My son broke the connector for the headphone inside my laptop. Now the speaker array will not work because it is muted when headphones are in. Is there a way to usurp the headphones so that I can get the speakers to work again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust built a new rig, having this issue with my Gigabyte 7970 GHz Edition.In my power settings I have it set to turn the monitor off after 15 minutes. The issue is that when I return to my computer, it doesn't regain the connection. Tested with both HDMI and DVI inputs, same issue. Doesn't matter if I disconnect and reconnect the monitor, nothing. Only way to solve it is by forcing a restart.

When I start normally gets to the multi-colored flag (windows loading screen) and sits there for about 30 seconds to a minute than it either restarts or goes to a black screen and than it has yellow letters surrounded by a small blue rectangle saying "Out of range" I don't know what to do, but what I do know is that I can boot my computer into safe mode which I'm in right now (safe mode with networking)

Under Vista, I was able to set Power Options so that the computer would go to sleep/hibernate when I close the lid. That works in Windows 7.
However, I was also able to set the Power Options so that the laptop would wake up and restore Windows when I opened the lid. So far, I have been unable to set that behavior in Windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a Dell MFP1600n laser printer given to me a while back (Praise the Lord) & it came at the right time as I was destitute then & couldn't afford cartridges for a Canon I960.Here's the rub.There was no problem connecting & using the printer with a wired connection to a Linksys WRT54GS & a wired XP Desktop & a wireless XP Desktop (both older 86X systems).Though the 64 bit, wireless, Windows 7 laptop connected through the same router to the internet. As usual, it would not & still does not "see the XP machines". It also would not, through multiple configurations, connect to this printer.At first I tried to update the driver, but Dell only had XP 32 bit available. After hours & days of wasted time with "Add printer", I resorted to using a flash drive for the few times I needed to print something from this infernal Windows 7 machine.
I finally wondered if my head was stuck in the "soon to be obsolete, XP mode".'know, this isn't the first time Microsoft has Pi**ed me off & I understand that we are all "beta testing" a product that we have paid several hundred dollars for. I also understand the reason for security, but I don't want to spend 50% or better of my time trying to use an OS that cannot tell ME from a scumbag intruder. There are AV programs for that...As it came installed on my laptop (& of course I received no restore or install disks whatsoever with it), I'm stuck with trying to repair, rather than reformat. Unless I wish to pi** away a bunch more money to Microsoft.
I have a Dell E6400 Latitude laptop and I've been having issues with the wireless connection. Hopefully you guys haven't answered this question recently, I couldn't find anything when I searched.
Anyway, it says that Windows Wireless Service is not running when I try to troubleshoot my wireless connection. It doesn't give me the option to try to connect or anything. I've tried downloading the latest drivers for Windows 7 32-bit on Dell's driver's page related to Wifi 5300 and LAN to no avail. I've also tried to start WLAN AutoConfig through Services but I get this error: Error 193: 0xc1.

However, since yesterday, the laptop just won't turn on. The power supply is on but the laptop won't start. I have tried 3 power adapters but it's the same result.
One of my hinges is damaged and I can see a wire inside - maybe this is the cause of the problem? I read that on some laptops there's some switch underneath the touchpad that does something but I don't have a clue.
