New Gaming Build Crashes Upon Entering Sleep Mode
May 6, 2011
I just finished my first build but my PC crashes every time it sleeps (whether the sleep is automatic or I initiate it). I've seen this mentioned a couple of times throughout the forums but I haven't seen an answer from anyone anywhere. Do I just need to return and replace my mobo?
Processor - i5-2500k
MOBO - Asus p8p67
GPU - MSI GTX 560ti
Memory - GSkill Ripjaws 8GB
PSU - SeaSonic X650 80+ Gold
HDD - Samsung Spinpoint 1TB
OS - W7 x64

Recently when entering sleep mode, the laptop does not go to sleep but crashes. When I go to restart the laptop, I get the windows as recovered from an unexpected shut down. However I have noticed it does not crash, when I first turn the laptop on and at the choose user screen. Here it goes to sleep fine and resumes fine, any other situation and it crashes.

I've been getting a BSOD fairly regularly when trying to enter sleep mode. I attached all the seven forums info but if theres anything else you need let me know.EDIT - Ive been messing around with it a bit and it seems the the BSOD can appear when trying to go into sleep or hibernate mode. It shows up inconsistently in both modes.

Just recently my computer has not been entering sleep mode. Nothing changed from last week and now it doesn't go. I can select sleep from the start up menu but it instantly turns back on. I went into device manager and deselected all usb and my wireless mouse and keyboard from waking the computer. Still won't sleep but now can enter sleep mode from the start menu and will stay asleep. However won't enter sleep by inactivity. If I unplug the usb receiver the computer will enter sleep like it use to. What going on? Even changed the batteries, because this happened a year ago and it was becuase they were dying

I have noticed that my desktop will not enter sleep mode. Instead, the screen enter energy saving mode and the system continues to remain active for about 10 minutes before turning off. As long as my system does not enter sleep mode, it works just fine. According to the dump file, the issue is caused by ntoskrnl.exe and an errormessageDRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

I keep getting BSOD when I try to put my 5 year old HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop in sleep mode, by either tapping the power button, or going through the start menu. This started happening a couple days ago, after Windows did an update.
I've done a system file check and it came up clean, and I also updated my video drivers, but to no avail. I don't really know where to go from here.

often, when I want to put computer into sleep mode or sometimes when I restart it, procedure doesn't finish, display usually turns off, but computer is still running. The only option is to turn it off manually by holding power button.
After restarting I have a lot of (15) errors in system log:
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the XXXXXX service.
XXXXXX = iphlpsvc, Schedule, SENS, BITS, CertPropSvc, EapHost ... etc.
Several days ago I have updated my bios and some drivers, so I suspect that the reason may be some driver.
I have dell latitude e4310 notebook running Win7x64 SP1.

Multiple times when ive put my laptop into sleep mode it has crashed when I turn it back on. It does not do it every time, just majority. After I have turned my laptop off normally and then turned it back on I get the windows has crashed screen, asking me if I would like to start my computer in safe mode or normal. I do not get a BSOD. The error message when i log back in says the files that describe the problem are: C:WindowsMEMORY.DMP.

Over the last week, my laptop has started to occasionally crash and switch off when it's in sleep mode - after this happens, it won't turn on when the power button is pushed, it'll only work again when it's plugged in. Once it's switched on again I get the black screen that tells me it wasn't shut down properly. I've followed several of the suggestions I've seen on various threads (the power settings upon closing lid are set at 'sleep', hybrid sleep is switched off, I keep it well ventilated, the drivers and BIOS are updated) and still it happens. I haven't done anything significantly different on the laptop, no new installations or updates that I can remember, it runs perfectly fine on battery power when it's awake, nothing else at all seems wrong. I only updated drivers and BIOS etc. after the first few times this happened.
I'm sure it's significant that the laptop is usually fine in sleep mode (even on battery power) and wakes up properly if it's been sat still in one place, and it only seems to crash while I'm moving it i.e. the power light is on when I pick the laptop up, I carry it to another room, set it down and the light has gone off. Also, in one instance after moving it I successfully woke the laptop from sleep, went to plug it in, and when I looked it again it had turned off.
It's still under warranty for another 60 days so I plan to take it in to be checked (I'm not smart enough to start taking apart a laptop, much less actually understand how to fix it), but until I can get to the store next week I'd really like to know what this could be.

