My computer does not show contents of windows, diaglog boxes when I drag them. Look like this figure: Then I verify the visual effects settings in Performance Options box (System Properties > Advanced system settings > tab Advanced > click Settings under Performance > tab Visual Effects):Note that I have the option "Show window contents while dragging" checked all the time by selecting "Adjust for best appearance" To let it show the contents, I have to do these:
1. Uncheck "Show window contents while dragging". Click Apply.
2. Select "Adjust for best appearance" again (or check "Show window contents while dragging" again) then click Apply.
when I restart my computer, or shutdown and then start it again, the problem is still: it does not show the contents of dialog boxes or windows when I drag them although the option "Show window contents while dragging" is checked.
I have been having problems with my computer not showing the windows contents while dragging. About once every 2 weeks, I will turn on my computer and that function will be disabled. So what I would do is go to Computer Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance Settings, and then check the "Show window contents while dragging checkbox.
Today however, in the last 2 hours, the function has just disabled itself 3 times already. Everytime, I go through the same process to turn it on and it just won't stick for more than an hour.
When I click and drag on the title-bar of a window the window border moves to the new location then when I release the mouse the window springs into the re-located border. This has only started to happen after I changed the partition size of my c: drive. Obviously, some setting has been changed and I have no idea as to how to reset it.
my windows does not show contents of my hard disk but linux mint do.i doubt if there is any presence of virus and i deleted all .ini files.(unwanted files).and it does not contain any softwares or any executable files. it contain only media, and pdf files.
see how in this picture: http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/re...10ab536484.jpg, in the search results, if the searched word is found inside a file, a few lines of text are show with the word highlighted. i'm using windows 7 and this does not happen for me. if a word is found in file contents, i'll get it listed in the results, but it won't show me the context of it like in the picture.
When I peek at an explorer window, if less than 10 explorer windows are open then it shows a thumbnail of each folder. If more than 10 explorer windows are open, it shows a list of the complete path to each folder. I find the list much more useful. Is there a setting to change the behavior to always show the list of paths?
My system is dragging; do I have a memory leak? I am looking for some good and relatively simple software I can use to detect a memory leak. I'm running Windows 7 and I have to reboot every other day or my physical memory gets too high and significantly slows down the PC. I have used Process Explorer but can't find programs with exceptionally high usage. Everything looks normal. In fact, it almost seems like Windows is using up memory somehow, but doesn't know it, because it doesn't seem like all the running processes add up to the total amount of physical memory in use. Do I have a memory leak somewhere? How can I tell?
Using Vista, I could copy files to another location by dragging the name of the file. On Windows 7, however, when I drag, it moves the file (removing it from the original location). Is it possible to copy the file to another drive by dragging without deleting it from the original location?
All the sudden, when I drag a window now, an about 3px thick inverted color border shows up where the window is and it drags that instead of the actual window, then places it.How can I set it so that when I drag a window, it drags the actual window?
Whenever I click on a object (a file, hyper link, for example), or if I highlight text, when I left go of the left mouse button, it doesn't let go. So if I move my mouse around, it will continue to highlight wherever my mouse goes until I left click again. This never happened until a few months ago on any Windows computer I ever used that I can recall.
This was originally happening on a Windows 7 Home Premium computer, and then I switched to a Windows 7 Professional computer last week and I experienced the same problem. I thought it would be my mouse, so this weekend I bought a brand new mouse, but the problem continues to occur.

was dragging a folder off the USB drive to the desktop. I was dragging the folder up over the "Share Burn.... " menu bar and I must have let off the mouse button. Now the folder is completely gone and I cant find it anywhere? What the H$#@. Any ideas where the folder went?
How do you drag files out of XP mode and drop them into 7, you can drag files from 7 and put them into XP mode but not the other way around how do you do this?
XP and Vista were simple to reverse, but I cannot find the settings in Win 7. I am constantly moving screens between monitors, but instead of dragging them "from one monitor" to "the other" in a straight motion, I have to drag in the opposite direction, away from the second monitor, to have it appear there.
My audio on my laptop is dragging when i am playing music or music videos on it or any videos for that matter. What do i need to do? Is there maybe something i need to download to make the audio play better?
Windows did not show any network connections in the network connections window. I tried everything that I could find online but nothing worked. As a last resort I decided to reinstall the driver for my Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit network connection. I uninstalled the old driver and then installed the latest drivers but now I get code 31 (cannot find the driver software) in device manager and the connection doesn't work.
I use Windows Explorer heavily. I am constantly moving files and batches of files from one folder to another. I have one very annoying problem with this but I bet there is a way to fix it.Here's what I do - I highlight several files in the right pane, I hold down the right-mouse-button over the selected files, I drag them over to a folder in the left pane, and then the annoyance happens. If I don't drop those files immediately into that folder, the entire list of sub-folders pops open as if I hit the little plus to the left of the folder. What makes this a major annoyance is that the folder I wanted to move into has now changed its position in the left pane because the sub-folders popped open.
Now, sometimes I desperately need the sub-folder list to open because I forgot to find the folder I needed before moving the files. It is a nice feature. However, if only I could increase the delay-time. I'd like to give myself triple the time to drop the files into the folder before the sub-folder list opens. There has to be a registry tweak for this.
When I drag an icon from the taskbar to show its pinned list, the item where my cursor is, gets opened immediately, I remember pinned list used to stay there until I clicked any item, but now it automatically opens the selected item as soon as I stop holding click.
Whenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?
I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.
I'm putting together a slide show of 3D images that I want to show on my TV next week when we have company.I would like the images to stay on the screen a little longer without having to actually create a slide show in some special application like Premiere. The Slide Show function in Explorer works great if I can control the timing.
just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management. System Specs: Antec Nine Hundred ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO

However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.
Using Windows 7 Enterprise Edition (64 bit) and Office 2010. When dragging a message from mail to the Calendar (in the lower left under the folder list) to create a new meeting/appointment, the calendar dialog will "pop under". How do I get the calendar dialog box to grab focus?
I'm Running Windows 7(64bit)Each time I boot into Windows 7 Prem (64) a open window apears requesting my username at the top of the open window to specify a a program to open it?I've clicked on note pad and I get the following information that apears, each time though it requests, or looks for a program to use to open.
I have a three monitor set up. Whenever I open up a browser, either internet explorer or google chrome on monitors 2 and 3, after a few seconds it automatically drags my browser into my main monitor(monitor 1, where my start button and status bar is located)
I face the old fashioned problem (now) in Windows 7 Explorer that, after a data backup (imgBurn) to DVD, the new DVD contents is not displayed until I cycle the tray!?
I had it plugged into my laptop when I was blowing it off and putting a copy of XP Pro on it. When it said to delete the partition, I clicked on the USB drive on accident. Now plugging it into Win 7 computer, it wants to format it. Is there any way to get my files? I have one word document in particular that has been my life's work. I had not backed it up in over 2 months.
I want to stream content over a LAN. One computer will act as the "content host" and one or more computers will act as "content clients". Is there any software that can stream content from one computer to several computers. My network contains DHCP addresses, and it is comprised of Windows 7 x64 Professional Computers. Ideally the "content streaming" solution will be compatible with Multiple Operating Systems.
ive a large folder containing approx 2000 e-mails from approx 20 colleagues ... Id like to be able to count how many from each! And how many per day, etc. This would be possible by eg exporting to CSV file for analysis in eg Excel... But how to do? Or is there a better way? (PS I'm using WLM 2011. And I dont have Outlook.)
