View 1 Repliesmy Toshiba laptop screen stays black, my laptop turns on but the screen stays black, I have tried many steps and none has proved, I wonder if it has to do with a cable or is the screen that needs to be replaced.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought a computer and I have found that when I turn it on it runs normally until after the "Resuming Windows" screen, where everything turns off and the screen goes black. It had been running well for the last few days, so this came out of nowhere.I have searched this problem and I come up with a bunch of different solutions but no one agrees. The most common reason (apparently) is my version of Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) and I need to install something or other. But I can't even get to the desktop, and no one really explains it simply. Nvidia GTX 580 (Latest 285.62 Drivers)
Windows 7 64 Bit
I've had this computer about 2 months and everything was working great until today. This problem started out of nowhere. I didn't mess around with drivers etc.
Anyway, when I switch on my computer, the bios screen loads up..followed by the Windows 7 loading splash screen. Then just when the welcome screen should appear, my monitor turns to standby and says that it's not receiving an input signal.
I booted in safe mode and removed the drivers. I restarted my PC and it worked and my desktop appeared. However when i install the drivers again and restart the computer as required by the driver installation..the same problem as above reappears.
My monitor is connected via a HDMI cable to the GTX 580.
EDIT: When I go to device manager and right click the GTX 580..there is an option to roll back drivers. I clicked this and it now shows as a VGA Adapter. I restarted and my computer booted up...but obviously in low resolution as no previous drivers were ever installed since i bought the PC with up to date drivers.
I also just installed 290.53 BETA drivers. Restarted and my computer now just hangs at the welcome screen. I can still boot in safe mode which is how i'm managing to write this.
I recently bought an ASUS X54HY-SX060 laptop.
I installed Windows 7 on my own and started installing drivers. At first, I downloaded and installed drivers for ASUS x54h laptop, not x54hy because it says ASUS X54H on the sticker on the laptop.
I figured it out I was installing the wrong drivers so I installed new ones. Everything was fine, until for the last few days.
I turn on the laptop and everything is fine until the desktop shows and then my screen turns off. It's completely black. I have to restart my computer (sometimes few times) in order to work. I tried reinstalling the drivers. I completely deleted them with DriverSweeper and installed them again. I tried repairing the Windows, but the problem is still here.
I'd like to solve the problem without reinstalling the Windows (but I will do that if it's necessary). I googled the problem many times without finding anything useful.
Not sure if this is a WMC/Windows 7 issue or a TV issue.
I have an HTPC hooked up to a TV via an HDMI matrix. When I run the screensave (photo gallery) on my WMC I lose the signal to the TV very 20-25 minutes. I know this as I get a "No Signal" message. When I click on the keyboard the signal resets. This does not occur if I am watching a movie in WMC. Only when the screen save is running.
I don't seem to get this when I run the screen saver (photo gallery) on Apple TV through the same TV. It plays indefinately.
Is there a setting in WMC that turns off the screen saver slide show? Or is this a problem with my TV/Signal?
Turns out all my problems were an aged battery, according to the tech shop who reinstalled windows after some deeprooted viruses. But now my laptop won't shut down all the way, but the screen turns off. The keyboard's LEDs stay on, and the fan keeps blowing. It stayed that way for at least five minutes, between me getting a snack and coming back. I don't know if they reinstalled from the disc that shipped with the laptop or gave me a knew windows 7, but this particular issue only started when they reinstalled the OS.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi just got over my BSOD problem by disabling crossfire on my system. It was working fine for a few days (And it still technically is), but I'm having a strange issue now. The computer turns on and loads windows fine, but the screen is black until Windows actually loads. Basically, I don't see a splash screen for the motherboard and there's no way for me to get into the BIOS.

