Shutdown Computer AFTER IT WAS RUNNING FOR A WHILE Having A Bluescreen As Well?

Jan 11, 2013

i got myself this new one half a year ago, but im having (different) crashes again... the only components i took from my old computer are 2 1GB-harddrives (windows is on a new ssd)so i dont believe it's got something to do with those 2 hdds.my computer is having bluescreens randomly while im AFK, or when im working or playing a java game or somethingalso, whenever i try to shutdown my computer AFTER IT WAS RUNNING FOR A WHILE, im having a bluescreen as well. when im restarting the PC right after booting, i dont have the bluescreen.what i have tried so far:- i installed avira and did a virus check: negative- i ran the windows memory diagnosis, which also didn't find any problem with the RAMthe 2 most common errors the bluescreen shows are:"SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION"and"MEMORY MANAGEMENT".i downloaded BlueScreenView, i am adding the screenshot of what it shows:oh the files seem to be too big, i will upload it externally:so, i dont really know what to do.i even suspected an unstable power supply since a test with an oscilloscope showed some irregularities, but im not so sure if thats the reason.edit: the entry from the bluescreen dumps says at "caused by driver:" --> ntoskrnl.exe most of the time

Computer Shuts Down(no Bluescreen)?

Jan 10, 2012

So recently i have been having this problem when my computer shuts down without bluescreen after that trying to boot back up but usualy failing. Light turn on fans turn on for few seconds and shuts again. Stressing the system does not effect this it happens at most random times idle or stressed.

So for me this sounds most likely like a PSU problem but could it be my motherboard and how could i troubleshoot this since i dont have other PSU/MOBO.And somedays this happens very often someday it dosent happen at all.

Computer Just Crashes With A Bluescreen Or Freeze

Jul 27, 2011

I am trying to uninstall my .Net framework but my computer just crashes with a bluescreen or freeze. I get the same result when I use a .Net framwork cleanup tool. The bluescreen error code is usually Stop 0x0000000A.The reason I am trying to reinstall my .Net framework is because some programs such as Nem's tools fail to launch and instead get an error saying "side by side configuration is incorrect". If I try to repair my .Net framework i get the same bluescreen.

Computer Booted Up Ok But Could Reboot Without Bluescreen?

Feb 19, 2010

am completely stuck and not sure what to do. I am a MS employee, got a free (legal) copy of Win7 ultimate under the home usage program and our internal help desk says they donupport. I have loaded many OS onto laptops at work, so know the basic routine. Computer is HP Pavillion Desktop, came with Vista Home edition about two years ago. I checked for compatibility and chose to do a custom install. On first install I forgot to eliminate the second partition that had the original image. Computer booted up ok (incredibly slow, about 15 minutes) but could reboot without bluescreen. Wireless worked, I was able to do some windows updates but knew something was very wrong, so didnattempt to reinstall programs. Printer driver loaded on its own. Re-did the custom install, this time deleting the extra partition.

Now, I can barely boot up, the machine blue screens on the way, wireless does work and it doesn recognize my home network or any other network (usually there are 3 or 4 in my neighborhood that show up). Shutting down will blue screen as well, I tried yesterday. Im leaving it up and running hoping for a miracle cure. On first attempt, I was able to capture this information. When Go To Shutdown Computer / Always Have An Update Icon Attached To Shutdown Key

Apr 16, 2012

I have two windows updates that keep failing. When i go to shutdown my computer I always have an update icon attached to the shutdown key. The download is always 1of1. Then when i reboot, the update icon is still there. I'm thinking since the two updates are failing, it has something to do with the 1of1 update not downloading properly. I went to windows update to check for new updates, and the only one is the two that keep failing. My computer just blue screened on shutdown today, winch got me thinking i really need to fix this.

Shutdown Script Deployed By GP Not Running

Nov 24, 2011

We have a GPO that has a shutdown script that runs on our XP machines, but does not run on our win7 machines.

Our DCs run Server2003.

