Suspicious 'Undo Rename' And Delayed 'Undo Delete'?
Oct 30, 2011There are two things which have been bugging me off for some time now: a suspicious 'Undo Rename' in the right-click context menu even if I did not rename anything, and a delayed 'Undo Delete' in the right-click context (I deleted a shortcut from the desktop and it took some time for the Recycle Bin to be filled and an 'Undo Delete' option in the right-click menu to show up).My User Account Control is set to maximum yet there's no UAC prompt to rename something. I didn't recall renaming a specific file(s) as well, all files from my desktop to folders remain "as is" or were unchanged.

Jul 25, 2012I had Windows Vista and I upgraded using the 'clean install' to Windows 7. I had been experiencing BSODs (blue screen of death) and I thought a re-install, or an upgrade would solve those issues. However, I continue getting those BSODs now with Windows 7 as well.I can't quite recall the stop errors and names, but they were mostly IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I also had 'memory management' sometimes.Recently I powered on my computer and realized everything was running slowly, and I've noticed the BSODs have stopped. I ran everything, anti- malware, virus, spyware programs and they found nothing. I ran memory diagnostics and it came up with nothing. There's nothing really on this computer to be slowing it down since I haven't fully replaced all my files and it's a new OS.The only thing that found anything out of place was after running SFC /scannow, the CBS.log file says this in several places:

What I could understand from that is it's saying that a file, called msdrm.dll.mui, is corrupt. Apparently it's in the 'en-US' folder (assuming). It also says on the last line, 'file is missing'.Now, I've replaced from the actual Windows 7 installation CD, the file msdrm.dll.mui in the en-US folder, and in another folder that had the same file. After restarting, the computer still runs sluggishly.My question is, why would the system file still be corrupt even after replacing it from the installation CD? The CD is fine, no scratches or anything like that, and it's virtually new.Also, could my system be missing something that the file msdrm.dll.mui needs to function properly? (I ask this because it says 'file missing') What can I do about this system file to fix it?Note: I looked up the system file msdrm.dll.mui and I read that it's needed for system performance (and performance right now is my issue so I'm guessing this is what's making my computer run slugglishly).
Recover A File When Replaced Its Folder?
Aug 13, 2012you know when you have 2 folders with the same name and the computer asks you if you want to replace it, keep both and such ? well, I did that to a very important folder that was on my external hard drive, now I don't know what to do� is there any way to recover the folder to its version before I replaced it?ps: information - I replaced using a mac OSX Lion, but I can use any softwares for windows since the folder is on my hard drive not on my laptop - also, they were photos, which I edited with photoshop, so maybe there's something I can do in photoshop, maybe? - it wasn't deleted, it was replaced!

Nonetheless, I'm hopeful that someone here may have a solution.Win 7 Explorer has this "feature" whereby you can undo all sorts of file operations (rename, move, delete) by pressing ctrl+z or by clicking the "undo <whatever>" menu item in the context menu.I find this incredibly annoying, because the only time I use this feature is by accident (either I was trying to ctrl+z in another program window without realizing the focus was switched to, say, the desktop; or I simply failed to click the menu item I was aiming for, and hit the undo <whatever> instead..)

Sep 19, 2012I setup a second User account for a friend so an office associate can sign in to access a spreadsheet on his PC. From the Admin's account I shared to the new account with Read/Write privileges. I didn't see any higher sharing permissions but really didn't poke around much.So I get a call from him today that associate is able to edit the spreadsheet but not save it to her account, gets an error. I'm waiting for the text of the error to Google.

Nov 7, 2011There is only one of my Excel 2003 files that almost disappears when I copy it over into my Windows 7 laptop and try to read it with either explorer or search for it, although it asks me to replace it everytime. It appears as if it doesn't exist. However when I open Excel 2010 and list only the .xls files, it finds it and I can read it. I have several other Excel 2003 files that are fine and since I usually open files by clicking on them in explorer, this one is particularly annoying, since I can't find it to click on it to open it. When I do open it in Excel 2010 it works normally and fine.

Feb 20, 2012I have a user who goes to a public HTTPS site to download an excel file and she is being prompted for Windows Security credential. She types in her username and password and hits okay, but it prompts for it again and does it for total of three times before letting her open the file.
1. I entered her username and password in Windows credential manager and it is autofilled when it prompts so she has to just click okay three times before she is able to access the file.
2. All she has to do is hit "Cancel" once and it will still give her the option to Save or Open the file.why it is prompting her for credential and I had her use another box which worked correctly without any credential prompts.This is not a Sharepoint site. It doesn't seem to prompt for login if its none office files.

Dec 28, 2011I just changed out my President's XP-Pro to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.We store all of our Word & Excel docs on a 6.5 Netware server.Yes it's old and out of date - but it cost money to change it. so.....I had no problems ever with XP but with Windows 7 when you open a Excel file it ive the old BSOD.It may not do it every time, sometimes I have to open, close a couple of times and then it happens.I have no other problems in connecting to the Netware server.BTW - I'm using the Novell Cient 2 SP2 for windows 7

Then I realized that I hadn't backed up my English paper to my flash drive yet. So now my english paper document is gone, and I can't undo the system restore because the undo button is not where it's supposed to be according to the instructions on MS.
I mostly just need that document. Another document for my logic class is half gone now too, but it's not as hard to redo.

That being said, here's what happened.I booted up our Sony Viao running Windows 7 and a window popped up talking about system recovery.
