Loss Of Wirelss Connectivity In Windows 7?

Sep 26, 2012

I recently downloaded updates from MS and since rebooting I have lost all wireless connectivity. When I ran ipconfig /all in a command window it shows ethernet connection but not wireless. In network it shows wireless card is connected but there is no TCP/IPv4 or 6 connectivity. I am using Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter. I have updated to the latest drivers for the adapter but NO success!Diagnostic message is about windows not being able to bind to TCP stack etc.Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bitProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10Processor Count: 2RAM: 4090 MbGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce G 105M, 512 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 464838 MB, Free - 82861 MB; E: Total - 381554 MB, Free - 171085 MB; F: Total - 2861578 MB, Free - 510054 MB; G: Total - 476939 MB, Free - 64575 MB;Motherboard: Packard Bell, SJM50MVAntivirus: BullGuard Antivirus, Updated and Enabled

Loss Of Wireless Connectivity Windows 7 HP 64bit (after Update)?

The wireless adapter does NOT appear in ipconfig! but Ethernet does.Ethernet works properly.Unable to rollback/system restore as all deleted (don't know how or why). There is no wireless connectivity and with a USB wireless adapter the same problem. Hardware installs and says working OK, but unable to connect to wireless also.

Ipconfig is:

Loss Of Network Connectivity

Jun 11, 2009

This has been an issue since I upgraded to 7201. It isn't constant, and seems to be worse when I'm downloading large files, especially multiple files from one source (like an album in iTunes). It is fixed by release/renew (or just letting Diagnostics do that).

If I'm not using a lot of data (regular web browsing, working on a database online, etc), it seems perfectly fine. It is holding so far downloading one track at a time on iTunes, but if I do 2, it drops the connection.

I'm using the Home network config, router is working normally, and I can't recall this happening before 7201. I've reset the router, upgraded firmware, and it only happens on this PC. I've set WINS, tried all settings for TCP/IP 4 and 6, and using the other ethernet port on my motherboard.

More of an annoyance, really, but I can't figure it out and it is bugging the hell out of me.

EDIT: I can still get 1 mb/s on a single download, but trying 2, I get 600/400 for about 10-15 seconds until it disconnects.

2 Networks Intermittant Loss Of Connectivity

Jun 28, 2011

just came over from XP Pro...had to get a 64-Bit machine; & went w/ an ASUS running Win7 Home...which I upgraded to Pro.I began to lose my internet connectivity, intermittently & noticed that, when it happened, the Network icon in the task bar showed TWO networks...(???).one labeled 'Network - No Internet Access'& the other labeled: 'Unidentified Network - No Internet Access'.Sometimes the problem would go away if i rebooted, but eventually it became a permanent dilemna.Verizon checked my modem...said it was fine, but sent me a new one anyway. Same problem continued. Took the PC back to Best But & swapped it for a new one...& it's been fine 'till this evening. It denied me access once.I rebooted; & got it back. Obviously, something is amis w/ Win 7 Pro in the way the network connection is set up.can't be two modems or two computers.I noticed it seems to happen right around the time that the OS goes looking for windows updates not in the same category.

Sudden Loss Of Internet Connectivity?

Jan 11, 2010

Two days ago I lost internet connectivity suddenly on my desktop (Dell XPS 630i, onboard Nvidia network controller, running windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) and have been unable to restore it. As my laptop (winXP sp3) can still connect to the internet and the router settings have not been changed (Dlink DGL4500), I'm making the assuption that my networking problem resides on my desktop alone. the network adapter gives me a 'limited connectivity' symbol and refuses to connect to my network, even though the router acknowledges the desktop's wired connection. The troubleshooting diagnostic sometimes finds nothing, sometimes finds that the computer is not obtaining a proper IP, and sometimes claims the problem is the router. I've also disabled windows firewall. Throughout this whole process I have been getting a 'Drive Power State Failure' BSOD during restarts (about once every four or five restarts, not consistently).

At first I was unable to replace the drivers or uninstall the adapter through device manager. After reinstalling the drivers using the Nforce 650SLI drivers on their website, I was able to do this, but this did not solve the problem. I also did a windows restore to before the problem occured, also with no luck. I've been through the event log and there are numerous code 5007 errors, which just tell me that the adapter timed out during an operation. I've also read through some forums online and tried several solutions including adding a DhcpConnBcastFlagToggle line into the registry: SOLVED: Network Icon Exclamation: No Internet

Installed SpiderOak - Loss Of Browsing / Email Connectivity

May 14, 2011

I have a Toshiba M750 TabletPC running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Never had a problem until a few days ago, possibly until I installed SpiderOak's latest version, 9810. (SpiderOak is a backup/sharing software similar to Dropbox).