The script is simply a shortcut to an hta file on the hard drive of the clients machines. I have checked several win7 machines and the hta files are present in the correct location.

Then shuting down an XP machine, a window appears with information for users and closes by itself after 20 seconds or closes when a user clicks on it. When shutting down a win7 machine, the window does not appear.

Does anyone know why the scipt is not running on win7 machines?

Possible To Stop Automatic Shutdown From Terminating Running Applications?

Dec 6, 2012

I have used a power option to hibernate/shutdown my desktop after (say) 2 hours. This works correctly so that the system does not shutdown automatically when I am running interactive applications. At least one scheduled weekly task (McAfee virus scan) can take many hours and I normally run it overnight. But when it is the only task running, the PC hibernates (apparently after the prescribed interval) even though the application is still running.

I do not want to change my power settings to prevent automatic hibernation completely or to lengthen the interval meaninglessly. So: Is there any other way to ensure that the virus scan is allowed to complete before the system hibernates? During a scheduled scan, McAfee has an option to run "in the background". Would cancelling that option have the desired effect?

Computer Freezes And Shutdown

Jul 25, 2012

I'm currently stuck in a hell hole, because I really have no idea what is wrong with my machine at this time. Several things I have noticed is that the crashes never happens when I'm playing video games, even high demanding ones. It's weird because it does happen when browsing the internet, and mostly happens when I'm rendering a video.
When the freezing process starts, slowly applications, one by one becomes not responding. I currently have Realtemp, and while the freezing happens, the temp was around 55F, while my TJ max is 105. In my task manager > performance, my cpu usage drops down all the way down to 1% when the freezing happens. And finally even the mouse won't move, forcing me to force shutdown. I think the computer shuts itself down after a while since when coming back home, it's in a POST situations, giving errors like no bootable device, or system fan failure.

Unexpected Shutdown When Restarting Computer

Jul 25, 2011

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 with 4 gig RAM and 64 bit system. When I restart my computer, it tends to take it around 5 to 10 minutes to actually shut down. It sits at the screen saying shutting down, and eventually does but when it starts up, it also tends to take a bit longer than normal and then windows browser gives me an error and restarts itself and then tells me that there was an unexpected shutdown. I've tried glancing for issues to no avail. I've also noticed that sometimes my USB ports stop recognizing devices but usually comes back upon restart. I've tried updating drivers but everything seems to be up to date from what I've seen. I use McAfee antivirus software which hasn't picked up any viruses as well.

Computer Freezes On Shutdown/hibernate

Aug 5, 2011

I have an ASUS G51JX-X2 laptop with 8 GB RAM (4 2GB chips). I've had this computer for about 18 months without any problems. A couple of days ago, I noticed that the computer hung up when trying to hibernate. The screen was black and the hard drive light was off, but the touchpad, wireless, bluetooth, and power lights remained on. I left it and went to work, and when I returned it was still in this state so I held the power button to shut it down. The computer started normally, but then that night when I went to shut the computer down, it did the same thing. I made some changes to disable the services at start up in an attempt to narrow down the problem and I discover that is I choose restart, the computer shuts down and restarts fine (although it sits with the screen black and the lights on for a while). It will not shut down or hibernate though. what's going on:

I thought I might have gotten a driver update so I looked at Windows Update and I hadn't gotten anything since 7/21. I did get one on 8/3, but that was after I started having problems. Using msconfig I disabled the start up services (except MS) and start up items to see if that helped and rebooted. The reboot worked, but then the shutdown failed again. I read in some forums that it might be related to the wireless, so I used the switch on the front of the computer to turn off wireless and bluetooth before shutting down - no luck. I thought it might be a problem with the memory since that's a relatively recent upgrade so I created a boot CD and ran memtest86+. It ran all night through 4 passes and no errors. I ran chkdsk on the hard drive just to be safe and it didn't find any errors. I checked to see if ClearPageFileAtShutdown was set to 1 in the registry, but it is 0. I checked to make sure that the bios is up to date and it is (version 208).

