I much prefer to manually request the scan. However, this thing popped up by itself automatically this morning after I turned my pc on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently was doing 'maintenance' on my network and during the process, decided to upgrade the firmware on my routers/APs. All went well except that my trusty old BEFSR41 didn't survive. I tried the known fixes, but no response. So, I'm asking for recommendations. I do have wireless covered with a WAP54G, but it may be time to update that as well.Features I want are good security (inbound and outbound MAC filtering, IP Range limiting, port limiting, etc.), speed and reliability. I'm not opposed to a wireless router with ethernet ports (at least 4), but I would like the ability to turn the wireless aspect off, since I don't use it that much (at the moment).I have several machines on site, connected to an 8 port gigabit switch, which was connected to the BEFSR41, which was connected to a cable modem. Netgear is not a preferred solution. At some point, I plan to connect my TV, if that is a consideration in choice. OK, I'm rambling now.
View 7 Replies View RelatedCan anyone recommend a reliable USB wireless network adapter for a PC running 32-bit Windows 7 Professional?
I am hoping to find one for a 802.11b/g network where the drivers are not flaky and the unit does not randomly disconnect.
The WUSB600N from Cisco/LinkSys does not seem to fit into this category.
I have installed the driver. However this error report comes.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLooking for reliable and compatible Anti Virus Software on Windows 7 64x.
After reading so many posting on the ServenForums I kind of layout these are the best 3 antivirus software, they are AVG Free Edition , Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).
I had serious nightmare using AVG Free Edition on my Windows 7 x64, which constantly causing program or opening up file not responding. I honestly do not think I will go back on AVG again (Also, it takes too much memory on real time protection as well as scanning threads).
I would like to hear from everyone to see which one of the above anti-virus program is best in terms of Security Protection, Compatibilities to Windows 7 and performance.
What would everyone recommended the most ?
How do i switch off internet filters permanently

I don't use a password, but I guess it's too late for that now.I recently started using Thunderbird for my e-mail. I was using Yahoo.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been having bad luck with hard drives lately. The original WD drive in my Windows 7 i7 PC died about a month ago as a result of a brief power failure in my area. My local shop installed another WD (500TB) unit which seemed to have issues from the start (failed the WDC test utilities). So I wanted to pulse the community to see what the current story is on HD's and reliability. I have read a number of posts about quality problems with WDC but I used to see lots of posts about problems with Seagate. So what to do? Which brand or model should I be looking at to get a decent drive that won't die in a few months? This is simply for a home office desktop running Office 2010 apps and typical web browsing. I'd spend a little extra for higher reliability. Screaming performance is not really an issue.

This all started when one day my G930 Logitech headset started becoming a pain in the ass to use. I had the charging dock plugged into one of the two USB ports behind my HP ZR30w monitor. Then after a few days I began to get a USB Device Not Recognized Error constantly. Like you hear the Windows Pinging sound when you connect and disconnect a USB device all the time. Its like spamming me with the sound. I tracked it down to this USB port, Port_#0001.Hub_#0011 (which is the USB port behind my monitor HP ZR30w, it is the inner most USB on the back.I ran virus scans, spyware scans and nothing shows up, I had to rule out any fishy stuff. I have no idea how to get this error to stop showing up...it literally spams me with the error and sound when nothing is plugged in to that port...as I am typing this its yelling at me.The catch is though, this is when the USB port is empty...nothing is plugged into it...it is like a phantom USB port that is just going haywire...Now if I plug a device in to it...the device works fine and the USB Device error does not show up, but for instance in this case, my G930 headset ends up disconnecting and reconnecting and throwing me errors...Is this a bad USB port? I am running Windows 7 64bit. I tried disabling the USB port all together but it still shows that a device is attempting to connect to that port and is not being recognized. Also I have updated all my drivers, updated my motherboard, the only thing i have not done is reinstall USB controllers but i do not know how to do that. In the process of finding the problematic USB port I ended up mapping all the USB ports and their numbers so how I found out which USB port it was, was due to trial and error and finding it was the one behind my monitor.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've have this issue every since I've upgraded to windows 7 from windows vista 6 months ago. I've switched my HDD to a SSD and reinstalled windows 7 and yet it still at random times spam types the numberpad 6 non stop like 6666666. It can go on for a while like 10 to 20 minute and it stops until the next random time it decides to do it again. Restarting computer stops it for a minute or 2 and starts again. All I can do is turn off the numberpad button but it will spam the right arrow key of that 6 button, basically it's the number pad 6 that's causing the problem.
I've switched 3 usb keyboards brand new ones since this been happening so it isn't keyboard issue. I've been looking online for this issue and found no famililar issues on this. I am starting to wonder if it's because of my motherboard, cpu, rams, or any hardware failure besides the harddive and keyboard that's doing this. Currently I am using a coolermaster quick rapid pro keyboard and a razer naga mouse. My computer is a dell inspirion. Also I have Norton 360 and I've scan my pc many of times but it doesn't show any sign of virus. Reinstalled windows as well. Could it be also be rootkits?
There is no upper and lower filters on my laptop and also the dvd icon is there on my laptop but it doesnt read any dvd or cd or any data from dvd drive.
