i recently installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my laptop and my mousepad does not work. i have researched this site and read other threads of similar problems, and have tried the new ALPS driver for windows 7, but when i try and run the setup it tells me that it cannot run on my OS. Im using a usb mouse right now.
my laptop's right key below the touchpad at times needs to be clicked more than once to respond..but recently d right key stopped working with d touchpad when used together..like fr selelction of text nd stuff..
I installed Windows 7 (64-Bit) on my Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-FW11E) yesterday coming from Vista (32-Bit). Everything is running ok but i have one problem. On Vista i used to scroll up and down using my touchpad however on Windows 7, that function seems to have disabled. On Vista there also was a touchpad setting where i could set my touchpad functions, but which i can no longer find on Windows 7.
When i installed Windows 7, i understand that i cannot carry over all the sony vaio programs onto Windows 7 (because my laptop is too old apparently) but is there anyway to adjust my touchpad setting? I have always used the touchpad scroll function and it is kind of annoying not having it.
I have a Vaio laptop with Windows 7. the scroll feature on the touchpad is ever so annoying. How do I remove this option? I have gone to the Start button, then mouse features but have not found a way to disable the scrolling.
this computer is a VGN-TXN15P which originally ran on XP but now runs on Windows 7 Ultimate. I need an ALPS download so I can have scrolling and turn off the tapping.
I use a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ491N laptop that I just recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on. However, since updating, my touch pad no longer scrolls. I went to the Sony manufacture site to download the Alps Pointing Device Driver, but it is only for Vista and is not compatible when I try to install it.
I was working on an email Saturday when my Sony Vaio stopped working & flipped over to the black & white Vaio screen. Since then, I've been able to reboot it once, but it flips right back over to the Vaio screen. At one point, I was able to get to the Advanced Boot Options menu by hitting F8. I tried to restore to the last known good configuration. It got to the Windows logo screen, then went back to the Vaio screen, then went to the "Operating System could not be found" screen. The computer has a One Touch Web Access Without Booting Up feature.
i hav a sony vaio VPCEH and my touch pad is not working. i tried 2 reinstall my drivers, enable all settings 2 be enabled 4 a touchpad 2 work. but m able 2 use a mouse.
Today my laptop keyboard and mouse stop working for some odd reason because some weird anti vurse popped up on my computer freezing it so I restarted it . I thought my computer frozen so I would restart it , but I just hooked up my keyboard and mouse and they work just fine on the laptop , but when i unplug them i can't use my keyboard or mouse to my computer. I am not sure if i pressed something to make the touchpad and keyboard stop working .Maybe I could have put in sleep mode or something.
I just installed windows 7 ultimate on my daughters, acer aspire 3050 laptop. It was running vista home basic before. The vista install was damaged by viruses, so I decided to upgrade her to 7. All the hardware was recognized, but for some reason the keyboard does not work, it was working fine with the virus riddled vista install. For some strange reason the windows key does bring up the start menu, but none of the other keys seem to do anything.
They all work in the BIOS just fine. Also the touch pad does work, but the cursor movement is very jerky, and it was also fine in vista. I went to acer's site, they don't have any windows 7 drivers available for this model, or any vista drivers for the keyboard, I installed the vista touch pad drivers, but they did not seem to help. I also messed with the keyboard settings in control panel, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any ideas, on what I need to do to fix this. I have been really pleased with 7 on my other computers, and would hate to have to go back to vista.
I recently had the top cover replaced because of damage done to it during a tuneup and cleaning. Now my right mouse key, on the touchpad does not respond. Using a wired mouse everything is normal. Is there a setting in Windows to correct this, or is it a ribbon not properly connected or similar problem?
My laptop recently became buggered by a virus and as I did not have a windows 7 installation disc I decided to restore it to its factory default using some sort of dell backup utility.Since I did this my touchpad and keyboard no longer seems to work! keyboard works fine when i select f8 on startup as i can flick through the options however when i boot into safe mode the touchpad and keyboard still don't work.
i have a laptop which has a Synaptics touchpad it use to work well but few days it is not working well when im moving it but it moves slow and jumps here and there i cannot use it always moves from one place to another i dont know why.
I recently gave vista the boot installed windows 7 on my Toshiba satellite A200-FT3 laptop. Everything went great however the touchpad doesn't seem to be functioning.
I've already installed the latest synaptic driver. The device manager even says that the device is 'working properly' however i can't get the pointer to move using the touchpad.
The touchpad stopped working properly about 8 months ago. It was not a big matter to me as i only use USB mouse as pointing device. But yesterday i experianced a strange error. WHEN I START WINDOWS THE CURSOR AUTOMATICALLY SELECTS THE LAST ICON ON MY DESKTOP AND IT STRATS BLINKING.EVEN WHEN I OPEN "MY COMPUTER" OR ANY FOLDER OR ANY DROP DOWN MENU,IT OPENS WITH THE LAST DRIVE/THE LAST FOLDER/THE LAST FILE PRESELECTED AND WHEN I CLICK ANY OTHER DRIVE OR FOLDER THE CURSOR ONLY OPENS THE LAST DRIVE/FOLDER/FILE WHICH MEANS I CAN'T USE MY COMPUTER AT ALL.But sometimes it works fine about 30 mins and then again the same problem begins.
