View 1 RepliesWhen I depress my mouse wheel in Thunderbird, and MS Excel a small circle with arrows appears and than just moving the mouse causes the screen to scroll. I find that irritating and would like to know how to disable that feature.

Is there any way to turn off scrolling with a laptop mouse? I have a new laptop and the dang scrolling is really irritating. It's WAY to sensitive, and the scroll area is not all the way to the side like my laptop was. Every time I touch this mouse pad I end up scrolling halfway down the page.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the RAPTOR-GAMING LM2 mouse. I have a problem scrolling with the mouse wheel in any program. Scrolling fast works fine but when i scroll down one notch on the wheel sometimes it randomly scrolls up one notch. This mouse is less than a month old.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of scrolling the page using mouse wheel (either browser, or microsoft word document, etc) the screen blinks for a fraction of second, and the whole system shuts down as if somebody pulled the plug out, and then immediately restarts showing dialogue of whether I want to start windows normally or in the safe mode.
I have looked in the event logs but the only thing it tells me there is that there was an unexpected shutdown. The same in that reliability place.
how I would diagnose it? I cannot replicate it at will, as it only happens occasionally when scrolling, at other times scrolling is fine and does not produce this result. The system is Windows 7 enterprise 64bit, the mouse is Microsoft bluetrack technology
I have recently bought a MS Wireless Mouse 5000, and the scroll wheel seems to be a bit flakey. It does not happen all the time, and seems to be worse in some applications (for instance, Safari), than others.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSince a couple of weeks I have had this really annouing problem with Flashing horizontal stripes on my second monitor, i can guarantee that these are not hardware problems, the stripes do not appear when i open a program on full screen, so basically they ONLY appear on the desktop background.
Here is a link to a video of the stripes:
For the past day random lines have been appearing on my desktop. The following picture is not my laptop but I found this image and its the same thing that happens on my computer. The lines appear in different spots each time and will stay for a short amount of time.

I've got a scan lines (horizontal) going up as if It's scanning a paper!?This only occurs when playing (all) games without VSYNC. Leaving VSYNC on solves the problem but I'm more used to play on higher framerate. Movements feel very slow when leaving it on (especially on FPS games). I've taken screenshots but it's not visible. Also there's something fishy going on:
Additional info:
-my graphics card is not overlocked
-Not overheating when leaving vsync off (remains below 60C)
-I'm using the official MSI drivers for my MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr OC edition (ForceWare 280.26)
-Using VGA cable with a DVI adapter for my graphics card

