even try pressing the power button yet that does nothing. The power button just keeps blinking as normal when in sleep mode. I also tried Holding down the power button, in hope to force shutdown the computer but that did not work either. The only way anything happens is if i unplug the computer and then plug it back in. Unfortunately i know thats really bad for the computer but i dont really have a choice.[CODE]In addition, i have restored my computer to factory defaults, aswell as installed all the latest drivers
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy pc appears to be stuck in sleep mode. Earlier today I put my pc in sleep mode before going to the gym. When I came back and clicked the mouse the fans and lights came on but nothing appeared on the monitor. I turned the power off and turn it back on and the lights and fans come on again but nothing appears on the monitor. No boot menu, nothing. Also after turing it on, the fans and lights randomly goes off and on, usually with an interval of 30 seconds. During this nothing appears on the monitor.
I have had the same exact problem happen once before - about 4 months ago. When me and my friend tried fixing it we tried some of the following with no result:
- Using a different monitor.
- Using a different graphics card.
- Using different RAM.
- Removing dust.

- Antec 900
- Intel E8500
- ASUS P5Q SE2

The problem is I dont have a boot disk and i cant get past this screen. P.S. it happens when i turn it on, it goes to a black screen saying that.
So I am not getting any audio through my speakers anymore this happened after I unplugged my headphones but it doesn't disable that they are unplugged I open my Realtek HD Audio Manager and it shows that the front jack has headphones in when they indeed aren't. I can plug in my USB headset/mic and get sound through there due to it coming up as its own device so its something to do with my speakers in headphone mode.

View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday morning I started my laptop and it was frozen at the Acer screen. After I restarted a few times I called acer tech support. Via remote access the tech support agent was able to see that, even though I have McAfee installed, my computer had trojans and a lot of files had been affected. He told me he could fix it but it would cost $200 which I can't afford right now. So I ordered the windows 7 reinstall disc and hung up. I decided to try doing a system resore back to factory settings. I began the restore and had no problems. Then when the computer went to automaticaly restart it continued to remain stuck on the acer load screen but I found that if I left it alone for about 45 minutes it would automatically restart and continue with the restore process, adding files and whatnot. My newest problem is that the restore is stuck. It started loading Office 2010 and has been doing it for 12 hours now.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been trolling Google for about an hour now and haven't found anyone with this exact problem (which worries me a bit).My boyfriend got several viruses on his Asus desktop computer. After multiple attempts and anti-virus programs we decided that it was best to just go ahead and restore his computer to factory defaults. We backed up files that he wanted to keep then followed the instructions from the online manual (Asus CM1630 Manual page 66) to do a System Recover since we didn't have the CD.Everything looked like it was going well, no errors during recovery, but after the reboot when the recover was finished, the computer brought us back to the Recovery Window after an error "RDVD folder not exist!", an error I can't find much information on. You can click "OK" then exit out of the Recovery window, but it gives you a "Disk 0 doesn't exist", restarts, and throws you back to the "RDVD" error.
Only thing I can gather from this is that for some reason it's not writing to the partition properly. Again, we don't have the $50 CD to resintall the OS (Essentio Recovery Software). However, I did find this site that clams to have official ISO images for Windows 7: Download Windows 7 ISO (Official 32-bit and 64-bit Direct Download Links) My Digital Life I'm tempted to just burn the ISO image to a CD and try to reinstall it that way, but he doesn't have any of the paper work or anything so if those installs require an activation code, we're plumb out of luck.
If I close my laptop, half the time, the computer freezes after I put in my password. It just gets stuck on the welcome screen with the spinning wheel. It doesn't always happen, but I have to do a hard reset everytime it does. I already set the HD to never turn off, so I am just wondering what else i can do to stop this freezing?