My wife's Samsung notepad keyboard and touchpad have stopped working. The odd thing is that the keyboard does work at startup - I can press F4, arrows, Enter, etc to start up in safe mode, but still the keyboard and touchpad do not work as soon as we get to the login screen. I have tried system restore, unplugging the cord and battery. At the moment I can get it to work using a USB mouse and the on-screen keyboard
anyone else have this problem where their laptops touchpad is not working with the 7000 build of windows 7. its a toshiba laptop. i tried to install the touchpad driver for it, and it shows that the device is working properly through the device manager, but nothing happens. ive tried turning the touchpad on and off and it still does nothing. the mouse worked perfectly fine when i had xp installed on it, but once i changed to windows 7, it just stopped working.
OK so I have tried deleting the touchpad in device manager and removing the driver, and reinstalling the device from scratch. When this didn't work I thought there must be a problem with the touchpad itself and so bought a new one and installed it. Problem is it still doesn't work.If I go into device manager and look for it I have to show hidden devices and then it comes up with the yellow triangle next to it.I show properties on it and it says its the Dell Touchpad, Manufacturer is Alps Electronics, and its plugged into the PS/2 mouse port.In the Device Status box it says:This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)The Driver date is 02/05/2010 and the version is 7.1107.115.102I have also noticed that on the details tab under power data the current power state is D3, which I believe is off.Something else I have noticed which may or may not be related is that the laptop doesn't enter sleep mode when the lid is closed, altho it is set to and will enter sleep if I select it in the shutdown options.
i have read about similar problems on here but none of the solutions worked for me. the keyboard seems to work just fine until the "starting windows" screen appears then absolutely nothing. i've tried reinstalling the alps pointing device drivers, i uninstalled then installed the newer version, nothing seems to work. the computer was working just fine until i came home from work and turned it on. this same problem happend about 2 months ago and it magically fixed it self, i just never turned the computer off again. i have 2 identical sony vaio VPC-EB33FM/BJ models, and have compared all the drivers and settings, they are the exact same (except the newer version of Alps on the broken one). i ran one of those "scan for new drivers" programs that ask for money to update drivers that it says are old and it said that the HID keyboard device driver is way out of date along with several others, but once again they are the same as the ones on the computer i am using now and this one works like a champ
I have researched this problem quite a bit and tried several possible solutions that have worked for many users yet nothing had worked. I have tried several different drivers, tried tweaking settings with no solution in sight.
After updating my system from Windows Vista - 64 bit to Windows 7 Professional - 64 bit my function buttons along with my touchpad scrollbar and volume touchpad have stopped working.
I've recently installed windows 7 ultimate and now the scroller on my touchpad isn't working. I've tried updating the driver but it says I've got the most recent update!!
My touchpad (built into the notebook) works fine on the login screen. As soon as I hit the login button it stops totally. Buttons and touchpad. Also my screensaver works before login (on login screen) but once logged in it won't auto start but will start under 'preview'. Windows 7 home premium 64.
I recently installed a new HDD (Seagate ST9500424AS; p/n 9RW143-567) in my Sony VAIO VPCEH11FX and installed the OS using the Sony VAIO Recovery Media Kit (VPCE_10FX Series 989203008). During the installation, I selected the default or normal settings. A short while (1-2 weeks) after the installation was complete, I noticed that the track pad was not working after enabling it using Fn+F1. (The pointing device dialog box DOES appear when I press Fn+F1 and shows that it will toggle between enable & disable). I took the computer into Fry's (where I bought it) and they booted a different OS (I think it was Windows XP) using a CD. Using this OS, the track pad worked. So it was confirmed it wasn't a hardware issue. I proceeded to contact Sony. They had me do the following:
1) download the latest drivers & driver updates and install both. This didn't fix the problem. 2) uninstall 'Alps Pointing-device for VAIO' and run the .exe files for the driver & update. This didn't fix the problem. 3) boot the computer to recovery mode (press F10 when it starts); I noticed that the track pad was working in this mode. 4) Confirm that the other ALT keys functioned properly. (they do function properly)
The Sony rep asked me to confirm the type of HDD I installed (I forget what specifically he was interested in), but upon my reading him the part number, he confirmed the HDD was compatible. The Sony rep then suggested I either recover the system to a previous version/date and see if the track pad is working. (he seems to think some software I installed might have prevented the track pad from working) He also suggested I could reformat the HDD and reinstall the entire OS. I've balked at doing either, as I'm guessing there is an issue with the registry.
I'm having trouble with my Sony Vaio VGN-FW520F with the Function Key not working i tried looking up the drives from the Sony US website and cant seem to find it. I had updated my Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows Pro and cleared my hard drive in the process.
I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7. Now my nVidia Graphics Card does not seem to be recognized and my screen resolution is stuck at 1024 x 768 and doesn't even fill all of the screen. Also, games that I used to play online I can't hardly see at all. I have tried the Sony Support site and the nVidia site to download drivers and anything else I can find to no avail. I also noticed another thread on this but couldn't find a solution that worked for me. Anyone?