I formated it yesterday, so I doubt it would be a virus.Sometimes it goes black, and picture returns within a few seconds, but other times it freezes up completely. When I restart it (with the power button) I cant get pasted the BIOS screen, but if I unplug the power supply, and hit the power button a few times and then plug in the power, it starts up like normal. (does that make it a RAM issue?)Freezes have happened doing the following: Using XBMC (both in menus and while watching a video), while Internet Download Manager was running. While file transfer was running, and a few times while i wasnt at the computer.Specs:Windows 7 Ultimate x64ATI Radeon HD 5670Intel Core i3 CPU6GB RAMPhillips TV (Connected with HDMI)

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is the right section to post this but, ever since I reformatted my laptop, it randomly freezes for about a second and a stuttering noise comes up. Then the screen turns black. It doesn't shut off because I could see the back light, it just turns completely black. What's causing this problem and how do I fix it? I checked the Event Logger and there are tons of errors and some critical kernal-power things.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I play Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, the desktop is stock from Dell with ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB video card. It plays fine for 2 hrs or so then the screen would freeze for about 3 seconds and then the screen goes black for 10 to 15 second. Sometimes the game recovers sometimes the PC would crash.FYI I am a computer newbie. Below are my set up.

I have this problem where my screen will turn black or turn off after a short while of playing games. I installed Windows 7 recently and then installed Borderlands and COD4. Both games run fine at lowest settings but after about 15-20 minutes of playing, my screen would just turn off and I'd have to switch the laptop off using the power button to reboot.
I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 problem, graphic card issue, or heat related issue since my notebook fan is not working and i'm using a notebook cooler.
I was playing around with Task Scheduler to turn on laptop at specific time, it works great. However, while the system starts up just fine, the screen remains black until I touch the mousepad. Now that doesn't seem like a big deal, but what I was experimenting with is having the computer turn on so I could use TeamViewer app on my phone to access my desktop when I'm not home. Problem is, TeamViewer won't access desktop if screen is black and if I am not physically present, I can't tap the mousepad
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an MSI a6205 laptop, and have recently reformatted my computer to reset everything in it. My problem is this: Ever since I re-installed Windows 7 my computer has been starting up, getting to the little 'Starting Windows' animation, then the screen turns off completely, with no back light (the fans and LEDs still function perfectly). The way I have been getting it to work is by turning it on, waiting for the screen to turn off, then tapping the power button and putting it to sleep, after a few seconds I hit the power button again to awake it, and the screen turns on and functions perfectly.
I know this isn't a hardware issue, because I also have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on the machine, and it works perfectly. It's just Windows 7 that is giving me this problem.
This will happen to me every once in a while, I'll either be watching a movie on Blu-Ray or I'll have a movie in iTunes playing, and after about an hour it will turn the screen saver on, and I've looked everywhere in the control panel for an option to turn it off selectively, and I cannot find one, is there a way to do this?

This usually happens coming out of full screen from Windows Media Center, but sometimes after a reboot.
I can turn off my tv (Sony Bravia - 52" LCD - KDL-52W4100) and turn it back on then the problem is fixed. Sometimes I can go full screen and back out again and that will fix it.
I have HDMI connection - Windows 7100 - I have the latst Nvidia drivers 186.. - I have tried a different HDMI cable also.
Just today i read a post stating that java has a bad virus. Know that i ran a malwarebites scan and it found 1 harmful item and i deleted the item. After restarting my computer from a prompt, my lenova v570 laptop now turns on with a black screen and a movable cursor right after the windows "welcome screen".
ctrl + alt + delete does not work
I have tried in safe mode and it turns on properly. So, i tried to do what others sujjested on other forums, which was to " roll back my graphics driver" after that, nothing has change.

-wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration

I am aware of the fact that my current gfx cards may be low end for DNF (Radeon 5750x2) but what is happening is that the game shuts down the monitor ingame. Like shutting down the signal (?). This occurs anytime from 5 minutes in to the game up to 30 minutes or so.
Only solution to get signal back is a hard reset.I have set up a GPU monitoring software (AMD Overdrive) to measure temps and will post logs here later, my intention with this post is to figure out any other verification measure I might take to verify that this is indeed this game overloading gfx cards?
