View 1 RepliesI recently purchased a used computer, running Win 7 Pro, that was configured with a display language of Spanish (Mexico was the set location). I changed all of the display and language settings and restarted, but annoyingly, the title of the Guest account is still in Spanish, as are many of the Programs and files within folders in the Start menu (CD Burner XP, Intel ProSet Wireless, etc.) How do I finish configuring the computer so that everything is in English?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've decided that I want to use a Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB for my Win 7 OS C-drive and my WD 500GB drive as my E-drive for files.
The problem is that I thought of this after installing it on the 500GB drive.
Will it be okay to reinstall on the new drive if I delete Win 7 on the old one?
If so, is it pretty simple to reformat a drive with an OS on it?
I bought a copy of Windows 7, one pc worth and I installed it to my 32g SSD by accident. I have a 500g HDD just sitting there wishing it had Windows 7 on it and I am curious how I can resolve this situation. I bought the SSD to put my game on it and run it much faster

In the list of downloaded & installed updates are Internet9 pt PT Language Pack, TW, CN, FR,& ES Language packs. As I am only using English on my laptop would it be okay to un-installed these Language Packs.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy computer has been dead for the last few days so to speak. For two days ago I turned on my computer - it started up just like any other day. I saw the Desktop and bang, blue screen of death. This has not happened since I installed Windows on my new SSD Harddisk (I'm running with two disks, one SSD for Windows and a HDD for everything else), so I simply started my computer again. (My computer worked just fine last weekend, no problems at all. I had a Windows Update and then this happened..).During the set-up it stopped after the Motherboard-image - I had to chose between starting Windows Normal or repair it. Starting Windows normally does not help - it just give me BSOD right before or right after hitting the desktop. (Sometimes even before the Welcome-screen). So choosing to repair Windows during the setup is the only thing I can do.
By doing so, Windows searches for errors. I get the following error codes: 0x0 0x490 ..and some with 6 f's.(Today and yesterday I only got 0x0, which apparently stands for 'unknown').Hitting F8 during setup and loading Windows in safe-mode (/secure mode?) does not help either, I get BSOD here as well.I have tried to change the boot location (different disks and from CD). As a standard, its booting from my harddisk - all though it's booting from the wrong disk (the HDD). When I'm choosing the SSD I can't get any further and I get the message: "Missing Bootmgr..". The only way to boot the computer correctly (and maybe fix the missing boot manager) is by booting from a Windows 7 CD. I get the same two options (Normal / Repair) when booting from the CD though.. When I chose repair it seems to be fixing something - but in the end it says it couldn't find any errors. I have also tried to enter the following commands into the CMD: Bootrec /fixmbr Bootrec /fixboot Bootrec /rebuildbcd.The first two are completed with no errors or messages. The last one is unable to find any Windows installations (this happen when using both C and D).
I am able to use a safety backup copy which I took when I all out of sudden got access to the computer.. (Don't ask my why or how!), that is however not solving the problem, it's only allowing me to load the computer once. When it's loading it's checking the disk first and then loading normally -- I just tried that for a few minutes ago and my screen just turned black.
this is what I did, since I have no CD-ROM, to install Windows 7 I created a partion X: NTFS and set it as the ACTIVE ONE, the put there the Windows 7 installation files, and opened prompt command to type bootsect.exe /n60 X: , next I restarted my computer, and automatically it booted into the Windows 7 setup, I installed Windows 7 on the partition C: and formatted the partition C:, everything installed and after the installation finished, a multiple choice menu appears that reads:[CODE]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am about to purchase an asus laptop in Germany (with Windows 7 HP on). Now I know I can't change the system language (need windows ultimate for that) but I believe on Asus computers you can select English as the display language on the initial install (so each shop is telling me) and so i have read (which i don't really understand as why can you do this on ASus laptops only - surely windows is windows? ie you can or you can't!).
If this is true i was wondering just what will be changed into English (i.e. what exactly is the display language)? I gather the majority of menus etc will be in English, but what about if my laptop goes wrong and I have to start digging a bit deeper? Does anyone know if all the settings menus change so i'll be able toedit the registry if need be (just an example!).

So basically my question is how do i make wei read my ssd instead of my hdd as the primary hard disk like it was before?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I start my computer I get a bunch of error messages. Multiple things not working. I've seen a few similar issues posted here and I've tried the suggestions but they didn't work. I've tried running maintenance tasks, but they crash in the middle (related to the error messages I think). I also had the problem of whenever I started my computer or opened it, the internet would shut off. My screen would blink off and then on. I've checked for viruses, run multiple anti-spyware, and tried restoring my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI originally had Vista Ultimate x64 and Windows 7 x64 dual booting fine.
I had a problem with Windows 7 - my fault- needing me to restore an Acronis backup.
I still am able to dual boot but Windows 7 now uses the Vista boot up sequence up to the Welcome screen, i.e. it does not show the sexy new dots morphing into the Windows Logo.
Any ideas where to look for an answer.
I attempted to upgrade my Vista Ultimate x64 to Win 7 Ultimate x64 yesterday and the upgrade process failed.
The install rolled back to my Vista install and all is good, but I really want to upgrade to 7 (and not do a clean install)
Can anyone help me out with how to diagnose what may have gone wrong with the upgrade? Is there an install log file somewhere that I can have a look at to discover the problem?
I think I may know the source of the problem, but would like to confirm it before moving forward.
The upgrade did tell me that my Silicon Image RAID controller may not work properly after the upgrade. But I don't have any drives connected to it. My system drive is a RAID 0 array on my Intel ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID controller.
I've got a question. I have a computer running windows 7 64 bit, Home Premium. The computer name is "Laptop", verified in Computer -> Properties. I have another computer whose name is "Machine-A". For some weird reason, whenever I do "ping Machine-A" on the command line, it would return pinging from 127.0.0.1 . Why does it think "Machine-A" is the computer name?I did "ipconfig /flushdns", and didn't work. Then I did "ipconfig /flushdns" then "ipconfig /registerdns" and did not fix the problem
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 7. I have a D-link DIR-615 wireless router in my living room and my computer has an adapter in order to connect to the internet. I had Windows XP and didn't experience any problems before. The problem is that when i typed my network password in (using windows 7), it said that the passphrase was wrong. I reseted my router and used the password and it worked just fine, so i dont think that its the router's or the adapter's fault. When i turned my PC on the next day, i experience the same problem. I cannot connect to my network. I was never asked to put my password in again to connect to the network when i was using XP and i cannot reset my router every time i turn my pc on cause there are other people in the house that are using the network. Other computers, laptops and my iphone can connect just fine.
