View 7 Replies View RelatedYou search google, click on a result, and then either backspace or click the back button, but instead of going back to google, you stay on the current site. Why does that happen, and is there anything to do about it?Using IE 8 32-bit in Windows 7 64-bit here, but have been seeing this problem for a long time with previous versions.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy current error is "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Inser Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". I took a picture of two different messages that appeared previous to this continuous message. If someone is able to help I can text or E-mail the pictures of the previous errors. I am on a laptop at the moment and the computer that is sick is my desktop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 continues to revert back to the old wireless profile despite me deleting all old wireless profiles. Wireless adapter is Edimax EW-7128g, newest drivers for Windows 7 64bit First set up a WEP profile the usual manner by connecting using the bottom-right wireless networking widget; "Save this connection", yes. Works right off the bat, first time Needed to switch to WPA on router for better security. Same router. Done. Entered new credentials using the same wireless networking widget. Works fine first time, right off the bat. Computer enters sleep mode overnight. Upon a wake (or restart, or cold boot) - Windows 7 reverts back to the old WEP profile. I go into "Manage Wireless Networks" I select the profile from the list, hit DELETE. Removes it from the list. ADD new profile, supply proper WPA credentials, "Save this connection". Works fine. Manage wireless networks displays proper information (WPA security) Restart, or reboot, or logoff. BOOM. Back to using the old WEP profile!Tried this using Administrator account and user account. Same behavior. Workaround is to change the security type credentials or delete & create a new profile every time windows is rebooted/logoff/restart. I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I am not using the vendor's connection utility. Windows cannot remember the new connection profile and despite me deleting the old one ... continues to revert back to it.

Access denied, file in use, You don't have permission. Something thinks these files are in use and they are not. If you reboot the computer they all clear but it comes back on different files. It is not a permission problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm using a microsoft wireless mouse wheel to scroll through web pages on IE9 and win 7. I set its speed to the lowest possible in control panel and it works fine.
When i restart my laptop, the speed is back up to full when i scroll, but when i check in control panel >mouse settings, the speed shows that its still set to the lowest setting. I move the slider, click apply and it works again.
how i can get my mouse wheel speed to be consistent between reboots?
When browsing a website that I have pinned to my taskbar (Facebook for example) I've noticed that the pages take longer than usual to load. When it does load, the page becomes very choppy when I'm scrolling up/down and is generally slow to respond. It's the same for any website I have pinned to my taskbar.
The strange thing is, If I open up IE9 (non-pinned) and browse using the address bar everything is smooth and fast. I've cleared my temp internet files and reset IE to default settings with no luck. I've also tried un-pining then re-pinning website but it's still the same. Is there a way I can clear the cache for individual pinned sites?
I accidentally deleted some important files/folders which caused the whole downloaded videos/games get lost in a few minutes,i didnt even notice that it was deleting.I tried system restore but it didnt work,is there any other way to get your systems time back up for 2-3 days back?

i have tried uninstalling and re-installing flash, installing 64 bit flash player, have tried uninstalling chrome and re-installing and nothing has worked, have tried terminating my virus and firewall software too.
on a few certain site, like facebook, twitter, classic yahoo mail the screen erratically flashes
i keep my PC switched on for days on end, i'm also logged onto these sites, but sometimes i get the screen flashing, nothing i can do to stop it unless i restart my PC and it's fine until it starts again, it can be a day, to a few days
i think it may be facebook, as when i'm not on this site, it seems to be fine.
do you think it's a flash problem or something else i've just uninstalled flash & reinstalled to see if it's going to help
This is the second install on older hardware (Intel 945gm chipset) within two months that has IE9 unreliability, with some sites failing to render at all.I have reinstalled flash player, Java, reset Internet Options to default, and it still just hangs there. This is very annoying. I had a similar situation two months ago and ended up installing Firefox to solve it. Is this a known issue? Is there are decent troubleshooter?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. We have a Netgear cable modem / wireless router. Comcast is the service provider. My other two computers connect and load pages without any issue. However, my new laptop connects without issue, the browser boots up just fine, and google comes up right away.
Here's the strange part: It only loads pages from Google! Whenever I go to another website, the browser finds the start, begins loading very slowly, then stops when the progress bar reaches about halfway. Again, my other two computers ( a laptop and a desktop ) both connect fine. They are both running XP.
I thought it might be a problem with the browser, so I went to starbucks with the new laptop and tried using the wifi there. All pages loaded perfectly there without issue. That's why I'm guessing Comcast is involved in this problem.
When I got back home, I tried using Firefox 3.5 and back to the same problem. I noticed that in addition to Google, Reuters News loads as well. Skype is also running without any problem.
Any clue if there is a setting in Windows 7 I need to change, or is this something I need to call Comcast about?
i cannot view sites in the windows seven when i'm connected to vpn server!i can ping any sites with a good reply, but i cannot view sites!!!i must say that i have checked all things that i know and when i see this problem in some systems running windows 7,i found that the problem is with the windows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNow the problem: simply put, I cannot connect to any ftp site (even tp.microsoft.com). I strongly believe this has something to do with my computer itself, but I've done endless searches on google and tried several solutions to no avail. Here is a list of what I have tried thus far:-Connecting using the command prompt. On the command prompt I've typed in "ftp ftp.microsoft.com" and it goes straight to the "ftp>" . Whenever I try to use a command the prompt responds with a "Not connected". However, if I ping the ftp server it does respond like it should.-Using software ftp clients (Firezilla, SmartFTP, etc.). I put in the necessary information and that's basically as far as it gets.-Checking "Enable Passive FTP" in IE. That did zip.
-Adjusted Firewall settings... (based on suggestions from forums and such). To the best of my knowledge, everything set as it should. The settings I adjusted were on Windows FirewallThis is what leads me to believe it is my computer that is the problem because when I use this web-based clients its pretty much the only thing that works and I am able to manipulate the files just fine. That's pretty much all my attempts in various forms and google searches. I should also note that I am connected wirelessly to my school's network, but the network doesn't seem to be the problem because I tried connecting using my roomate's laptop and it connected just fine.
Some sites like yahoomial.com are not getting opened in any of my browser. I have tried to disable my firewall, reinstalled the browser, cleaned the system everything but nothing works... it keeps on loading but never loads the page.... while from cmd i m able to ping the sites.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a 54 year old woman who has played games since I first had computers. My favs are Wild Tangent Games, Big Fish Games, and the Iwon site, among others. But now that I put Windows 7 on my computer it will hardly ever let me play unless I put my computer totally at risk by turning off all safety software, and checking the most dangerous things under Internet Properties. Isn't there a better way.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI sometimes have a problem where I try to bookmark a specific page in Firefox, but it won't add it to my bookmark list. It's extremely URL-specific, for example, one particular video on Vimeo won't add in Firefox, but other videos on the same site, with the same URL style, will. No problem adding the "problem" bookmarks as favorites in IE8.
Why is Firefox so finicky about refusing to add some sites to the bookmark list and is there a workaround?
This is on Win7x64. It's an older Firefox version (3.5.19), but not ancient.
what seems like a very basic question but I have never been able to get visited sites to be a color I chose under internet options>appearance>colors. It seems to imply that it will be used on the actual web site but I want it on the page with all the links that I have just Googled a particular topic. I dont think there is a way but I minus well ask it while I am here: Is there a shortcut for last tab used? For example: Go from tab 10 to tab 2 then press a shortcut to go back to tab 10?
