New Gateway Desktop - Will Not Recognize Second Monitor After Boot Screen
Apr 22, 2012
So I just got a new gateway dx4860-ub32p tower. The problem I am having is that when trying to use a second monitor for extended desktop the hdmi is not recognized. When I start the computer both monitors have the boot screen and starting windows screen. Past that only my monitor plugged in by vga cable is recognized. When I go to graphics options there is only one screen option shown. I am using windows seven the second monitor is a flat screen tv.
My Gateway laptop MD-8718u will not recognize a new battery. It had been updated to Windows 7 and because of that update much of the
MD-8718u
software (like the camera) became out of date. I went into the BIOS setting and enabled the "recognize battery" command and upon turn-on it automatically becomes disabled. Gateway has a BIOS update for Windows 7. When I tried to install it, I received a "BIOS Unflashable" message or something like that. Being a integrated motherboard, the BIOS is probably soldered to it and difficult to replace. Can anyone tell me how to get my system to accept the new battery?
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a Macbook Pro, and I would like to use the laptop screen as well as my ASUS 23" lcd monitor. When I open the display > screen resolution window, it shows that I have only one display, and gives me no options for multiple displays. The same image is displayed on both screens. My 2nd monitor is hooked up through DVI, and worked just fine with Windows XP. Does anyone know what my problem might be?
suddenly my win 7 ultimate won't recognize viewsonic vg2230wm LCD monitor. Installation of driver doesn't help. It always show non-PnP monitor and max 1024x758 resolution which should be 1680x1050. Hardware id shows just default monitor. However win 7 recognize my other monitor correctly. I'm out of options.
I am running a Geforce GT 240 in a HP Pen 4 quad core with 1 Terabit hard drive and a 19 in LCD HD Emmerson TV / PC Monitor and i can't get the sesolutions to match with out having to resize the desktop to a smaller resolution. And all my resolution are not available.
So I went on a three day trip. When I got home, I turned on my computer. The cooling unit made an unusual noise, and all of a sudden the monitor turned off, as well as the computer. Now, whenever I turn on the computer, it works perfectly fine (The cooling unit noise is gone also) but the monitor just goes to the ASUS boot logo and tells me VGA no signal. Even that only happens sometimes, it will mostly just remain in sleep mode. Things I have done:
- Tried with a different monitor - Tried with DVI cable
I wish I could tell you my graphics card but I just don't remember.
I have had a dual monitor setup with my laptop(Inspiron 1545 with GM45 Intel Card) extending to a regular LCD screen. It worked for two months and until recently has stopped working.I have uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled the newest drivers, changed the cables(power supply and VGA), system restored back a month to when it was working, and changed the power outlet. This originally worked flawlessly and now the laptop is not recognizing any device I attach via the VGA output. I have plugged the laptop into another monitor with no avail as well. I find it hard to believe that this would stop working one day with no notice or any problems. I have also tried attaching a projector that had worked for over a year with the laptop and have gotten nothing.
I receive a black screen as if to say this something being outputted, but nothing is displayed. Both windows screen resolution and the intel GUI both do not recognize another device. [code]
my gateway 5260 stopped booting past the splash screen or loading screen in all instances...startup repair, loading windows normally and safe mode. It did this gradually first loading into safe mode and startup repair and now nothing boots up... i have changed my RAM... tried a recovery disk... tried himen's boot cd and trinity rescue kit 3.4...... tried windows defender scan.. no viruses... no RAM errors.
I am receiving an error message on my Gateway One ZX4300-01e. It continues to ask me to: Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key.I bought this computer on ebay. it was a seller refurbished item and does not have a boot recovery disk.
have a Gateway desktop pc which freezes when I leave it idle, usually within 5-10 minutes it'll freeze. My hijackthis report can be seen at . can any let me know what's wrong?Mod Edit: Removed link to HJT log, not used/allowed in this forum - Hamluis.I've checked the cpu temp as well as ran spyware/antivirus to no avail.
My computer has had sporatic blue screens at the end of windows 7 bootup. The diagnostic tools will not run. Gateway recovery management will run, but when I select the option for a restoration, it says my hard drive is not in the factory default. I'd like to just restore the computer- how to reset the hard drive factory default or to get around this error?
I did a restore to factory default then it says it's missing something. Then I restarted it now it says missing operating system. The I have a gateway desktop.
I have a three monitor set up. Whenever I open up a browser, either internet explorer or google chrome on monitors 2 and 3, after a few seconds it automatically drags my browser into my main monitor(monitor 1, where my start button and status bar is located)
I have a gateway desktop with the windows 7 it is stuck on Saying setup is starting services, I do not have my origional windows 7 setup disk. What do I need to do to get my computer up and running again.