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't have the model on me now, but recently I worked on a Compaq Desktop computer. At random times (could be any program open), it would go to a grey screen with weird horizontal lines. I upgraded the video drivers, ran a video stress test and it went over 2 hours with no problems.
The customer just reported to me that it happened again so I am thinking that maybe it is a faulty motherboard (video built onto motherboard). What do you guys think? I didn't wanna give the customer the run around saying "Let's try 1) putting in a new video card then 2) lets try reformatting and lastly 3) lets replace the motherboard)"
I'm trying to find a third party program that will allow me to expand one display on two monitors. I have a nvidia card, unfortunately nvidia and win7 refuse to create a program that will allow me to put one picture on two screens to get a big picture. They have it in XP but nothing for 7. I have the lasted nvidia driver for win 7 but the software is sadly lacking. I can't believe they don't have a program like in XP. They seem to think people only want separate displays on the two screens... why they think that is beyond me.
Anyone here know where I can get a program that will give me one display in two monitors.
I start up my computer, the bios runs as normal detecting drives etc. then it gets to "loading operating system..", from here it either stays that way or changes to a screen with horizontal blue lines and if you wait a little longer still, other colored lines appear aside these blue lines. This all happens at the top of the monitor.I have tried to restart my PC several times and the same thing happens with these lines. I have also tried changing monitors, unplugging all inputs. Nothing.
View 1 Replies View Relatedso I have a low profile Dell computer in the living room hooked up to an LG LCD TV. It did have an ATI graphics card which used the PCIe slot, and a USB stick for wireless internet. The wireless stick wasn't working great so I've just got a wireless card installed, however it also uses PCIe and there is only one slot. As the computer is not being used for games, the wireless card is much more valuable to have in the slot. When I had the ATI card in there though I could use CCC to adjust the screen over slightly (there is about an inch cut off on the left side of the screen). It is not a spanning/stretching issue, merely just needs a nudge to the left and it will all be good.I have just installed Intel Control Center, but when I click on monitor/tv settings it says that they are not supported. There is no option to adjust this in the Windows 7 display options either, so I'm not quite sure what else to try.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have horizontal lines that scan my monitor whenever i play a game. I can see the horizontal lines only on darker colors like grey, dark-green etc. I have a Samsung E2220 display that runs at 1080p on 60hz on a vga cable (no hdmi/dvi support on it). I tried another vga cable, i tried another power cable but with the same result.I have all drivers updated (monitor and other hardware). My current PC specs are: AsRock N68-C S UCC, Phenom II x4, 4Gb DDR3, Radeon HD7770, 500gb HDD Sata3 and a power supply Sirtec 500W 80+.If I open Far Cry 3, for example, i get those horizontal lines. If i minimize the game i still get the horizontal lines if i have something dark on my display (a grey/dark-green/dark-blue website). Before the HD7770 i had a GTS 450 and had the same problems. Could it be the PSU, or the motherboard or what? I also tried a different display monitor (on the VGA) and had the same horizontal lines scaning my display monitor.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI took some cell phone videos in the portrait position recently which translates to showing only in the horizontal position in MM or whatever editing software I have. Unlike pics, I can't find a plug in or software that will let me flip it from that horizontal to vertical (portrait) position.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was playing a video game when My computer froze completly. Ever since a computer crash, my computer starts up with pink lines horizontally when microsoft windows loads and is only displaying 16 colours. When trying to change the display settings, all the video card information is not being displayed. I suspect is a video card hardware malfunction but I could be wrong. When The computer starts, I get a message saying "Windows has not loaded properly perviously" and gives me the option to run the Windows Startup Repair. After running the Windows Startup Repair, it fails to fix the problem and I get the message below:
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Monitor model # 1908fwpt and we have used it as an external for a few laptops now, and on the last two hook-ups it has constant, non-flickering white horizontal lines across the screen. The only resolution that doesn't is 1280x1024 for some reason. I have changed the cables, used both VGA and DVI, and run the self-diagnostics and updated all drivers. I have chased this issue up and down and not been able to come up with a way to fix it. The monitor is not old, it hasn't been used very much, and I really don't want to replace it...
Since its done it on a few different computers I tend to think its not a driver issue, or a cable issue... And the one resolution it works on is all stretched out and flat.
I'm running a homemade rig, which worked fine on my 42" TV as a "HTPC/Gamer." Moved it from its spot in the entertainment center to my desk and BAM! Locks up or hangs during gaming. Zero activity, temps on my Strike-X drop to ambient, no Ctrl+Alt+Deletes, power button press resets, or power button hold resets. Only option is to flip the power switch on the PSU. Now, here's the kicker, when I lay the case horizontally, it works without a hitch.
ASUS M4A79T Deluxe
AMD Phenom II X4 955BE
G.Skill Ripjaw Series 8GB (4x2GB) @ 1600
XFX Radeon 5970HD
Liteon DVD Burner
LG Blu-Ray Burner
Aerocool Strike-X Fan/Temp Controller
6x120mm fans, 4 on the Strike-X, other 2 straight to mobo headers (fans are not LED or anything fancy)
Rosewill 600W PSU
All stuffed in a Cooler Master Centurion 590.
Now, I've ran a compliment of stress tests with the PC laying flat, no problems or spikes or anything. Furmark, Prime95, Unigine Heaven DX11, even CustomPC (a UK magazines') benchmarking suite for hours, no problems.
I've already updated BIOS for the Mobo and Video. Up to date drivers all around (as of 1/28/2012).
How do you put the Touchpad into the Horiz/Vert mode, and more importantly, how do you get it out of that mode?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOK, just woke computer up from "sleep," and everything is working fine. A few minutes later, all of a sudden, the monitor screen is filled with colored vertical and horizontal lines...and nothing is working nor is there anything else on the screen but the lines. Manually, shut down and rebooted. Opened with options on how to continue. I chose Normal Mode. Computer and screen now working as they should for the last hour.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem that seems to be compounding itself (maybe it's my imagination)... whenever I scroll in a page in IE8 with Flash content on it (side/top bar ads) the page becomes sluggish, jittery, etc. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this and is it caused by the ActiveX Flash plugin or from IE8 itself?
I'm not having this problem with Chrome or Firefox with the Flash plugin.
Is there any was to make scrolling smooth?Like when you have Google chrome with the "Chromium Wheel Smooth Scroller" extension installed but for everything in windows, not just the browser.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a DELL XPS M1530 laptop that I just installed a full version of Windows 7. It had Windows Vista on it before. It is a replacement computer for my old DELL (same model) that was having issues.I usually hook up a bluetooth mouse when I use my computer, but I just noticed last night when I was using the touchpad instead, is that it does not scroll up and down, or left to right. The mouse part of the touchpad works fine, as does the left and right buttons.
