ON Booting Modem Does Not Respond Until I Switch Off
Last 3 weeks I am facing this problem.
I boot to windows 7 modem wont respond or may be the drivers are not able to detect the adsl modem. I then switch off the modem power &now when I switch On windows detect the network & starts working fine.
I cant figure out if its the modem giving problems or some network settings or the Marvel Youkon drivers v 11.10.7.3

Backup Options Do Not Respond
When I go into "Backup & Restore Your Files" & try to use any of the "Backup" features/selections, none of the selection options respond. "Manage Space" "Turn on Schedule" & "Change Settings" do nothing when I click on them? The "Backup Now" button also is unresponsive.

Logitech Wireless Mouse Slow To Respond
It just is very slow to respond and I tried it on 2 computers running Win7. It is fully charged and the response is way below what I would expect from a mouse. It was so bad I brought a wired mouse (MX518) and the response is brilliant in comparrison. Just curious if anyone else has had similar problems with wireless mice especially Logitech, not sure what model as nothing on the mouse to show it but its a recent model ( purchased this year )

Peripherals Fail To Respond On Welcome Screen After Standby
I accidently standby'd one when I was done setting it up. I unhooked the power and peripherals and deployed it. The welcome screen wouldnt recognize the mouse/keyboard even if I unplugged/plugged them back in (thier power worked, keyboard lit, mouse lit). I restarted them with the power button (which still worked) and it still would not recognize them. I had to cold shutdown and reboot, I had discharge the psu and then everything worked again. The system seemed as responsive as normal, but lacking the peripherals. This seems like something that would not happen very often, but is a bug none the less.

Boot Manager Does Not Respond To Key Input
I recently installed Windows 7 RC on a 1.5TB hard-drive first. Then installed Ubuntu. During system startup and on the boot manager screen (where one can select the OS to load) - the screen simply does not respond to any key input. I can't select the OS that I want to boot up. Instead it always boots up the default Windows 7 after the wait time of 8 secs.

Laptop Screen Goes Black And Won't Respond
I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 on my HP Pavilion dv5-1000us laptop, and now sometimes when I leave the computer on (and plugged in) after some time (usually around ten minutes or so) the screen goes black even though the keyboard lights are on, and the computer will not respond to any keystroke. I have to reboot. Also, when I close the lid (still plugged in) sometimes, although it is supposed to hibernate it does not, and the same black screen/lighted keyboard problem occurs, and again I have to reboot. Neither of these problems occurs in a predictable manner. I looked at similar questions on the web and in other forums but I don't see the answer. One other person's similar problem involved an ATI driver, but my computer uses a Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset Express Chipset Family; I checked for driver updates but seem to have the latest driver already installed.

Network Sharing Center Doesn't Respond
I have recently (After yesterday's Windows Update) gotten a weird problem. As I log in normally to my computer, the Network Sharing Center doesn't respond, nor does the icon down in the taskbar. I have tried the solutions you can find by googling to fix this - none helped. That is not everything, every application that wants to use Internet connection freezes as they try to do so. I got it fixed temporarily by using the System Restore to restore the system to the point before the Windows Updates were applied, but that is not an option anymore, because the restore point is no longer there. Windows does not let me uninstall updates in Safe Mode, and as Windows Update accesses Internet to do so - it too freezes during a normal login. Any suggestions?

Switch From 32 To 64
I am aware of the cavets for hardware and software when switching from 32 to 64 bit, but the question is this. I just bought the 3 unit upgrade which contains both the 32 and the 64 bit discs. I have an AMD dual core that will process the 64 bit. I installed the 32 bit version. Now I wonder, can I go back and install the 64 bit and if I do will I lose the extra install or will I still have 2 left on the 64 and the 32?

