View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanted to open an excel file directly from IE9, but when I double click the excel file in the browser, it opens right in IE instead of Excel program. How do I make the file use Excel program to open rather than open in IE itself? I am using Windows 7 and Office 2010. I tried the Microsoft registry fix but still it doesn't work. And the folder options in Windows 7 doesn't have the "Advanced" option.

When I create Excel douments using Excel 2003 on my Windows 7 system it saves them as 'OOBE.' documents. If I try to open them from 'My Computer' it says it cannot open them (the Open With option does not suggest Excel). However if I open Excel first then go File Open, then document is fine. When attaching these files to emails they don't look like Excel files then either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe last system change I made to Excel was to be able to open files as an Administrator. I managed to do that but I don't know how to reverse this. So why am I concerned? Ever since I did this I have not been able to open the specific file involved with the open-as-admin. After several attempts, I did get an error indicating that the file caused serious errors the last time is was opened.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my old computer I have Excel docs prepared using Windows XP and MS Office 2000. I have transferred all to a portable hard drive. My new computer has Windows 7. I've installed Office 2003 because I do not like the current version of Office. When I open the Word docs they are fine. However, when I open the Excel docs they appear as a .pdf not supported by Adobe. When I open them on my wife's computer which is Vista and MS Office 2000, they are fine. I really do not want to have to recreate the Excel docs using Office 2003. What, if anything, can I do to have the 2000 Excel docs transferred to 2003 Excel.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Win7 Phone. Not real happy with how do sync Word and Excel files?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI love the new taskbar and the "right click" on a pinned programme to access recent files & pinned files. However, while this feature works perfectly for Word, when I try to open an excel file from the taskbar, or even as an attachment to a received e-mail, I get the message " there was a problem sending the command to the program". The excel program itself opens if it is not already open, but the selected file doesn't. I can only open the file by going through "office button/open". If it is an e-mail attachment, I can only open it by saving it to one of my folders, and opening it via "office button/open". Additionally, once I attempt to open an excel file from the taskbar, the excel symbol on the taskbar displays a yellow/brown border instead of the normal border.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLast week I downloaded a Custom POI .csv file for my Garmin Nuvi. It is a combined file that contains all Walmart, Samsclubs in the US. The file also included two .bmp icons, one for Walmart and one for the Samsclub. I renamed the Walmart .bmp icon to the exact file name of the Walmart.csv file so it is displayed on my map screen. Tried renaming the Samsclub icon with the same filename as the Walmart one but got an error. One user suggested that I split the main spreadsheet into two seperate files with all of the SamsClubs locations to a new worksheet in order to see the SamsClub icon.Since I am a novice user of Excel, how do I get all of the SamsClub entries on the main worksheet to a new worksheet?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm having a problem with opening files I use to open with two programs. One is mkv, vob and divx files with homecinema. And snes roms with an emulator. Basically win 7 would let me select the program and it would show up on the list of programs to use. I would select always use and I'm done. But I moved the folders containing the files to a different folder and now my two programs I use will not show up in the open with list. I now have to go to the program itself and search for the files. Its a pain because I could click on the files and get right to them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to fix up my brothers laptop, but this thing is a real doozy of a mess. Not sure how this happened, but somehow, the OS is no longer able to open any kind of executable other than firefox, and internet explorer. Anything else, including chrome, is on a no fly list. I can't even open the command prompt.
I tried adjusting the extension properties, and even reinstalled the extension (codec?), but nothing allows the computer to access its' exe's.
I'm pretty much convinced that since I can't access the registry (which is, I think, where the problem lies) and since the system restore is useless (it's been screwed up so long there aren't any restore points prior to the problem), I'm out of options, and simply have to wipe the HDD and do a clean reinstall, but I wanted to know if anyone out there has a different idea.
More curiosity than anything, since I have never seen a computer as screwed as this. Has anyone heard of a virus that causes this?