I've been having this problem where my envy 14 laptop will attempt to go into sleep mode (or i'll close the lid) when in reality the screen just shuts off and everything else continues to run. At this point I can't wake the computer up and I have to hard reboot. If i leave the laptop in this pseudo sleep long enough it will just crash and I get the safe mode options upon rebooting.
I've rolled back graphics drivers and then updated again to no avail, I've run a system restore to no avail, I've reset all the power management settings to allow for sleep and changed the multimedia sharing options to allow for sleep as well, I've run multiple anti virus scans AND turned off all unnecessary start up programs, still, to no avail.
I have a lot of memory.dmp files all from this past week, how would i go about sharing and reading one of those?

I have a Dell Latitude E6420 with an Intel Core i7 processor and 4gb of RAM. Lately, my computer has become very sluggish; especially after coming out of sleep mode to the point I have to restart to have a decent performance. More importantly, often when in sleep mode or hibernation, the computer crashes. I've run two spyware programs (spybot and Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware) which removed a few issues, but the core problems persist. I've updated all microsoft programs (windows and office), run Norton virus scans, and CCleaner, but no change. Finally, I must say that at times the laptop runs really hot. That was never the case before.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 which I installed Windows 7 Professional (SP1) x86 from MSDN.Most times when the laptop is going to sleep from a power management sleep after x minutes, or closing the lid, this happens:The system appears to hang. There's no hard disk activity and nothing recorded in the event viewer around that time.- The screen is black and doesn't wake up- Capslock/numlock don't light up when toggledAnd I have to hold the power button to turn the system off. When I turn it back on there's no evidence of a bugcheck or error in any of the system event logs.

My computer system crashes when I play most video games (only company of heroes and civilization 5 wont crash). I have already ran all the stress tests including memtest 86+, prime95 and furmark without any errors/crashes. I suspected that it was a driver issue so I decided to do a clean reinstall of windows 7 and then install all the drivers. It had absolutely no effect I updated my motherboard and video card BIOS but that didnt help either. I tried disabling ULPS and 2D clocks for my video card but nothing happened. The only critical event that is logged in event viewer is "kernel ID 41" (Its just a notification that my computer was shut off unexpectedly). When the computer crashes, a black screen will appear and the last bit of audio that was playing will get distorted and it will keep on playing(It will make a loud BRRRRR noise).I have to then manually restart the computer and boot back into windows.

A couple of days ago I did something really stupid: I tried to download a game for free by following a tutorial which required me to install a Babylon toolbar from an ad. It didn't work, so I uninstalled all the babylon stuff and scanned my computer with Avira and Ad-aware, they came up with some detections and a hidden object and removed them. After that, I bought the game instead of downloading. However, my computer now randomly freezes when playing and seems slightly slower than before. As long as I'm not gaming, my computer functions normally, but starting the game makes my computer freeze and BSOD every 2 out of 3 times. Also my computer doesn't seem to make any minidumps, even after enabling it via those settings and trying tons of other ways.

My computer frequently crashes to a blank (black) screen when I play games like TES V or Fable III, and leaves me no alternative but to do a hard reset with the power button. I've cleaned out the air vents several times to no avail, and I'm pretty sure my video drivers are up to date. As far as I can tell the CPU isn't being overused either.I've had a very similar problem before, and last time cleaning the vents out with a compressed air can did the trick. The only difference last time is that it wasn't always a blank screen, sometimes it hard weird vertical lines all over it.

