View 3 RepliesI just bought an HP Mini (200-4218tu) last Sunday. Now, when I tried to partition C, it was cut in half. However when I tried to format the unallocated space, it won't allow me. It said it doesn't support what I did. This case, the partition for HP RECOVERY and HP TOOLS were still intact. On boot-up, I can still press F11 for the HP recovery. Now, relying on the partition recovery, I decided to wipe C and install a trial Windows 7 ultimate just to be able to partition the drive. Success! I was able to create a partition but the HP TOOLS got wiped out too. I did a research that the HDD supports only 4 partitions. And the drivers downloadable via HP site were not useful at all to be able to override the OS installation. Thus far, when I tried to press F11 for the recovery, it prompted an error that the "BOOT" thing was not found and I need the recovery disk. Even upon OS set-up, I can no longer delete C. And bring it back to its 400Gb clean space.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt was working great and I noticed that it would not recognize an external drive I was going to install some progs from, even though I can go in to Admin Tools and see it there, and then I tried taking it online and it says Windows Explorer not responding all the time, so I think the best bet at this point is to restore it back to out of the box condition.I just started tweaking on it, so it's not like I'll be losing much work.

I'm trying to do a complete system reset on it to wipe everything and bring it back to factory settings. The computer doesn't have a cd/dvd drive. I don't have an external cd/dvd drive. The computer doesn't have a restore partition. From what I gather I need to download or create the iso for Windows 7 Starter.I can't find this iso. I can find the iso for home premium and professional, but not for starter.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 620 for my mum and dad and in the past when the system is running slow or encounters problems I back up everything on to an external hard drive and run a factory restore for them. However i'm struggling to establish how to run a factory restore on the new computer? I've pressed F8 when the machine boots up and selected 'Repair your computer' but the only recovery options I have are shown in the image below:
Looking at the 'Disk Management' page I can see a partition called 'RECOVERY' so i'm assuming that I can do a factory restore? One thing that is concerning me though is that Dell have provided a Windows 7 DVD and Drivers and Utilities DVD so i'm worried that i'm expected to reformat the hard drive and install from scratch?
Dell inspiron 580 running Win 7, I cannot access DFIR using normal keystrokes. When I hit "repair Computer" it loops me back to same screen. Is there any other way of retrieving this program? The handbook says it is on a hidden partition on the hard drive.

After the reinstallation, when it automatically reboots, the screen starts up where I can press F2 or F12 for boot options but after that and windows logo, it stays on a black screen.
For a little background history, the desktop had a power supply die and I bought and added a new PSU. After that it worked until viruses on my computer forced me to reinstall windows.
