Dec 12, 2012cd rom is not recognized in device manager, trird editing filters in the registry editor,there are 8/9 different filters to chose from,doesent say which is upper or lower filters.dont want to mess about in the registry case i balls it up tottaly.

My situation:
I've got two PCs.
* 1st (Windows 7 x64) has two ethernet cards:
- internet is connected to the first card
- other connected to switch
* 2nd is a laptop (Windows 7 x86) with one ethernet card connected to switch
I can see many unknown PC's in network devices. They are my Internet provider other clients. I can see my laptop there as well but cannot access it.
From 1st PC I can just "join" homegroup. From 2nd - just "create".
Created from 2nd PC homegroup is not accessible from 1st pc (wrong password, even if it is right one)
So I am confused how should I set up everything that:
- both pc's can be accessible from each other
- 1st pc will share internet connection with 2nd pc.

Aug 10, 2011Whenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

Oct 19, 2011I use windows 7.When I turn on laptop (acer Aspire 5742) cannot connect to internet until I switch user and log in again. Soon as I touch any browser icon the rest of computer stops responding as well. It's only me on computer. Have virgin media security/ spyware/ virus protection. Tried CCleaner. After I switch user everything is fine.Additional info; On 16th October had great difficulty getting my emails from Yahoo. Sometimes sign-in box appeared without my security signature and different style of writing for browser remembered log-on details.

Nov 11, 2012I set a restore point 2 days ago manually. Today I have found it has been deleted and I may have to reformat because of this.I set my drive to hold 1.15gb in size for restore points. The current restore point is a mere 200mb yet it STILL decided to delete the old ones. Previously I've checked only to find 0 restore points despite the settings being adequate.It seems restore points simply don't work on my OS. They show up for a handful of hours and are automatically deleted (even the manually made ones).

Dec 21, 2011I have a Microsoft LifeCam 5000 which I use for Skype calls. The microphone has recently become stuck ON so that all room noises are picked up and played through the speakers, even when Skype is not running (it's not set to open at Startup and I always quit when I've finished using it). Lifecam was in Startup so I disabled that but still have the problem; I checked it hadn't re-inserted itself in Startup - it hasn't.The change may have occurred after I opened the LifeCam's own application to check lighting for the video image. I'm sure there's a simple solution (i.e. so the camera mic is turned off when the device is not in use) that does not involve uninstalling/re-installing - I want to be able to fix this if/when it happens again.

Sep 3, 2011i've installed Windows 7 severeral times now.whenever I use the advised install procedure for having the /users store on a secnd disk .....(during Windows 7 install)the profiles get corrupted and I get thrown back to temporary profiles.I detect no other install problem.These systems are multi user systems, so the user space isgetting rather big (unacceptable to be on the system disk)the procedure is straight forward and I can not find any error in the profileList....Clearly I have the SID.BAK profiles every time in the registry ...But however I repair I always get the error back This problem makes windows 7 as a whole unusable (CRAPPY PROFILES)Is there a way to really get rid of this problem .....ps: I run my secondary �SERS disk on: (BRAND NEW INSTALL)-the same physical disk ....... disk latency can not cause the problem -On a different physical disk (other setup/but fails as well)-32 bit 64 bit same problem

Dec 30, 2009I am home user running Windows 7 professional and have mapped a network drive (Y that points to a folder on a LaCie NAS on my LAN. When the mapping was setup, the "Reconnect at Logon" option was selected.
Now I want to permanently disconnect that mapping. I have tried:
1) Disconnecting in Windows Explorer
2) NET USE /PERSISTENT:NO
3) NET USE Y: /D
The drive disconnects no problem, but when I login again, the mapping is back. How do I get rid of this mapping PERMANENTLY?