My Windows 7 Desktop won't recognize any wirless USB adapters at all. My windows 7 laptop recognizes what it is, but my desktop just beeps 3 times, instead of the usual sound when you plug a USB device in, and won't recognize it at all
My problem is that after turning on the power for the very first time, it will not recognize my keyboard. I have several different keyboards and I tried them all- including the Acer keyboard that came with the PC.I think my mistake was that before turning on the power, I had plugged in both an HDMI connection to my TV as well as a DVI connection to an Acer 23" monitor. Then when I powered up the PC, it defaulted to the HDMI output but I didn't realize that and was expecting it to displa on the monitor. It took me a while to figure out that it defaulted to the HDMI connection. I started out by looking at my monitor and couldn't figure out why there was no activity on the monitor. But once I switched the TV input to "HDMI 1", I saw the output was displayed on my TV.Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to recognize any keyboard now although it does make a "clicking" sound when I press keys on the keyboard. I tried to press WIN+P to change the HDMI output to show the same output on both the TV and the monitor but it seems to default to "side by side" and the only thing that I can think to do now is to pull out the power cord plug and try to re-boot with just the monitor connected and without the HDMI connection. When I hit the "power off" button, it has no effect. Should I pull out the power cord from the outlet? Or is there some other way to get it to reboot?
Infected with FBI virus also in safe mode. Trying to change boot sequence to use a recovery disk suggested but cant get past the bios F12 password. Blank tried but comes back "invalid password"
I have a Gateway MX6421 Notebook. It's serial Number is T355C11004826. I currently powers on very slowly with an average boot time of 6 Mins. I have tried updating the bios & drivers with no result
In the process of trying to create a dual booting system, all I have managed to do is create one big mess. I cannot boot up my machine. The only way I can boot up is by using Paragon Recovery Media. I put in the Paragon disk and it ask me what I want it do? I select find OS'es on my computer. In another window it shows Win 7. I click on that and my machine boots right up. This is the only way to boot my computer. I have tried re-installing the OS. I can't do a 'clean' install because my machine won't boot up. I have tried everything I know, I am totally stumped. I ran CHKDSK, no problems there.
Primary: Samsung Syncmaster 19 Inch widesreen 1400 * 900 Secondary: LG E2541 25 Inch Widescreen 1980 * 1080 OS: Windows 7 64bit VideoCard: Nvidia Geforce 560 Ti
I use my primary mostly for browsing, msn, music players, Ventrilo etc etc,I want to use my secondary Monitor for gaming Watching Videos. However, when i want to use something Full screen on my secondary monitor it goes full screen on the primary monitor. I cant also run it in windowed mode and stretch it out to full screen, it does not allow me to do that, it goes back to the size of my primary Monitor.
Ps.I want this since i play mostly with fullscreen borderless or in windowed mode so i can still browse the internet or adjust music/ventrillo settings. I dont want to have an Taskbar below the game, so thats why i need it on the Second Monitor.
I'm trying to wipe my pc, and reinstall windows 7. I have to use a downloaded version. It's legit, I've used it before. I just want to rid my pc of all the crap on it.I have a toshiba satellite p755d. It won't boot from any kind of media, nor does it seem to recognize it until windows is loaded.I went to the bios to change the boot order but I couldn't find that option anywhere. I've tried all the function keys as well as holding down the "c" button when the pc boots up.The most I get is a "Windows Error 'something'" I can't remember what it says at something.
I run win 7 sp1 on dell inspiron 1520 Its dvd-writer was damaged, so i bought an external Transcend dvd-writer and its working properly but when i insert a bootable cd in it and want to boot the windows from it, the windows does not recognize it and boots normally from internal hard driver as usuall. I am sure the cd is bootable and have tested it in other systems.
I setup my pc with 2 harddisk. I dual boot xp 32-bit and windows 7 64-bit on 1 harddisk and other harddisk is for my data storage for xp and 7. The problem is that windows 7 recognize the 2 harddisk and I can access the data but xp won't. Xp can see the harddisk on 'my computer' but it was listed RAW.
Anyone know how to fix it so that xp and 7 can access the 2nd harddisk?
Do you remember Windows 95? You could set your desktop resolution bigger than the resolution of your monitor (it could have a 1024x768 desktop with a VGA monitor - 640x480). Now we all have monitors with a resolution of almost 1280x1024 (mine is 1680 x 1050). We have twice as much space in size, but almost five times as number of opened programs. Regardless of many windows programs (like the ones I use, and I think many others), which, of course, engage, are contextual, but reduce the space available for the job.I already throw some programs that allow you to manage more virtual desktop, but they are able to separate programs, not to give you more space.
I already throw some programs (like gimespace) that they simulate the desktop oversize shifting all visible windows into a direction, but if a context switch off a window, I shift the desktop and the context reshow that window, it will appair in the same phisical location. But I like exactly that Windows 7 makes exactly what Win95 did.