Switch From XP To Windows 7
Just a home user. Mostly gaming. Home oriented stuff includes Office XP (2002), and Quicken. The other main software I use is Adobe Premier Pro CS3 video software (includes Encore, the DVD writing program), and Visual Studio 2005. My system, isn't the latest, but newer stuff isn't a lot faster yet: Intel core 2 extreme X6800 (2.93ghz) Intel D975XBX motherboard, 2GB 667 mhz 4-4-4-10 ddr2ram. ATI HD4870 (PCI Express) video card, 512 MB ram Sound Blaster X-Fi Plantinum 4 Segate 7200.12 500GB sata drives, paired into two striped virtual drives via BIOS. 1 Seagate ??? 250gb IDE drive, used only for boot up. All drives have multiple partitions. Windows XP SP3 is installed on a partition on one of the striped sata drives. Windows XP X64 is installed on a partition on the ide drive. The second pair of drives are used for swap files, temp files, and backup. There's also a USB drive I use for backup. Each instance of OS is used to backup the "other" OS partition, and also I use X64 for for some 64 bit programming with Visual Studio 2005. Other than one version of Halo, I haven't seen any games that don't run on Windows XP. I read that most games play faster with Windows XP than with Windows Vista, and Tom's recent article seems to state that Windows 7 isn't faster with gaming than Windows Vista. So bottom line, is there any point in switching to Windows 7 (or replacing my XP X64 with Windows 7)?

Anyway To Remotely Switch On / Off A Computer
In the interests of "Energy conservation" is there any sort of device that I could use to remotely power on a computer. I like to have a home server running - but these days with all the beefed up hardware we could be talking of 200 - 300 watts running all day and night when I'm only logged on for maybe 30 mins a day. If you take the number of people these days leaving computers running all the time thats a HUGE amount of "Wasted" energy to say nothing of adding to your electricity bills. There must be some engineer out there who could design a really SMALL device which is connected to your router. When you accessed this it could power on your machine. This device would say consume only 5 watts or so -- still not zero but a HUGE improvement over having the computer powered on all the time. Mind you these days in W. Europe - at least outside Germany whoever does Engineering anymore unfortunately. - A device like this however could make you HUGE bucks though.

Using USMT To Switch From XP To Win7
Saw some videos on this and they all mention a batch file to transfer all the application settings. Here's one of them: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd671583.aspx Does the tool generate it from the windows.old or do I have to write it myself? If so is there one I can copy/paste because I'm rather weak on the program writing side. I really want to know because I want to try Windows 7 RC and then upgrade fully to Windows 7. Also, does USMT also move over programs and applications saved to the hard drive, or will I have to copy/paste or reinstall them all over again regardless?

Switch Vs Router Issue
I am having a problem where Win 7 will identify my network as Public and will not let me change anything about it when I hardwire via my linksys SD205 switch. If I unplug the ethernet cable from the switch and plug directly into the router Win 7 will obtain the proper DNS values and will be assigned a IP address. Switching the cable back will cause Win 7 to go through the identification process again and again it will show me connected to a Public network. I have tried hard coding the IP, DNS, and gateway addresses in to the V4 tcp/ip settings, but that has no effect. My wi-fi works just fine. That is connected to a Linksys wireless access point which in turn is cabled into the router.

16 Port Switch And NAS Devices
I recently had a power supply failure on a Netgear 16 port switch (GS116) and managed to get a refurbed switch and power supply. My system set-up includes a number of terastations ranging from 1TB to 4 TB, all connected to the 16 port switch. My question relates to my oldest terastation, which cannot be accessed if connected to the new switch but can if use my old one. I thought a switch was pretty simple, it appears to not have any firmware to update. Is this a hardware issue?

Switch Computers With Retail Version
I am wondering what the process is to switch computers with a retail version of Windows. Say you have Windows 7 installed on one computer and need to do a clean install on a different one. How do you "de-activate" one to make the new install activate? I don't understand how this works. I will have to do it in the next few days with Vista and will need to do it with Windows 7 this winter. I assume you would just install on the new computer and have to call MS but I'm hoping it's easier than this.