My computer will boot up to the windows startup logo, and just when it should load my desktop, it flashes a blue screen, and re-boots into recovery mode.
I just built a new computer using the new Intel 1155 socket CPU. As you may or may not know, all 1155 socket motherboards were recalled due to issues with the SATA ports. Long story short, I got a refund for my H-series Biostar motherboard, and when the revised motherboards were made available, i bought a P-series Asus motherboard. All of the system hardware is the same, accept the motherboard.
The computer was running fine with the H-series Biostar motherboard, but now that i have swapped for the Asus, i seem to be running into problems. My first instinct is that the leftover H-series motherboard driver is messing with my new P-series build, but i can't get to the control panel to remove it. I have found a way to pull up windows explorer when i boot into recovery mode. Is it possible for me to remove my old motherboard drivers through windows explorer, or will i need to gain access to the control panel?
Computer Details:
CPU: Intel i5 LGA 1155
MOBO: Asus P8P67-LE
Memory: G Skill 2*2GB
Video Card: PNY GeForce 9800 GT
PSU: Tried 380W and 650W, made no difference

This is a new pc build using various parts we have accumulated. When using Internet Explorer I get app crashes. I have been playing DC Universe Online and get random app crash, display drivers stop responding, apphangB1, I also lose monitor signal. Here is a list of fixes we have tried already:
-We have disabled internet explorer add ons and even tried disabling IE completely, to no avail
-We have swapped out the 5770 for an 8800 GTX that we know works, same problem
-We have the latest BIOS/drivers
-We have run SpeedFan, CPU temp 41C
-We have run Memtest for both sticks of RAM at the same time in slots 1 and 3 and there was an error, so we tried to isolate the bad RAM by testing invidivual sticks in slot 3 - no errors on either stick? therefore, we put the sticks in slots 3 and 4, assuming there may be a problem with slot 1 - worked ok for a couple of hours, then game crashes and black screen with sound requiring reboot. Monitor is fine, as it works on my BF's pc with no problems.
-We have tried a couple of installs of Windows 7
-We have run chkdsk - no errors. The BIOS is running on default, nothing overclocked - we have used the correct timings for the RAM and autotimed them, same problem
We are currently not using an antivirus because we did not want to add more problems, but we will get AVAST.My BF has given up now, as there is nothing else he can think of to try. I feel we are so close to resolving the issue, as it did run fine for a while, but then a bunch of errors all at once. If it helps, here is a copy of the error log.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Retail installed in my main 80GB Intel SSD roughly 2 years ago.All the hardware (image below) is fairly new except the hard drives which I am unsure of and have been reusing from build to build. I have 2 pairs of G.Skill RAM in different sizes, but same specs (2x2GB & 2x4GB). Crashes have been starting after installation of the 2X4GB RAM although I have been doing other tweaks to the computer from then on. Some registry stuff might have been accidentally deleted as well.So far, I've addressed my Realtek PCI-E reader's driver update as there was a problem relating to it and some video encoder. My Windows Media Player also freezes after watching ~10-20 minutes of a video and then switching over to another.

I recently build a new computer and installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit but I'm experiencing a range of problems.Almost all programs or utilities I download or attempt to install from CD fail giving me an error similar to the download package is corrupt.Windows Updates almost always fail, often giving me a BSOD. I have to install one update at a time and restart before attempting the next (and still most require half a dozen attempt to install)My computer restarts by itself every now and again and Windows gives me an error message (Windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down) This can happen within minutes or hours of the system being on.Internet Explorer and Firefox often crash and I can only get them working by rebooting.I have tried the following:
-Reinstalling Windows three times (twice on my SSD once on a HDD)
-Fitting different RAM and running MEM Check (which passed)
-Overclocking and stressing my CPU (which held-up)
-Installing latest drivers for MB, and VGA
-Removing the SSD
-Installing a new power supply.
-Using a select start-up with MSCONFIG
None of which worked. My CPU runs between 30 - 36C and system average is 23C so it's not an over heating issue.I don't know a massive amount about computers but I have tried everything I could think off.