Computer Shutdown During Windows 7 Install?

Sep 26, 2011

I downloaded windows 7 from the MSDN Microsoft alliance thing that my professor signed me up for. Anyway while i was installing i got to the part where it said expanding windows files and gave a % or something. Anyway it got to 65% or so and i left the room and when i came back a minute later my computer was off. At first i thought it was probably restarting because i know that is suppose to happen. However when i waited a few minutes i realized it wasnt coming back on. So i tried to hit the power button to turn it on and i get NOTHING! What the heck happened, everything seemed it was running fine. My processor supports 64 bit and i have more than enough hardware to run it fine. I even did the adviser before hand and my system checked out.

Computer Boots Itself 5 Seconds After Being Shutdown?

Nov 17, 2012

today I was cleaning around my computer area and well was dusting where my computer sits and I pushed it too far out and it fell and hit the ground. It was on too and the monitor lost signal even though the VGA cord was plugged in...Since I couldn't properly shut it off by going to start etc etc I just held the power button till it shutdown..I thought my video card got loose so I hit the kill switch unplugged it and checked everything, but it was all fine. When I plugged it back in,it turned on and well kinda lagged on start up,more than usual...I figured everything was fine until I shut it down and after it was off like 5 seconds later it turned on by itself?? I checked my motherboard and components for any damage or cracks but couldn't find anything. Now this I do not mind,i'm just afraid that it'll cause damage to my PC or cause my motherboard to fry or something because now in order to keep it off from starting byitself I have to shutdown then quickly hit the kill switch, sometimes I dont do it fast enough and the computer slightly turns on,too fast to stop me from switching it off. Also when I hit the killswitch to off and then switch it back on.the pc refuses to start itself until I push the ON button and shutdown again.

Computer Keeps Forcing Shutdown For No Reason

Oct 11, 2010

I am running windows 7 on my hp desktop. For some reason, when I load windows, after a few minutes, out of no where while I am using the computer, windows forces a a shutdown. If I can make it to press cancel, it will cancel the shutdown temporarily but then it will come back to shut down and the second time it won't even ask me, it will just force the shutdown. Sometimes when she's really cranky it won't even load windows. Like as soon as I type in my admin password, it forces the shutdown. It's driving me insane. I thought it had something to do with norton antivirus so i contacted them and they gave me norton antivirus 11 from 10 and that did not solve squat! I did run a system restore and i scan my comp for viruses but was not able to solve the problem.

When Shutdown Is Attempted The Computer Restarts

Sep 5, 2012

I'm having a problem with my computer after a recent lighting storm. My current problem probably isn't a coincidence since after this storm my integrated rj45 port quit working too. It doesn't even show up in device manager... I've given up on that though. The real issue is when I attempt a shutdown the computer just restarts. It isn't hindering operation, but it would be nice to shutdown the computer when needed without having to switch off the power supply.

I run windows 7 professional and windows xp professional in a multiboot. Both operating systems do the same thing on a shutdown. Even if I hold down the soft switch it will restart no matter the duration of pressing/pressing once quick. BIOS is set to shutdown on soft switch hit. Like I said I had a lighting hit on the house. It made our ISR from TDS stop working on the LAN portion and killed my roomate's LAN card and mine. Pretty much points to the hardware in my opinion, but I figured I'd ask the best of em here.

New Windows 7 Install - Computer Won't Shutdown?

Oct 28, 2012

I just installed a new SSD drive along with two 1TB drives that I put into a RAID 0 configuration. Everything is running great, bootup is fast.

Weird thing is, when I shut my computer down now, windows seems to shutdown, and I hear my Hard drives turnoff, but the fans and leds on the computer keep running for about 2 to 3 minutes before they shut off. Before with my old HDD, it would shutdown windows and the computer would shutdown immediately afterwards.

I'd like it to shutdown immediately again, I sit there waiting for it to turn off as I want to make sure I don't leave the fans running all night.
