View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is only one of my Excel 2003 files that almost disappears when I copy it over into my Windows 7 laptop and try to read it with either explorer or search for it, although it asks me to replace it everytime. It appears as if it doesn't exist. However when I open Excel 2010 and list only the .xls files, it finds it and I can read it. I have several other Excel 2003 files that are fine and since I usually open files by clicking on them in explorer, this one is particularly annoying, since I can't find it to click on it to open it. When I do open it in Excel 2010 it works normally and fine.
why only this file disappears from explorer and the search function only?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanted to open an excel file directly from IE9, but when I double click the excel file in the browser, it opens right in IE instead of Excel program. How do I make the file use Excel program to open rather than open in IE itself? I am using Windows 7 and Office 2010. I tried the Microsoft registry fix but still it doesn't work. And the folder options in Windows 7 doesn't have the "Advanced" option.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe last system change I made to Excel was to be able to open files as an Administrator. I managed to do that but I don't know how to reverse this. So why am I concerned? Ever since I did this I have not been able to open the specific file involved with the open-as-admin. After several attempts, I did get an error indicating that the file caused serious errors the last time is was opened.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an EXCEL 2003 s/s setup in WIN 7. This contains data in 4/5 columns consisting of details of expenses incurred by two people who jointly own a boat and wish to share the costs equally. I have achieved this for the year 2011 and would like to create an identical s/s for 2012. Due to the fact that I am not familiar with EXCEL , I would like to start the new s/s with the same column setup , totals formulae and the header setup as I have already obtained for the year just ended without the hassle of setting up the same settings again. Would it be possible to just copy the 2011 s/s to the Clipboard and then paste it into my Excel App thus duplicating everything which I could then amend by deleting the old data before filling in the 2012 data? Will this work ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a user who goes to a public HTTPS site to download an excel file and she is being prompted for Windows Security credential. She types in her username and password and hits okay, but it prompts for it again and does it for total of three times before letting her open the file.
1. I entered her username and password in Windows credential manager and it is autofilled when it prompts so she has to just click okay three times before she is able to access the file.
2. All she has to do is hit "Cancel" once and it will still give her the option to Save or Open the file.why it is prompting her for credential and I had her use another box which worked correctly without any credential prompts. This is not a Sharepoint site. It doesn't seem to prompt for login if its none office files.
I just changed out my President's XP-Pro to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.We store all of our Word & Excel docs on a 6.5 Netware server.Yes it's old and out of date - but it cost money to change it. so.....I had no problems ever with XP but with Windows 7 when you open a Excel file it ive the old BSOD.It may not do it every time, sometimes I have to open, close a couple of times and then it happens.I have no other problems in connecting to the Netware server.BTW - I'm using the Novell Cient 2 SP2 for windows 7

View 1 Replies View RelatedI wonder if anyone knows if there is a way I can restore an image I accidentally overwrote. I use Windows 7 and yesterday, I created a Jpeg file in Photoshop. This morning, between waking up and taking coffee and talking to someone, I accidentally overwrote this file by downloading a photo from my email (when the dialogue box asked Replace this file? I inexplicably clicked on YES!)
I have restored my Windows to a previous date - the file stayed the same. I went to restore the folder which contained the file to a previous date, but there were only 2 dates - this morning and 2 days ago (when the file didn't exist). I clicked on this morning hoping it would take me back to the moment before I downloaded the photo, but it looks as though it's taken me to the moment AFTER. Now I can't do anything because there are no previous options (in the folder or picture) to restore to.
It looks as though I'll just have to cut my losses and spend the day re-creating the lost Jpeg but I thought there just might be another way...
Since upgrading to win 7 64bit I've had a problem where the odd file wont deleteIt's not saying its in use by the system or anything like that... it just wont delete, be renamed, or be moved.I can only think of one example right now, and that's a WAV file.I buy music online in WAV format for mixingI put them all in a folder called "new choons" at which point I run Mixed In Key on them to get their KEY - it renames the files to include the Key at the end of the file nameFrom there I put it in their appropriate genre folders in my WAV folder, leaving the new choons folder clear.I have even tried deleting or renaming the new choons folder but it wont do it.any time I open the folder indexing tries to run on it foreve
View 8 Replies View RelatedHad a power failure during a recovery of an Acronis backup on my C: drive. It seems it happened while Acronis just started loading the backup files? When I restarted the Samsung Laptop local drive C: did not appear in Explorer. Only drive D: and my DVD drive E: appeared (C an D are partitions on the same hard disk). The recovery software was on a hidden partition but when trying to use the Samsung Recovery facility it say Drive C: not found. After trying out suggestions found on the internet I only managed to screw everything up resulting in also loosing the D: drive containing my Acronis backup. The laptop did not start at all. I at last managed to get it going after installing Windows 7 again and I then sit with only C System Disk, D System reserved and E: DVD drive at that point.Foolishly I shrinked the system disk C and created a data disk. That disk is now Data Disk F. and not D as original. The Acronis backup containing all my files and data was on the original Data Disk D:I have used various free software to try and find that specific file. But they all search by drive and the missing file must be somewhere on the disk either as lost or wrong drive letter or something.
