View 3 RepliesI have a DELL XPS M1530 laptop that I just installed a full version of Windows 7. It had Windows Vista on it before. It is a replacement computer for my old DELL (same model) that was having issues.I usually hook up a bluetooth mouse when I use my computer, but I just noticed last night when I was using the touchpad instead, is that it does not scroll up and down, or left to right. The mouse part of the touchpad works fine, as does the left and right buttons.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter I installed Windows 7 (couldn't upgrade, had to do a custom install), the scrolling on the right side of my touchpad stopped working. I downloaded a new driver, but it still doesn't work.
When I go into the Synaptics device settings, it says that I have a "Standard Pointing Device" and when I look at the settings it only gives me options for two buttons (no scrolling options). I attached a picture of the options window I'm talking about.
Can anybody help?
My computer is an hp pavilion dv2000.
I use a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ491N laptop that I just recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on. However, since updating, my touch pad no longer scrolls. I went to the Sony manufacture site to download the Alps Pointing Device Driver, but it is only for Vista and is not compatible when I try to install it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 7 x64 onto my Dell Latitude D630 and found that the scrolling with the touchpad does not work at all. I have already downloaded and installed the Synaptics driver and nothing happened. I also downloaded R165804.exe directly from Dell's site and it came up with an error saying that 'the software does not work on your operating system. Click OK to exit.'
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a dell latitude D630 running windows 7 and the damn thing won't vertically scroll using the touchpad. I'm confused--I've done internet searches and can't figure out if this model dell is using a synaptics or alps touchpad. Does anyone have any recommendations

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 ultimate on my daughters, acer aspire 3050 laptop. It was running vista home basic before. The vista install was damaged by viruses, so I decided to upgrade her to 7. All the hardware was recognized, but for some reason the keyboard does not work, it was working fine with the virus riddled vista install. For some strange reason the windows key does bring up the start menu, but none of the other keys seem to do anything.
They all work in the BIOS just fine. Also the touch pad does work, but the cursor movement is very jerky, and it was also fine in vista. I went to acer's site, they don't have any windows 7 drivers available for this model, or any vista drivers for the keyboard, I installed the vista touch pad drivers, but they did not seem to help. I also messed with the keyboard settings in control panel, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any ideas, on what I need to do to fix this. I have been really pleased with 7 on my other computers, and would hate to have to go back to vista.
my laptop's right key below the touchpad at times needs to be clicked more than once to respond..but recently d right key stopped working with d touchpad when used together..like fr selelction of text nd stuff..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently had the top cover replaced because of damage done to it during a tuneup and cleaning. Now my right mouse key, on the touchpad does not respond. Using a wired mouse everything is normal. Is there a setting in Windows to correct this, or is it a ribbon not properly connected or similar problem?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently gave vista the boot installed windows 7 on my Toshiba satellite A200-FT3 laptop. Everything went great however the touchpad doesn't seem to be functioning.
I've already installed the latest synaptic driver. The device manager even says that the device is 'working properly' however i can't get the pointer to move using the touchpad.
The 'Fn' functions work:
Fn+F7 to brighten
Fn+F6 to darken.
EXCEPT the touchpad: Fn+F9.
Does anybody have any ideas?
i recently installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my laptop and my mousepad does not work. i have researched this site and read other threads of similar problems, and have tried the new ALPS driver for windows 7, but when i try and run the setup it tells me that it cannot run on my OS. Im using a usb mouse right now.
Model is VGN-NR310E
The touchpad stopped working properly about 8 months ago. It was not a big matter to me as i only use USB mouse as pointing device. But yesterday i experianced a strange error. WHEN I START WINDOWS THE CURSOR AUTOMATICALLY SELECTS THE LAST ICON ON MY DESKTOP AND IT STRATS BLINKING.EVEN WHEN I OPEN "MY COMPUTER" OR ANY FOLDER OR ANY DROP DOWN MENU,IT OPENS WITH THE LAST DRIVE/THE LAST FOLDER/THE LAST FILE PRESELECTED AND WHEN I CLICK ANY OTHER DRIVE OR FOLDER THE CURSOR ONLY OPENS THE LAST DRIVE/FOLDER/FILE WHICH MEANS I CAN'T USE MY COMPUTER AT ALL.But sometimes it works fine about 30 mins and then again the same problem begins.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife's Samsung notepad keyboard and touchpad have stopped working. The odd thing is that the keyboard does work at startup - I can press F4, arrows, Enter, etc to start up in safe mode, but still the keyboard and touchpad do not work as soon as we get to the login screen. I have tried system restore, unplugging the cord and battery. At the moment I can get it to work using a USB mouse and the on-screen keyboard
View 1 Replies View Relatedanyone else have this problem where their laptops touchpad is not working with the 7000 build of windows 7. its a toshiba laptop. i tried to install the touchpad driver for it, and it shows that the device is working properly through the device manager, but nothing happens. ive tried turning the touchpad on and off and it still does nothing. the mouse worked perfectly fine when i had xp installed on it, but once i changed to windows 7, it just stopped working.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOK so I have tried deleting the touchpad in device manager and removing the driver, and reinstalling the device from scratch. When this didn't work I thought there must be a problem with the touchpad itself and so bought a new one and installed it. Problem is it still doesn't work.If I go into device manager and look for it I have to show hidden devices and then it comes up with the yellow triangle next to it.I show properties on it and it says its the Dell Touchpad, Manufacturer is Alps Electronics, and its plugged into the PS/2 mouse port.In the Device Status box it says:This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)The Driver date is 02/05/2010 and the version is 7.1107.115.102I have also noticed that on the details tab under power data the current power state is D3, which I believe is off.Something else I have noticed which may or may not be related is that the laptop doesn't enter sleep mode when the lid is closed, altho it is set to and will enter sleep if I select it in the shutdown options.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have read about similar problems on here but none of the solutions worked for me. the keyboard seems to work just fine until the "starting windows" screen appears then absolutely nothing. i've tried reinstalling the alps pointing device drivers, i uninstalled then installed the newer version, nothing seems to work. the computer was working just fine until i came home from work and turned it on. this same problem happend about 2 months ago and it magically fixed it self, i just never turned the computer off again. i have 2 identical sony vaio VPC-EB33FM/BJ models, and have compared all the drivers and settings, they are the exact same (except the newer version of Alps on the broken one). i ran one of those "scan for new drivers" programs that ask for money to update drivers that it says are old and it said that the HID keyboard device driver is way out of date along with several others, but once again they are the same as the ones on the computer i am using now and this one works like a champ
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have researched this problem quite a bit and tried several possible solutions that have worked for many users yet nothing had worked. I have tried several different drivers, tried tweaking settings with no solution in sight.

I first noticed FF flashing when version 7.0 was released, it's still the same in version 7.0.1. Only page I found so far is The Beginner's Guide to Using QoS (Quality of Service) on Your Router - How-To Geek It is ok using IE9.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFirefox browses and navigates fine, not a problem. Only when scrolling either with arrow or mouse, the background and sometimes the taskbar/system tray flicker. It's like you can see what window is open behind the browser view.I have tried using IE (not a fan...) and it didn't work so I uninstalled Firefox and attempted a reinstall only to find the problem remains.
