Partial Scrolling Problem In Windows 7 SP1
Feb 22, 2012
On Febr. 21st 2012, out of the blue, I could not, and still cannot, scroll by using the scroll wheel on my mouse when I am using the Namo WebEditor software. If I touch the scroll wheel the page scrolls all the way to the top and cannot be stopped. The problem also occurs when I want to select a file from within Namo.Scrolling by using the scroll bar works fine.In all other cases there is no problem whatsoever. The problem is not dependent on the type of mouse.I have a Dell Studio laptop.

My desktop is having a strange issue after the latest nvIdia driver update. Aero seems to be working just fine except for the taskbar and the top bar above the program window. This seems to be causing video to run very badly.

Started rebuilding a PC, took out the HDD, formatted in caddy, replaced, took out CPU, cleaned replaced, fitted new cooler. Cleaned and replaced GPU. Switched on, all lights fans startup, screen shows Post splash screen, But that's as far as it goes, none of the key notifications work, loading OS disk does nothing? Changed keyboard for working USB one.

I downloaded EasyBCD 2.1.2, used it to recognize EVERY boot record, deleted the MBR on the old HDD, and rebooted. Now, the system boots straight to the new HDD without prompt from bootloader (which is good) but still requires the presence of the old HDD (I disconnected it, alas...)In the end: I called and told the customer that "I'd be happy to GHOST all her data and slap a fresh Windows 7 install on the new HDD (with a fresh/whole MBR) and then drop all her data back onto it. However, this would require more time; the other option being that she accepts the machine for what it is, perfectly functional minus the dependency on the old HDD."have considered this option, but I found ZERO indication of the old HDD failing, other than "BAD" written on the drive with Sharpie. The customer was happy yesterday and accepted the current state (she didn't want to invest more time/money into it) but today when she picks it up she isn't happy because she was told four months ago that the drive was bad and now I'm saying I don't see an indication of it. Other than pulling the data, installing fresh OS, then dropping data back on; or not installing OS with two drives present in the first place?

For the longest time I've had this problem where my computer will be on, everything working, then all of a sudden it stops but it doesn't crash.. no blue screen.. and oddly enough it doesn't completely lock up. I try to move the mouse and it may not move instantly, but a few seconds later it will jump and freeze again. It acts as if it goes from normal speed to then processing everything at about .0000001 frames per second, if that makes sense. Upon forcing down the computer, it will restart and hang at the "detecting IDE Drives" part of my Bios boot, then I fully force it down again and it boots up fine. At first it would only do this when I was downloading or installing with my 1.5TB drive installed so, I "uninstalled" it by disconnecting the power and SATA cable and it worked, didn't have any "slow down" or install/download issues after that. Now, I had plugged it back in a few months ago and everything was working fine, downloads were going perfectly fine, installs worked without a hitch, until today I decided to install XNA 4.0. When trying, it did the whole slow down/lock up and required me to restart. Recognizing it, I unplugged the drive again and rebooted. Tried to reinstall, then XNA 4.0 installer kept crashing saying "invalid Drive F:/" which is the drive I unplugged... why it was continuing to look for that drive I have no idea, anyways. I messed around with it a bit I plugged in a USB stick and renamed it to drive F:/, it would start installing but now still do this lock up. Some how after loading my BIOS on a boot and having only my 150GB raptor plugged in (no 1.5 TB, no USB drive) I was able to boot and install XNA 4.0 without errors. However, at the very end it started to lock up and slow down.
Now, whenever I boot my computer it continues to do this lock up, even with the drives I thought were problematic uninstalled. During start up it will make the windows chime and then start to slow down/lock up and act almost as if it's processing the sound in very, very slow motion. It would do this to video as well back when it would crash while I was playing games, until I initially unplugged the 1.5TB drive. Anyways, I am stumped now since it seems to be something completely different than a drive problem and do not know where to go from here. [code]

recently got a new laptop a Lenovo Y570. I moved my entire audio collection from my old laptop over and attempted to play songs in iTunes it repeatedly on the majority of songs skips to the next track at a random point throughout the song.this is not the 20 second preview setting in iTunes as it has skipped the same song at 5 seconds or 45 or even 2 mins in. I then tried the songs in Windows Media Player Classic same thing, and again in Windows Media Player 12. However from a few tests QuickTime seems to play songs fine.I updated the Renesas audio driver and tried the CCCP codec pack, then removed it and installed the basic K-Lite codec pack which seems to have fixed the problem for windows media player 12 but the others still dont work. *update tried more songs in WMP12 and it skips some songs midway thru as well.

