Media Center Starts On Wrong Screen
I have a dual screen setup (PC & TV) & just upgraded from mce2005. Whenever mce2005 started up, media center automatically displayed on my tv screen rather than my pc monitor. With Windows 7 it seems to display on my PC monitor at startup, even though I have dragged it onto the tv screen the previous time I used it. Is there a way I can get it to start up on my tv screen but keep my PC monitor as my primary screen? My video card is an nVidia GeForce 7300LE PS It's also time for a video card upgrade as live TV is very choppy - would people recommend ATI or nVidia?

Cursor Issues With Media Center In Dual Monitor Setup
I have my PC hooked up to my HDTV in a dual-monitor setup (main screen is LCD panel, second screen is HDTV). When I have Windows Media Center maximized on either screen, I am unable to move my mouse cursor onto the other screen until I either restore down or close Windows Media Center. Is there a way to allow the cursor to move to other screen while Windows Media Center is maximized? As far as I am aware, this is the only program that locks the cursor onto the current screen while maximized (legacy video games may have this same effect if they don't use the Windows cursor).

Digitalriver Student Promotion: Wrong Language Upgrade
I recently purchased Win7 x64 upgrade through the Canadian student promotion I got through e-mail. Download worked fine, everything worked fine until I started installing the upgrade... I got the promotional e-mail in English, my Vista version is French... Nothing in the e-mail and the purchasing process mentionned that there were multiple language versions... So now I can't upgrade since we can't upgrade fr-CA to en-CA... Anyway to get an fr-CA upgrade download in replacement? I sent 2 messages to digitalriver with my order number and never got any reply (that was a month ago). And a suggestion: the language issues should be clearly indicated on the website, I didn't even know I had an english-only version before I started installing it.

Setting Up A Home Media Network Using Media Center And Media Extenders
I am trying to setup a media network for my new home that's being built. What I want to accomplish is a network that can feed my 5 TVs live feeds or be able to record up to 4 or so TV shows at once. But I wanted it all to come from one centeralized location. I know that I can do this with Windows Home Server and Windows 7 Media Center and then I know that I need a media extender for each TV. Other than that what else do I need? Can I just have one cable box plugged into the Server and have that feed all the TVs or do I need one cable box for each TV and do I need a Tuner Card in the Server for each TV? How many TV Cards can Windows 7 support at one time? How many Media Extenders can support one TV Card? I want to store my movies and music and pictures in this same server that I'm using for the live TV and DVR so what specs on the server do you recommend?

Realtek HD Audio - Wrong Codec
i'm having issues with the realtek HD audio drivers. i just installed the latest version (2.24 i think) and i have no sound. note, i did not have a prior working version under windows 7 - i just installed windows 7 RC today for the first time. one possible issue is that it appears to be using the wrong codec - i believe that i need the ALC882 codec, but in windows 7, it appears to have installed the ALC885 codec. anyone know how to change the codec?

Media Center Freezes On Change Media File With Waiting To Finish Network I/O
I upgraded my Media Center computer to Windows 7 Ultimate (x86) some months ago and ever since the Media Center Application occasionally freezes. It seems to happen when there is a rapid change of what is played for example when a track is skipped. Looking in resource monitor I can see that the in the wait chain for the service "svchost.exe (LocalServiceAndNoImpersonation)" that it is waiting to finish network I/O and other processes seems to be waiting for this process. I use DWL-G510 Wireless PCI Adapter (rev C) Driver version: 2.1.6.0 The computer is part of homegroup. Any suggestions on how to continue analyzing and resolving this problem? I thought I would try with a different network adapter but I would like to know if there is any config changes I might try first.

Media Center DVD Play Stutters, Media Player Doesn't
Playing a DVD via Media Center sees it pause (freeze) for a second or two every 10 minutes or so. No other apps are open at the time. Closing WMC and playing the DVD in Media Player doesn't show this behaviour. Booting into Vista 32 and then playing the DVD gives no pauses on either WMC or WMP. Dual-boot Dell E520, ATI X1300 card, 2GB RAM, loads of HD space. Â No other codecs than the Win7-supplied ones have been installed. The Paging file is set to a fixed 4 GB on a separate partition.

Media Player 12 / Media Center - Multiple Cds Albums Sorting In Library
I have some problems to sort the music files in the library. If there is an album with more than one disc, the sorting is like that: 1 - track 1 CD1 1 - track 1 CD2 2 - track 2 CD1 2 - track 2 CD2 etc... I would like more logical sorting like this: 1 - track 1 CD1 2 - track 2 CD1 etc... 1 - track 1 CD2 2 - track 2 CD2 etc... Do you see what I mean ? It seems that WMP/WMC doesn't sort using the "disc number" tag of the file (as it should be). Is there any way to sort it fine without creating 2 different albums for a 2 disc album ?

