Large Excel 2003 Spreadsheet Keeps Losing Rows Of Data
Mar 12, 2011I have a large 4000 x 25 Excel 2003 spreadsheet that keeps losing rows of data. I normally add 5-10 rows a day and over the last few weeks I have noticed that a couple of days data has disappeared every so often. The sheet is being closed cleanly and saved. Fortunately I have a daily backup so I have been able to go back. the data is there for two days after it was originally entered and then disappears. There has been no restore of the data and the rows have not been accidentally deleted.

Under my old version of Windows XP & Office XP/07, when I received an emailed spreadsheet & made adjustments to it, I was able to save it directly over the old emailed file. Now when I make any changes I am asked to save a copy of the file & to save it elsewhere on my computer & cannot save it directly over the original emailed spreadsheet. how to get this old feature back? I'm sure it's just a matter of ticking some option off.

This seems to depend on the ISP I'm using as I can take the laptop into some Wifi enabled Cafe's and EXCEL gets the data without the error popup.
Since I like to run some of these as background queries (updating Stock prices for instance) is there any way to skip or supress the popup. I've just about tried every possible option both in OFFICE and IE.
Shared Excel File Won't Save
Sep 19, 2012I setup a second User account for a friend so an office associate can sign in to access a spreadsheet on his PC. From the Admin's account I shared to the new account with Read/Write privileges. I didn't see any higher sharing permissions but really didn't poke around much.So I get a call from him today that associate is able to edit the spreadsheet but not save it to her account, gets an error. I'm waiting for the text of the error to Google.

Ever since I did this I have not been able to open the specific file involved with the open-as-admin. Nov 7, 2011There is only one of my Excel 2003 files that almost disappears when I copy it over into my Windows 7 laptop and try to read it with either explorer or search for it, although it asks me to replace it everytime. It appears as if it doesn't exist. However when I open Excel 2010 and list only the .xls files, it finds it and I can read it. I have several other Excel 2003 files that are fine and since I usually open files by clicking on them in explorer, this one is particularly annoying, since I can't find it to click on it to open it. When I do open it in Excel 2010 it works normally and fine.
why only this file disappears from explorer and the search function only?

This contains data in 4/5 columns consisting of details of expenses incurred by two people who jointly own a boat and wish to share the costs equally. I have achieved this for the year 2011 and would like to create an identical s/s for 2012. Due to the fact that I am not familiar with EXCEL , I would like to start the new s/s with the same column setup , totals formulae and the header setup as I have already obtained for the year just ended without the hassle of setting up the same settings again. Would it be possible to just copy the 2011 s/s to the Clipboard and then paste it into my Excel App thus duplicating everything which I could then amend by deleting the old data before filling in the 2012 data? Feb 20, 2012I have a user who goes to a public HTTPS site to download an excel file and she is being prompted for Windows Security credential. She types in her username and password and hits okay, but it prompts for it again and does it for total of three times before letting her open the file.
1. I entered her username and password in Windows credential manager and it is autofilled when it prompts so she has to just click okay three times before she is able to access the file.
2. All she has to do is hit "Cancel" once and it will still give her the option to Save or Open the file.why it is prompting her for credential and I had her use another box which worked correctly without any credential prompts.This is not a Sharepoint site. It doesn't seem to prompt for login if its none office files.

Dec 28, 2011I just changed out my President's XP-Pro to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.We store all of our Word & Excel docs on a 6.5 Netware server.Yes it's old and out of date - but it cost money to change it. so.....I had no problems ever with XP but with Windows 7 when you open a Excel file it ive the old BSOD.It may not do it every time, sometimes I have to open, close a couple of times and then it happens.I have no other problems in connecting to the Netware server.BTW - I'm using the Novell Cient 2 SP2 for windows 7

Jan 3, 2010problem either stopped on the usb data transfer from windows 7 PC to a usb HDD or flash drive; or crashed and give errors. However, i dont encount this sreious problem but rather annoying problem.
As soon as i use my Windows 7 PC to copy a file to usb stick, the process is all ok, but when i read the file, it seems to be corrupted, example, if i have put a avi file in the usb drive, it will play as skipped.
I have updated the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972 but still doesnt fix my problem. I have updated the chipset driver from nvidia web site, still no help.
I know for sure that problem occured after i fresh installed to windows 7 from xp pro. I have also tried to uninstall the usb root hub but still give me the same driver as it was.

Message - "Type the password for [my e-mail address]" I cannot change any settings in Outlook, everything is blank except for the window described above. I have tried all the passwords I know I could have or usually use and nothing works. There is no option to type in a username. I do not use an exchage server, only the POP and SMTP settings. I have a fresh install of MS office 2010 and when trying to incorporate my pop3 mail everything works fine, even the test emails, but I can not save profile because i get an error, "This information service is not installed on your computer", so it wont let me create a new data file. when I search for an existing .pst none are found on hard drive. so I'm kinda stuck. I tried the same basic thing via control panel > mail > data file tab > add data file, but i get the same error. "This information service is not installed on your computer." I took a look at my add/remove windows features pane to see if maybe on windows install I missed some email protocols or something but I could not find any. did the same for the office 2010 install, checked to see if I did not install a key feature. still nothing.Tried using IMAP as well since this does not require .pst access but still same error. Aug 18, 2009I have another issue regarding Office Outlook 2007 and Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). When I open up Outlook sometime (pretty frequently lately).
I get a message telling me that the data file was not closed properly last time it was opened and a check is now is progress (whoo-hoo).
I am happy for it to check the file to make sure that there is no problem with it but doing it every single time I open Outlook for the days work ahead (gimme a break).
There was a thread that I came across on here that Ian had posted about disabling the iTunes Add-On in the Trust Center. But I have tried this to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