My windows 7 freezes when scrolling, either using the mouse to scroll on screen or using the mouse wheel. It does this almost every time, except sometimes when I scroll extremely slowly. The problem has persisted for months. The crash results in a striped screen. After a little while I can usually restart in Safe mode. After running for sometime in safe mode I can often restart and launch windows successfully. It runs sometimes for a few hours, sometimes for less. until I try scrolling at normal speed, then it crashes again.I have had the machine checked over for hardware issues and apparently there are none.I have been advised to do a clean re-install of Windows 7. i am reluctant to do this if there might be another way.

I know it's not a hardware problem cause the laptop is brand new, but anyway, when I switch between battery power plans whilst using the laptop, pages scroll slower, words erase (with the backspace bar) slower, general things like that. It's not a huge problem I was just wondering what was causing it.

Does anyone know if there is a way on Windows 7 to emulate two-finger scrolling for devices that are not multi-touch capable? The Linux Synaptics driver has an option that enables this. It usually just works right out of the box.ref: Two Finger Scrolling in Linux (pages cpsc ucalgary ca/~jnjackin/docs/two_finger_scrolling-linux.html)

I went to the Sony manufacture site to download the Alps Pointing Device Driver, but it is only for Vista and is not compatible when I try to install it.

I push my system hard, and have the hardware to handle it (for example, 24G memory.) From time to time, I'll have an enormous amount of windows open. Right now, I have about 100 chrome windows open, with multiple tabs on each. Once there are more windows open than Windows can display vertically on my 1050px height monitor, it shows an up arrow at the top of the list it can display, and a bottom arrow at the bottom of the list it can display. If I hover over either of these arrows, it scrolls at about 3-4 windows per second, which can take forever to scroll to the bottom of the list (which is where the most recently opened windows appear.)

When I try to do a clean install of Windows 7 I get the loading files white progress bar you normally get during an installation, it then goes directly to the scrolling progress bar that would normally appear before a Windows startup, and then goes to a blank Windows 7 desktop with only a cursor (that I can move).I have a computer with the following specs:[CODE]I have tried to install with every version I can get my hands on, both 32 and 64 bit. None of them are upgrade versions. I've tried installing on a fresh WD Raptor and an Intel G25 SSD. All other drives have been disconnected. I've moved my memory around and tried with one stick. My mainboard has the latest official BIOS, although there is a new beta.
I ran the Windows 7 compatibility test and didn't see anything that would cause this problem.I have searched the internet and have not been able to find a solution sonstalling Windows XP has never been a problem, just Windows 7, always with the same problem. This is one of the few times when I have not been able to look around a find an existing answer to a problem and I am stumped.

Firefox browses and navigates fine, not a problem. Only when scrolling either with arrow or mouse, the background and sometimes the taskbar/system tray flicker. It's like you can see what window is open behind the browser view.I have tried using IE (not a fan...) and it didn't work so I uninstalled Firefox and attempted a reinstall only to find the problem remains.

I'm having a problem that seems to be compounding itself (maybe it's my imagination)... whenever I scroll in a page in IE8 with Flash content on it (side/top bar ads) the page becomes sluggish, jittery, etc. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this and is it caused by the ActiveX Flash plugin or from IE8 itself?
I'm not having this problem with Chrome or Firefox with the Flash plugin.

I have a DELL XPS M1530 laptop that I just installed a full version of Windows 7. It had Windows Vista on it before. It is a replacement computer for my old DELL (same model) that was having issues.I usually hook up a bluetooth mouse when I use my computer, but I just noticed last night when I was using the touchpad instead, is that it does not scroll up and down, or left to right. The mouse part of the touchpad works fine, as does the left and right buttons.

I am having problems with slow scrolling while selecting down. If I go to the bottom and select up it works as expected (selects and scrolls quickly) but when I select down it doesn't. It seems to be isolated to my user. I logged in to my local guest account to verify this. selecting while scrolling worked as expected in my guest user account. the 2 user accounts do have different applications in them. I'm at a loss for why I can't select quickly while scrolling down. By the way, simply scrolling works fine in any direction. the problem only presents itself when I try to select and scroll down; then it slows down to a snails pace, only slower. The only thing I can think to do is to do a clean install by re-formating and reinstalling everything. It doesn't seem like there are any settings that can address this and it seems to happen in any application on this user. I would prefer not to migrate to a new user nor do a clean install but I'll do it, only as a last resort. I'll try to boot into safe mode to see if that helps but at this point, I don't think it will. I don't want to have to boot to safe mode every time i want to use my computer.

After I installed Windows 7 (couldn't upgrade, had to do a custom install), the scrolling on the right side of my touchpad stopped working. I downloaded a new driver, but it still doesn't work.
When I go into the Synaptics device settings, it says that I have a "Standard Pointing Device" and when I look at the settings it only gives me options for two buttons (no scrolling options). I attached a picture of the options window I'm talking about.
Can anybody help?
My computer is an hp pavilion dv2000.