I'm using IPv4 with the following settings:
Fixed IP of 192.168.200.192
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.200.100

DNS1: 192.168.200.144 (our SBS2003 server's IP)
DNS2: 208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS)

After I have used the computer for a day or two, IE and FF stop being able to browse, period. This is both on a home network, as well as when using Wi-Fi networks out of the house. Haven't used the laptop in the office so far. I have trace routed site names (not IP addresses, thus DNS resolves), which I am able to do successfully. SpiderOak is not running, but possibly any modifications to the OS/networking might have changed things. However, this could also not be a result of SpiderOak, but rather Windows Updates as well.

Other computers on the network (home) are able to browse the internet. I am only able to browse the net and get e-mail (Outlook) when I log into a VPN connection, and then it works fine. I have tried putting in DNS1 as the gateway IP, like all the other machines have, but the laptop cannot browse or get e-mail access - no idea why. I have tried disabling the LAN connection in Windows 7 and then restarting it, but this has no effect. No recent updates of LAN connection/drivers have been installed either.

I had a power loss while running on battery (it still showed power left, but suddenly shut down anyway) and when I restart, it reports that the Windows is not activated and Window is not genuine and system might be a victim of "counterfeiting."

Is this a virus (I have MSE on continuously and about once a week scan with Malwarebytes)? I have run 'sfc /scannow' with filtered output ('findstr /c: "[SR]" c:.....logsCBSCBS.log" and it appears as usual.

How can I lose my Windows activation?

Windows 7 XP Wirelss Connection Not Working?

I have a 3 PC network (no WEP or WPA security) attached to a Thomson 760W wireless router with the latest Firmware (6.3.27.2)2 PCs (Angua and Carrot - dont ask!!) run XP SP3 (all latest updates); 1 PC runs Windows 7 Ultimate (all latest updates)There are no active firewalls,When all PCs have a wired ethernet connection to the network, everything (shares etc) works fine,When the W7 PC is connected to the network wirelessly ,W7 can access the shares on Carrot, cannot access the shares on Angua (). I suspect it cannot even see Angua and the reference is there from an earlier wired connection, cannot access a network drive that points to a share on Angua,Angua can access the shares on W7,A 4th PC running XP SP3 (not a normal part of the network) connected wirelessly can access Angua and can be accessed by Angua and the W7.W7 can ping Angua and the 4th PC (time=1ms)And Angua can ping the W7,I have the same items showing under the Wireless network Connection properties on both Angua and Carrot. They are Client for MS Networks File and Printer sharing QoS packet scheduler TCP/IP Under Network Connction details everything seems to be OK. Wirelss Network Virtual Profile?

I set up my wireless connection to my home's wireless network, but when I first connect to the internet, it connects to a virtual profile instead of my wireless network. I've tried setting my wireless network as the default network, but after I shut down and restart, it just goes directly to the Virtual Profile. I've even tried deleting the VP, but the computer finds it and goes straight to it as soon as the computer starts up again. Is there any way to permanently disable the virtual profile?

Sometimes Pc Cannot Find Perfectly Working Wirelss

Aug 27, 2011

O.s. win 7 ultimate 7100 32-bit.I have a wireless connection set up at home that works perfectly, however sometimes my win 7 netbook cannot find the wireless network anymore.this is annoying since i didn't install new drivers, didn't change a thing and besides, my android phone and another xp computer connect without problems.i tried to restart the windows wireless auto-configuration service as well, turn on/off the wireless or remove the saved wireless network.of course in the router properties, i enabled broadcast of network ID and it's not hidden.the only things that work are either:

1) rebooting the router, after that finds network OK
2) restarting only the WLAN connection, after that finds network OK
3) removing the battery sometimes fixes the problem without 1 or 2
4) shutting down and leaving the pc to rest 5 minutes sometimes fixes the problem without 1 or 2

this is very odd, i upgraded wireless drivers to the latest. i have an Asus n10J 1.6ghz overclocked to 2.1ghz and network card is Atheros 928X.oh and by the way in the network properties i enabled "connect even if network is not broadcasting its name SSID" // which clearly is not working even if the router wouldn't broadcast it for good.i start to think that it's a bug in the network card hardware or driver.

Connectivity Lost After Windows Update?

Jan 22, 2013

I recently did a fresh install on my gf's computer as it was suddenly unable to establish an online connection. The error showed in the connection status as the small yellow warning icon at the top left of the connection status icon, not the big red X that appears when the machine isn't connected at all.

Here are the specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev.1
CPU: Intel i7 950
RAM: 12GB Corsair Dominator GT 2000mhz
The system is also not overclocked.

After trying many things (reinstalling network drivers, flushing DNS, trying a different ethernet cable, restoring all network settings to default) I gave up and did a fresh installation.

After installation, I installed all the usual official drivers, then performed a Windows update, but only the important updates. The connection was back! I then decided to install some optional stability updates, and after reboot, the network problem was back.

I did a system restore to before I installed the optional updates, but the problem persists. I have no idea which optional update is causing this, or which one to remove first to avoid creating more errors.

Windows 7 Intermittent Internet Loss?

May 3, 2011

Verizon Fios, Actiontec Router. Windows XP machines (wired) (2) never any internet loss whatsoever. Running the wireless from the Actiontec and also a Linksys that is on one of the ports. (distance issues) The Linksys always syncs up and both wireless systems work 100% all the time with either XP or Win 7 laptops.

Here's the issue: two wired desktops running Win 7 have intermittent internet drops. One is older, one brand new fresh out of the box. Turned off the power saver NIC card function on both, WOL disabled. That's not the problem because the internet losses occur sometimes after the machine is on for a few minutes, the PC does not sit long enough to go into power saver anyway. There's no rhyme or reason as they say when the loss will occur. Sometimes this will not happen for a day or more, other times it can happen after using the machine for just a few minutes. One thing I have been trying is to disable IPV6 then I can get the internet back, othertimes re-enable it to get the net back. Go figure. Again, disabling it will not fix the problem, however switching it on/off will. Disabling and re-enabling the NIC will only fix it sometimes, most instances that does nothing. There are different types of NIC cards in the machines, one uses a Realtec on board, the other uses Nvidea on board and a plug in NIC (brand?) all NIC cards/board performs the same. Also, when they DO work, if I let them boot for a while, usually they will be fine, but that's looking at a 10-15 minute boot up. (doesn't take an excessive time for actual boot-up but I mean just leave it alone for 10-15 min) The Actiontec has the most current update version, and is about two years old. Somehow these machines lose the internet portion but not the network portion. Such an annoying problem, even more so when I added a brand new machine and get the same issues. I would be willing to bet that if I ran them wireless there would be no issue, but that's going to slow down the dl/ul speeds that I get with a wired connection.

Loss Of Hibernation Functionality On Windows 7 Professional

Apr 5, 2011

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 307-SA laptop which is running Windows 7 Profession (32 bit) I recently tried to put it into hibernation but found that my laptop will no longer do so.

Hibernation had been working fine up until I upgraded my hard drive from a 160 GB 5400 RPM WD Elements Scorpio Blue to a 500 GB 7200 RPM WD Elements Scorpio Black hard drive. Ever since then I can't put my laptop into hibernation.

The menu option for Hibernation is displayed so it is enabled, however when I attempt to hibernate the laptop the screen goes blank (As if it was going to hibernate) but then after a few short seconds the screen flashes and then the login screen appears again prompting me to login into my user as if I had just booted up the machine

The only possible cause that I can think of is that I did a full system image of my old hard drive and used my Windows 7 disc to restore the image onto the new hard drive. Rather than re-installing my whole OS from scratch, so maybe the hibernation file/settings got bodged.

Power Loss, And Windows Tools For Analyzing Possible Damage?

Jul 15, 2010

Today some maintenance personnel were working on my bathroom in my apartment. I stepped out to take care of some errands while they worked. I put my computer into sleep mode (NOT hibernation - Actually sleep mode). When I got home, I realized that all of the clocks were flashing "12:00" and my computer was powered off. When I talked to the maintenance crew, they said that they had encountered a problem in the bathroom and caused a short. This, in turn, tripped the breaker that my computer room was on, which they then reset. This means that my computer, at minimum, experienced a hard power loss while running. It may or may not have experienced a surge (!), though it is on a surge protector. And the surge protector did not have its safety lights lit to indicate a surge.

