Shutdown Script Deployed By GP Not Running

We have a GPO that has a shutdown script that runs on our XP machines, but does not run on our win7 machines.
Our DCs run Server2003.
The script is simply a shortcut to an hta file on the hard drive of the clients machines. I have checked several win7 machines and the hta files are present in the correct location.
Then shuting down an XP machine, a window appears with information for users and closes by itself after 20 seconds or closes when a user clicks on it. When shutting down a win7 machine, the window does not appear.
Does anyone know why the scipt is not running on win7 machines?

I am currently deployed in Afghanistan with the US Army. My internal hard drive crashed last week. As one can suspect, it is rather hard to get parts out here. I have a 1TB HDD that is actually a SATA internal for a desk top, but I have a dock that allows me to use it with any computer with a USB... basically an external (at this point). I have my recovery disks. I've been told there is a way to make windows 7 install to that "external" but had had no luck on finding information or instructions on how to do that. i got myself this new one half a year ago, but im having (different) crashes again... the only components i took from my old computer are 2 1GB-harddrives (windows is on a new ssd)so i dont believe it's got something to do with those 2 hdds.my computer is having bluescreens randomly while im AFK, or when im working or playing a java game or somethingalso, whenever i try to shutdown my computer AFTER IT WAS RUNNING FOR A WHILE, im having a bluescreen as well. when im restarting the PC right after booting, i dont have the bluescreen.what i have tried so far:- i installed avira and did a virus check: negative- i ran the windows memory diagnosis, which also didn't find any problem with the RAMthe 2 most common errors the bluescreen shows are:"SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION"and"MEMORY MANAGEMENT".i downloaded BlueScreenView, i am adding the screenshot of what it shows:oh the files seem to be too big, i will upload it externally:so, i dont really know what to do.i even suspected an unstable power supply since a test with an oscilloscope showed some irregularities, but im not so sure if thats the reason.edit: the entry from the bluescreen dumps says at "caused by driver:" --> ntoskrnl.exe most of the time

I have used a power option to hibernate/shutdown my desktop after (say) 2 hours. This works correctly so that the system does not shutdown automatically when I am running interactive applications. At least one scheduled weekly task (McAfee virus scan) can take many hours and I normally run it overnight. But when it is the only task running, the PC hibernates (apparently after the prescribed interval) even though the application is still running.
I do not want to change my power settings to prevent automatic hibernation completely or to lengthen the interval meaninglessly. So: Is there any other way to ensure that the virus scan is allowed to complete before the system hibernates? During a scheduled scan, McAfee has an option to run "in the background". Would cancelling that option have the desired effect?

I have a ASUS Laptop with Intel I3 processer and Windows 7 Home Premium. I recently had a forced shutdown during a Windows upgrade session. Ever since then the Boot and Shutdown times have increased to over 15 minutes. I have run the msconfig unticking all but the antivirus (Kaspersky) and it still takes >15 min to boot and Shutdown. Is there something I can do before I decide to reinstall Windows &. (I dont have a install disk.) The software came with the Computer and I have the OEM code (Bought at Best Buy)

I have two windows updates that keep failing. When i go to shutdown my computer I always have an update icon attached to the shutdown key. The download is always 1of1. Then when i reboot, the update icon is still there. I'm thinking since the two updates are failing, it has something to do with the 1of1 update not downloading properly. I went to windows update to check for new updates, and the only one is the two that keep failing. My computer just blue screened on shutdown today, winch got me thinking i really need to fix this.

Im not sure if this is in the right category, but I think it could be Windows 7 related.My Powersupply died the other day so I purchased a new one and all was fine, except when I shutdown it either freezes or carries on for what seems like forever.The only thing is that on bootup my DVD Drive and SSD have changed ports so my dvd drive is now device00 and my SSD001.

ive been getting BSODs and finally figured out how to debug it with WinDbg (x86) and set the symbols for windows but i cant read the text. ive tried reinstalling my GPU and Java but no luck. when i try to run intel driver update utility as soon as i run it i get a BSOD ive got the minidump here if anyone knows how to read it, so here you go.

I'm just installed windows 7 on my 2009 imac through bootcamp. However there are some problems. Ive noticed when i try to play something on windows media player it will tell me that my computer is running low on memory and to close some windows. Also games run poorly if at all. I suspect its a driver issue but have gone through all the auto updates etc.

As I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs.A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on Task Manager, it opens on the Desktop running in the background. I can't even access the Desktop in the background, it only shows up as I'm shutting down - closing programs that I tried opening awhile ago.

I am running into this issue of having complete access to one PC running windows 7 from another one that is also running windows 7. One of the PC's is a windows 7 pro 32 bit and the other is window 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have had them setup with public and dedicated folder sharing. But from time to time I find that a file I want to get off one or the other was not saved to a shared folder. I have been looking for a way to allow complete access from one PC to other one (going both directions). I use 2 PC all the times and it really depends on where I am in the house as to what one I am using as one is laptop and the other is a desktop. They are both on the same network. It is just one of the strange things that I have not been able to find a way to get complete file access without the use of software like Teamviewer or others like it.What I would like to do it just go to the network location in the windows explore to get the files I want from the other PC.

whenever I shutdown my computer by going on "Start" then Shutdown (Windows 7), it shutdown normally (looks normally). Then when I start the computer again Windows says it has recovered from an unexpected shutdown (BSOD) and sometimes also ask for startup repair.

Im running on windows 7 professional, i5 cpu, 8gb ramcomputer is fine when i am using it, but when i leave it for long periods time such that it goes into sleep, it automatically shuts down, and when i turn it on again it says my computer did not shut downproperly and i get to chose whether to normal start up or go into safe mode

I tried to set a program to run on shutdown, but both solutions found in the Internet are for Win XP, so in Windows 7 they failed: placing shortcuts to Start Menu > Programs > Shutdown or using gpedit.msc (it's just not present, as soon as I can see). How can I shut down the remote computer after the Remote Desktop connection was made? The clock in the bottom right-hand corner was always incorrect. He could change the time, but once he shut the laptop down and turned it back on, the time was incorrect again. I did some research online and tried many things to fix the issue, none of them were successful. So, he has just been putting up with the clock always being wrong. Then the other day when he turned it on, it wouldn't even boot Windows, and just says "time of day clock stopped".

Today i got a problem when i tryed Shut down my pc. I've shutdown my pc normally, it worked normal. It still does but i cant shut it off without BSOD. Windows recovery shutdown solution window says this:
