View 1 RepliesThe wireless adapter does NOT appear in ipconfig! but Ethernet does.Ethernet works properly.Unable to rollback/system restore as all deleted (don't know how or why). There is no wireless connectivity and with a USB wireless adapter the same problem. Hardware installs and says working OK, but unable to connect to wireless also.

This has been an issue since I upgraded to 7201. It isn't constant, and seems to be worse when I'm downloading large files, especially multiple files from one source (like an album in iTunes). It is fixed by release/renew (or just letting Diagnostics do that).
If I'm not using a lot of data (regular web browsing, working on a database online, etc), it seems perfectly fine. It is holding so far downloading one track at a time on iTunes, but if I do 2, it drops the connection.
I'm using the Home network config, router is working normally, and I can't recall this happening before 7201. I've reset the router, upgraded firmware, and it only happens on this PC. I've set WINS, tried all settings for TCP/IP 4 and 6, and using the other ethernet port on my motherboard.
More of an annoyance, really, but I can't figure it out and it is bugging the hell out of me.
EDIT: I can still get 1 mb/s on a single download, but trying 2, I get 600/400 for about 10-15 seconds until it disconnects.
I recently downloaded updates from MS and since rebooting I have lost all wireless connectivity. When I ran ipconfig /all in a command window it shows ethernet connection but not wireless. In network it shows wireless card is connected but there is no TCP/IPv4 or 6 connectivity. I am using Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter. I have updated to the latest drivers for the adapter but NO success!Diagnostic message is about windows not being able to bind to TCP stack etc.Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bitProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10Processor Count: 2RAM: 4090 MbGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce G 105M, 512 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 464838 MB, Free - 82861 MB; E: Total - 381554 MB, Free - 171085 MB; F: Total - 2861578 MB, Free - 510054 MB; G: Total - 476939 MB, Free - 64575 MB;Motherboard: Packard Bell, SJM50MVAntivirus: BullGuard Antivirus, Updated and Enabled

Same problem continued. Took the PC back to Best But & swapped it for a new one...& it's been fine 'till this evening. It denied me access once.I rebooted; & got it back. Obviously, something is amis w/ Win 7 Pro in the way the network connection is set up.can't be two modems or two computers.I noticed it seems to happen right around the time that the OS goes looking for windows updates not in the same category.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago I lost internet connectivity suddenly on my desktop (Dell XPS 630i, onboard Nvidia network controller, running windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) and have been unable to restore it. As my laptop (winXP sp3) can still connect to the internet and the router settings have not been changed (Dlink DGL4500), I'm making the assuption that my networking problem resides on my desktop alone. the network adapter gives me a 'limited connectivity' symbol and refuses to connect to my network, even though the router acknowledges the desktop's wired connection. The troubleshooting diagnostic sometimes finds nothing, sometimes finds that the computer is not obtaining a proper IP, and sometimes claims the problem is the router. I've also disabled windows firewall. Throughout this whole process I have been getting a 'Drive Power State Failure' BSOD during restarts (about once every four or five restarts, not consistently).
At first I was unable to replace the drivers or uninstall the adapter through device manager. After reinstalling the drivers using the Nforce 650SLI drivers on their website, I was able to do this, but this did not solve the problem. I also did a windows restore to before the problem occured, also with no luck. I've been through the event log and there are numerous code 5007 errors, which just tell me that the adapter timed out during an operation. I've also read through some forums online and tried several solutions including adding a DhcpConnBcastFlagToggle line into the registry: SOLVED: Network Icon Exclamation: No Internet
I have a Toshiba M750 TabletPC running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Never had a problem until a few days ago, possibly until I installed SpiderOak's latest version, 9810. (SpiderOak is a backup/sharing software similar to Dropbox).
I'm using IPv4 with the following settings:
Fixed IP of 192.168.200.192
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.200.100
DNS1: 192.168.200.144 (our SBS2003 server's IP)
DNS2: 208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS)
After I have used the computer for a day or two, IE and FF stop being able to browse, period. This is both on a home network, as well as when using Wi-Fi networks out of the house. Haven't used the laptop in the office so far. I have trace routed site names (not IP addresses, thus DNS resolves), which I am able to do successfully. SpiderOak is not running, but possibly any modifications to the OS/networking might have changed things. However, this could also not be a result of SpiderOak, but rather Windows Updates as well.
Other computers on the network (home) are able to browse the internet. I am only able to browse the net and get e-mail (Outlook) when I log into a VPN connection, and then it works fine. I have tried putting in DNS1 as the gateway IP, like all the other machines have, but the laptop cannot browse or get e-mail access - no idea why. I have tried disabling the LAN connection in Windows 7 and then restarting it, but this has no effect. No recent updates of LAN connection/drivers have been installed either.

I just recently ran in to an extremely frustrating problem with my laptop. I have an asus laptop, it's one of the gaming models. Just recently, it has shown that wireless connectivity is turned off whenever i boot up my computer. The thing is, though, that the manual switch to enable wireless connectivity is switched on. Whenever i attempt to switch it off, then back on, the graphic that pops up on your screen showing that wireless connectivity is disabled pops up even when i switch it on. It does the same exact thing when i use fn + f2, only the graphic saying that it's disabled pops up every time i press it, and wireless connectivity stays disabled no matter what. I have absolutely no idea what to do, this literally just happened out of no where when i booted up my computer yesterday.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have new Acer Aspire 5739G laptop and fresh Windows 7 on it.
The wireless card is Intel WiFi Link 5100.
The problem is that wireless works only in short distance with access point - max distance is about 5 meters.
In that distance everything works fine.
But if I go farther or to another room it disconnects.
With other laptops all works fine even on very large distance.
I tried such things (nothing helped):
* uninstall, reinstall or update drivers
* install newest drivers from Acer site
* install newest drivers from Intel site
* tested with xp & vista drivers
* on network connection properties unchecked all things except tcp/ip v4 protocol (microsoft networking, sharing, link layer topology,QoS, TCP/IP v6 ..)
* disabled homegroup
* on adapter properties changed signal frequencies (1,6,11),
* on adapter properties changed standard type to work with: 802.11 b or g
* on adapter properties changed signal to MAX, don't use power saving
* disabled Internet security, firewall
* Changed access point signal broadcasting with no encryption or wpa
* it disconnects from another access point the same way (problem with system not wifi AP)
Maybe something forgot to say, but there was few hours of testing and can't fix it .
I'm having a problem getting my laptop connected to some wireless networks. I can connect to the wireless connections at work and home without issues, but I'm currently house sitting for my parents and unable to connect to theirs. Apparently I have 'Limited Connectivity' on an 'Unidentifed Network. DHCP works and is issuing an IP address (plus gateway and dns), but when I try to ping anything on the network I get 'destination host unreachable'. I've tried using a valid static IP and it's no different. I've tried using the Windows 7 troubleshooting tool and it's complaining that it can't connect to the gateway. I've reset and reconfigured the wireless router but that hasn't worked either. I can connect to this network fine with my phone and an old vista laptop.

I'm running 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate and the wireless device is an Engenius Senao LR Multi-Client Bridge. I have already reloaded my laptop - there is now no software installed other than Photoshop, Office and Inkscape. I have no software firewall and no anti-virus. I've tried changing the wireless mode to 802.11g, but that didn't work. Bonjour doesn't seem to be installed. I've cleared down all of the known networks as well.
I had a power loss while running on battery (it still showed power left, but suddenly shut down anyway) and when I restart, it reports that the Windows is not activated and Window is not genuine and system might be a victim of "counterfeiting."
Is this a virus (I have MSE on continuously and about once a week scan with Malwarebytes)? I have run 'sfc /scannow' with filtered output ('findstr /c: "[SR]" c:.....logsCBSCBS.log" and it appears as usual.
How can I lose my Windows activation?
I am having a problem connecting to the internet in a public library where all other laptop users are connecting successfully. The curious part of the connectivity issue (to me, anyway) is that according to my computer I AM connected to the network. I have provided some screen caps of the issue (links below), and tried to run the Intel ProSet Wireless Tools diagnostic to troubleshoot the problem of connectivity. The test run by my computer indicated that my Ping Test failed Response: Default Gateway, DHCP server No Response.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased my Asus X53SV-MH71 laptop. For the first week I was able to connect to internet/wifi at my school perfectly fine. But now it keeps coming up as "Limited Connectivity." I've read some solutions over the web but none have seem to solved my problem. At this moment I am currently connected through an ethernet cable. If anyone can help me that would be great. I will provide the "ipconfig /all" cmd below.

When I try to connect to my WiFi connection, it says "The computer currently has limited connectivity to X". I tried troubleshooting, and it said there was a problem with my network adapter. I went to Control Panel > Hardware & Sound> Device Manager. From there, I disabled and enabled all of my adapters, but my internet was still non-functional. The problem isn't my router, because my husband and kids are connected perfectly. Is there a way to solve this issue, or do I have to get an expert to EDIT: I saw on a thread that I should try uninstalling and re-installing an updated network adapter, but how am I supposed to do that without internet?

View 1 Replies View RelatedEverything on my computer was fine this morning when I left for week, but upon my return I noticed that my keyboard/mouse wasn't working. I restarted my computer and confirmed that my keyboard works in the bios and whatnot, but when I get to the windows login screen, I get no response from the keyboard or mouse.the mouse is a simple USB one, and I'm using a PS/2 keyboard, so I doubt it's some sort of sudden driver issue.I tried logging into safemode, and I get the same result, can't move my mouse or use my keyboard.Does anyone have any idea how to possibly fix this issue? I'm unable to restore from an earlier state either.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOk well i got a new Dell Studio 435 Tower in april or so i7 920, 6gb 1066 tri-channel, 1gb ATI 4870, 750GB WD Black Caviar... i was running x64 Vista Home Premium and it was smooth as butter... had a 5.9 WEI and was pretty happy with performance.
2 nights ago i saw that the Windows 7 RTM was available on MSDN so i snagged x64 Windows 7 Home Premium... upgraded in place fine but now its much slower than my x64 was!
It takes longer to both boot up and shut down, some programs freeze when opening or closing them... i re took the WEI and it went down to 5.5. For some reason all my other scores shot up to 7.5 except my Ram which fell to 5.5 and my HDD which fell to 5.9 ???
I started investigating and it now says that i have 6GB installed and 1.99GB usable. What? When i was using Vista it said nearly all of it was usable.
I went into my bios... updated it to the newest version along with the intel chipset... in bios it states that i have 2048 available out of 2048 installed??? I have combed my bios and don't see ANYTHING that will let me mess with ram period.
I did the whole start>run>msconfig>boot>max ram, but no matter what i do it always defaults back to 2048 when i reboot my machine and go back to it.
I have packet loss, and randomly connection loss (but otherwise i have very good pings!) under windows 7 with two different computer with realtek 8111B and 8111E onboard chips. But there is no packet loss under windows xp with the same computers.I tried old, new, and motherboard manufacturer's drivers, new windows 7 system without any antivirus software, disabled windows defender, in safe mode, but still the sameI have no router, just a modem directly plug into the pc.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know there are few Limited connectivity threads but ive checked them, non of them have the answer im looking for so ill just tell you the story.I accidentily downloaded a malware/adware program called Antimalware Doctor, i tried going into safe mode and using multiple programs to delete it (Malware bytes, Spybot - Search and Destroy & AVG command line scanner) they apprently deleted it , i loaded my comp back to normal mode and there it was back in there corner >
i managed to get rid of the program by bringing up task manager and removing the process called "sorttm700" (thats what the antimalware doctor program was called in the toolbar when i hovered over it) then going to my computer and searching for sorttm700, i deleted all the folders with sorttm700 in them and rebooted and no more annoying ads to buy fake software however i still have limited connectivity (it became limited while the malware was on my computer and before i took any action to resolve it)i am trying to use the same network as the computer i am using now ot send this message, i never get connection problems with my laptop using this connection i have tried reseting my router and modem as well as uninstalling the driver and reinstalling and now there is a red cross with no options to connect to an access point, my wifi on my laptop is on before you ask?
My grandfather called me yesterday and said the other day - his Dell Desktop automatically downloaded Sp1 and Sp2 and once it restarted - he could no longer connect to the internet. *Note - he is connected via a cable to the router* The computer shows he's connected to the router but it cannot connect to the internet.
He tried to use a "restore point" prior to the update, but they were all gone. There are 2 other computers connected to the internet and neither have any issues - one is connected via a cable and the other wireless.
I checked the settings on the router and modem and don't see any "stand-out" type issues. I'm not sure what else to do or check?
I recently did a fresh install on my gf's computer as it was suddenly unable to establish an online connection. The error showed in the connection status as the small yellow warning icon at the top left of the connection status icon, not the big red X that appears when the machine isn't connected at all.
Here are the specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev.1
CPU: Intel i7 950
RAM: 12GB Corsair Dominator GT 2000mhz
The system is also not overclocked.
After trying many things (reinstalling network drivers, flushing DNS, trying a different ethernet cable, restoring all network settings to default) I gave up and did a fresh installation.
After installation, I installed all the usual official drivers, then performed a Windows update, but only the important updates. The connection was back! I then decided to install some optional stability updates, and after reboot, the network problem was back.
I did a system restore to before I installed the optional updates, but the problem persists. I have no idea which optional update is causing this, or which one to remove first to avoid creating more errors.
I am having a sony LCD TV KLV-26S550A as well as a dell xps laptop with this config :
17.3" screen
windows 7 Ultimate
Nvidia GT435 Card with 1 GB ram
4 GB 1333 MHz RAM
When I am trying to connect the HDMI o/p of lappi to sony TV, TV says unsupported signal. When I connected same cord with desktop, the LCD runs fine:means HDMI cable is fine. Now when I connected my laptop to samsung LCD using same HDMI port & cable it run fine. So whats the problem in connecting dell laptop to sony only. As all other sets are working fine.
I bought the Acer Aspire Netbook.I cannot access the internet from my home network for some reason. It recognizes the network and it says i'm connected to it, but wont let me access the internet. When I browse the network connection it says "Limited Connectivity" and depending on the way I diagnose the problem, it either says that im missing a wireless adapter or most commonly, that my IP address is not valid.
My computer was also running the internet very, very slow when I've connected at the school. I had a friend play around with it, and he actually downgraded some of the settings (or something), and it runs a lot better. But it still doesnt solve my home connection.I've browsed many forums and tried a couple things, but im mostly scared to try the in-depth solutions (mostly because im not THAT computer savvy, and since I just bought the computer im scared to remove certain things just in case). These are the specs:
- 1GB Memory
- 250 GB Hardrive
- Windows 7 Starter
- Model #: AO522-BZ499
- AMD c-50 Processor
I'm normally very good with computers, however im mostly a mac user and havent had a pc of my own in a long time.
Night before power went out twice, there was no network issues, everything was recognized normally and I had connection with windows explorer. However now it doesn't allow any regular connectivity (by that I mean I can use a third party program jftp and it finds/opens the samba shares correctly, but that doesn't have integration in a way that I need.I have tried several registry fixes from several forums, as well as rebooting each system, and the entire network several times and there has been no resolution.Using 'net use \192.168.1.2' nets a result of 'The specified network name is no longer available' however it can still successfully ping (and SSH) to the box.Windows explorer spews out 0x80004005 error unspecified and has turned up nothing useful after a couple hours of googling. The server -does- show on the network places but when clicked it says the path is not valid.

I love everything about it except one major thing that seems to be a common problem, from the research I've done.Whenever the computer sleeps or goes in to standby mode, about 80% of the time when I come out of it, it loses the network connection. I will get one of two messages: "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP address" or "Local area conncetion doesn't have a valid IP configuration." (It's usually the first message).I've Googled this several times and I've tried the fixes. I've tried searching for Bonjour (according to my Services list, it's disabled). I've tried setting the IPv6 off in the TCP/IP settings. I've tried changing the Wireless Adapter Setting's Power Save Mode to Maximum Performance. None of this has prevented this issue from happening.