Unfortunately, since using the computer I'm noticing a lot of oddities. I played some TF2 to unwind, and for the first time ever it crashed. My Video Card got stuck in "uplocked/3D" mode. Web browsing was slower than I'm used to, and overall it seemed like the computer picked up a lot of 'chugging' where it hadn't before. Is there some method to diagnose the general health and well being of my computer in windows? Are there tools beyond CHKDSK that I can run to locate problems that may have occurred as a result of a power surge? I'm concerned that the power loss damaged my components significantly, and I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem or determine if it's all in my head.

Here are my specs, if that's important:

Windows 7 Pro x64
i7 core 920 CPU
eVGA x58 mobo
eVGA GTX 275 Video Card (197.13 drivers)
Corsair 850 W PSU

Clean Windows 7 Install To Ssd: Avoiding 100mb Loss

Dec 24, 2011

finally getting around to my first win 7 install on my new 120 gb mushkin chronos deluxe.I am using tweakhounds win 7 install guide found here: TweakHound - Installing Windows 7 particullary, I am trying to avoid the 100 mb loss:

Quote: Code: *Avoiding the 200MB partition: Folks have discovered that on an unpartitioned drive Windows 7 will create a 200MB system partition. This is easily avoided by creating a partition before attempting to install Windows 7 (see above). (for some this partition will be 100MB)**Exception for SSD drives to avoid the 200MB partition and partition / format the drive.Partitioning is a little different for SSD (Solid State Drives). This is because of something called NTFS partition alignment. Basically this refers to where on the drive the partition starts. Vista and 7 will create a single partition optimally for SSD's. XP and most program boot disks will not. If possible you should partition the disk under an already installed Windows 7 or Windows Vista machine and then proceed with the usual installation steps. If not then this is the way to do it:

Windows 7 Installation Advanced Drive Formatting

1 - Boot up from the Windows 7 installation disc.

2 - Choose Repair your computer.

3 - In the System Recovery Options screen, choose Use recovery tools... and click Next.

4 - Open the Command Prompt.

5 - Type diskpart and hit Enter.

6 - Type list disk . Find the disk you wish to install Windows 7 on. If you only have one disk then it will show as disk 0. If you have multiple disks find the drive you wish to install 7 on.

7 - Type select disk 0 (or use the number of the disk you wish to install Windows 7 on)(note - that is a zero)

8 - Type list partition. There shouldn't be any.

9 - Type create partition primary.

10- Type select partition 1.

11- Type active.

12- Type format quick.

13- When finished reboot and begin your installation.

( DiskPart Command-Line Options ) After reboot, the ssd shows as having 100 mb used and is listed as a system drive.

Limited Internet Connectivity - Connection Unsuccessful (windows 7 Laptop)

Apr 6, 2011

I'm trying to fix my sisters laptop, which just wont connect to the Internet. I've checked everything I can find. Here's a description of the problem - When looking at the icon in the system tray that shows the connection bars, when I hover over it, it says "not connected - connections are available" . On the related pop-up window It does show my wireless connection. When trying to connect to that wireless network, it eventually says "the connection was unsuccessful - this computer has limited connectivity to "bthomehub.....".

At this point it gives an option to troubleshoot, when I select this it says - "problems found - there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter". If I look at the troubleshooting report from this window it says "windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter". In 'network and sharing centre' it shows the computer being connected to the homehub, but no connection from homehub to the Internet. Attempted to ping ebay, got this response - "ping request could not find host ebay.com please check then name and try again."

Under wireless connection status it says -
"ipv4 connectivity - no Internet access"
"ipv6 connectivity - no network access"

From looking around on the internet I have tried the following -
- netsh winsock reset catalog
- netsh int ip reset reset.log
- reinstalled drivers for wireless network connection adapter
- checked that windows has no restore points
- tried ipconfig /release at command prompt, got the error "the operation failed as no adapter is in the - - state permissible for this operation"
- tried ipconfig /renew at command prompt, got the error "the operation failed as no adapter is in the - state permissible for this operation"

I tried removing various antivirus/system protection apps...at this point I then got a yellow icon over the connection bars in the system tray, and it now says im 'connected'. but it says 'no internet access'. Its a new laptop running windows 7, it did work fine for a while and then suddenly stopped working while connected to the internet.