Problem With Default H.264 Codec In Media Player / Media Center
There is a problem with the new default H264 codec in Windows 7 I have around 380 DVDs ripped to H264 by using Xillisoft DVD Ripper (apple tv h264 profile) bit rate max 800, frame rate 25 Now in Vista media center all of these movies played just fine (using the Community Codec Pack) Windows 7 default codec pack and only about 10 of the ripped films actually work, the rest of them are just a black screen, some play with sound, some dont play at all. This is when I try and play them in Win7 Media Player or Media Center. Now if I use Quicktime or another media player (VLC for instance) using the CCCP codec pack, they work perfectly fine in windows 7 (but still dont work in Win 7 Media Player or Media Center). Some something is seriously screwed in the Microsoft codecs

These are original discs, not burned copies. I have a custom built system, with 2 graphics cards (GTX 260 and a GT 220) 6 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mapped Network Media Not Present In Media Center
Music stored on a mapped network drive does not appear on Media Center or Media Player. The folder can be seen clearly in "libraries" and tracks in the mapped drive can be selected and play perfectly through Media Center but only one at a time. Also whilst playing, the backdrop is a grid of images of all of the albums in the "invisible" folder. If I copy albums from the networked folder to c:users...My Music then add this folder to the libraries, then these albums show and play clearly in Media Center.

Dual Boot With XP, Boots From Wrong Drive
I installed windows 7 x64 RC a while back, and it detected windows xp and set up a dual boot. All was well. I had a PSU failure, and i replaced the PSU. I set the BIOS to boot from the drive with windows 7 on it. It wouldn't boot. I set the bios to boot from the drive with windows Xp on it, and it booted to the dual boot screen. Apparently, windows 7 placed the boot information on the old XP drive, so if i try to boot to windows 7 from the windows 7 drive, its a no go. Now, this wouldnt' bug me so much, except that i want to replace the Xp drive with a larger 1tb drive. I don't need XP anymore, and do need storage (xp drive is 160gb). if i remove the XP drive, windows 7 won't boot. How can i fix this?

Backup System Image Is Created From Wrong Partition In Dual Boot
I have a dual boot win7RC x64 and vistax32 ultimate. The vista32 partition is on the primary drive and is the first partition. Win7 is on a partition on a secondary drive. When booted to Win7 the vista partition is visible as G: by activating it though the disk manager tool. When I try to create a system image with Win7 backup (both RC and Beta) the backup app states that it's trying to create a system image of (G:). It gets to 57% and doesn't complete. This seems to be a consistent problem with backup app. Anyone else have this? Solutions?

Media Center Codec
I'm having problems play an original DVD movie. I get sound but no video. I tried doing a re-install and it fixes the video problem, but then I have no sound. I think either my Audigy 2 drivers or my ENLTV(which is the a program my tv tuner uses to play live tv) is interfering with the default codec. My question is...."How can I set my windows media center/player codecs to default or fix this issue?" VLC plays DVD fine. And all other video formats play fine on WMC as well.

I tried to get the fault condition, but the screen went dark within a few seconds of bsod...

Media Center On Via Epia EX
I recently downloaded windows 7 for my Epia EX PC. It works fine except that Mediacenter won't work in full screen mode. It just shows a flashing mouse. I'm currently using a s-video cable to a crt TV, but I added my LCD monitor and tried to make Mediacenter fullscreen on that in dual monitor mode, but that didn't work either. When I had it full screen on one display, and selected another window on the other display it would appear in full screen untill I clicked back onto it and it would disappear. The graphics are onboard and are "Via/S3G UniChrome Pro II IGP" and fully updated using Microsoft Update. http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/mainboards/motherboards.jsp?motherboard_id=450 Any idea why it wouldn't be working?

Media Center Codec Issues
Just installed 7 Professional (had been using vista home premium) but i'm running into what i'm guessing is a codec problem. It manifests it self with 1 dvd in particular that stutters at the same spot every time when playing through Media center or Media Player (x86 and x64). However, when I play the DVD with Powerdvd, it plays flawlessly. I've tried removing the dts/dvd codec (turning if off rather, following this post exactly: Windows 7 Media Center (7MC) Codec Configuration Bible - v. 1.9 - The Green Button) alas, nothing I do can get the blasted thing to play in 7MC! I've also tried reformatting the HD, and simply installing the shark007 codec pack, having ffdshow run everything. Nada. Is there some other trick to getting another codec (such as powerdvd's) to take control of the dvd playback in 7mc or am I stuck with this?
