I just turned on my pc today and the windows 7 basic areo theme came up insted of the top quality theme and when i opened ie9 i noiced the greyt theme was comming up on the windows, then another 30 seconds later the bottom bar when all grey, i went o controll panel and it has greyed out the areo theme (blanked it out so i can click on it) , i have been on some other sites and they are telling me to trouble shoot it witch i have, but windows can't find any problems at all.
I had a power loss while running on battery (it still showed power left, but suddenly shut down anyway) and when I restart, it reports that the Windows is not activated and Window is not genuine and system might be a victim of "counterfeiting."
Is this a virus (I have MSE on continuously and about once a week scan with Malwarebytes)? I have run 'sfc /scannow' with filtered output ('findstr /c: "[SR]" c:.....logsCBSCBS.log" and it appears as usual.
For the past few days, if not a week now, I've noticed that when I switch to Basic theme for RAM intesive programs like Adobe After Effects, Windows is quite slow, almost running as though my laptop is 1GB not 2GB RAM.Though when I switch to Aero theme, Windows is only slightly slower with Adobe After Effects running. My laptop is Compaq Presario CQ56, 2GB shared graphics and I can't explain why the Basic theme is running slow whereas Aero is responding faster, so much so, programs tend to stop responding more frequently on Basic. I have run MSE, MBAM and SAS (MSE realtime, others are standalone mode) and found no viruses and I update them all either daily or every two days. I only have Realtek Audio and MSE on Startup so I can't figure out why this happening!
how can i change my windows 7 blue theme to the previous black and grey theme which it had when i purchased my laptop... and cab i apply any other theme on windows 7 basic?
I was surfing net and listening to music , then the aero theme switches to basic theme out of nowhere. I tried to go to personalize and set it back , but could not.
I have packet loss, and randomly connection loss (but otherwise i have very good pings!) under windows 7 with two different computer with realtek 8111B and 8111E onboard chips. But there is no packet loss under windows xp with the same computers.I tried old, new, and motherboard manufacturer's drivers, new windows 7 system without any antivirus software, disabled windows defender, in safe mode, but still the sameI have no router, just a modem directly plug into the pc.
I have been researching the topic and am at a loss after around an hour of fruitless research. I recently upgraded from xp 32 bit to windows 7 32 bit. I want to upgrade to 64 bit so theres more RAM available and cannot find any information on doing it without discs that doesnt use USB or something. Got an external hard drive what the hell do I do? I downloaded the files but then couldn't open of course bc they were 64 bit files or whatnot.
I recently downloaded updates from MS and since rebooting I have lost all wireless connectivity. When I ran ipconfig /all in a command window it shows ethernet connection but not wireless. In network it shows wireless card is connected but there is no TCP/IPv4 or 6 connectivity. I am using Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter. I have updated to the latest drivers for the adapter but NO success!Diagnostic message is about windows not being able to bind to TCP stack etc.Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bitProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10Processor Count: 2RAM: 4090 MbGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce G 105M, 512 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 464838 MB, Free - 82861 MB; E: Total - 381554 MB, Free - 171085 MB; F: Total - 2861578 MB, Free - 510054 MB; G: Total - 476939 MB, Free - 64575 MB;Motherboard: Packard Bell, SJM50MVAntivirus: BullGuard Antivirus, Updated and Enabled
Verizon Fios, Actiontec Router. Windows XP machines (wired) (2) never any internet loss whatsoever. Running the wireless from the Actiontec and also a Linksys that is on one of the ports. (distance issues) The Linksys always syncs up and both wireless systems work 100% all the time with either XP or Win 7 laptops.
Here's the issue: two wired desktops running Win 7 have intermittent internet drops. One is older, one brand new fresh out of the box. Turned off the power saver NIC card function on both, WOL disabled. That's not the problem because the internet losses occur sometimes after the machine is on for a few minutes, the PC does not sit long enough to go into power saver anyway. There's no rhyme or reason as they say when the loss will occur. Sometimes this will not happen for a day or more, other times it can happen after using the machine for just a few minutes. One thing I have been trying is to disable IPV6 then I can get the internet back, othertimes re-enable it to get the net back. Go figure. Again, disabling it will not fix the problem, however switching it on/off will. Disabling and re-enabling the NIC will only fix it sometimes, most instances that does nothing. There are different types of NIC cards in the machines, one uses a Realtec on board, the other uses Nvidea on board and a plug in NIC (brand?) all NIC cards/board performs the same. Also, when they DO work, if I let them boot for a while, usually they will be fine, but that's looking at a 10-15 minute boot up. (doesn't take an excessive time for actual boot-up but I mean just leave it alone for 10-15 min) The Actiontec has the most current update version, and is about two years old. Somehow these machines lose the internet portion but not the network portion. Such an annoying problem, even more so when I added a brand new machine and get the same issues. I would be willing to bet that if I ran them wireless there would be no issue, but that's going to slow down the dl/ul speeds that I get with a wired connection.
my little brother changed my windows 7 to a classic theme ? i need the normal theme of the windows, when i go to the personlize to change the theme it is unhighlighted, how can i do that by run ?
This tutorial will show you how to change your Windows 7 theme such as the the desktop background, colors, and sounds on your computer all at once. You will also see how to save your custom theme.
can no longer change my windows 7 theme. It's in aero mode, but when i right click, and open personalization, it's in classic view mode. I try clicking "Window Color and Appearance" except it only gives me an error "there was a problem loading pre-set color." Also when i click "them" nothing happens, no sign of loading. I'm fine with the default windows 7 aero theme, except i'd love to install windowblinds 7 again (this will be my first time installing windowblinds 7 on this new installation of windows 7, so it's not a pre-installation of windowblinds 7 that causes my personalization options to go away.ps: i think this problem began when i installed deskscapes and dreamscene (2 programs that allow your background to be a video) I have uninstalled both of them.
So I have 8 themes on Windows 7 and I want the themes to rotate. I know you can make a theme where the pictures change, but I want to color of windows explorer to change with the pictures
Since a recent (3 days ago) update to Windows 7, which included an update to the network driver file 6/21/2006 6.1.7600.16385, I have lost the ability to view my home cctv on either LAN or WAN. I have tried system restore, but Windows just automatically updates again afterwards.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 307-SA laptop which is running Windows 7 Profession (32 bit) I recently tried to put it into hibernation but found that my laptop will no longer do so.
Hibernation had been working fine up until I upgraded my hard drive from a 160 GB 5400 RPM WD Elements Scorpio Blue to a 500 GB 7200 RPM WD Elements Scorpio Black hard drive. Ever since then I can't put my laptop into hibernation.
The menu option for Hibernation is displayed so it is enabled, however when I attempt to hibernate the laptop the screen goes blank (As if it was going to hibernate) but then after a few short seconds the screen flashes and then the login screen appears again prompting me to login into my user as if I had just booted up the machine
The only possible cause that I can think of is that I did a full system image of my old hard drive and used my Windows 7 disc to restore the image onto the new hard drive. Rather than re-installing my whole OS from scratch, so maybe the hibernation file/settings got bodged.
i downloaded a few themes from microsoft website, but when i try to install them by double clicking them,,it simly doesnt respond and the default progrma for .themempack file is "Windows Shell Common Dll" but i want to install these themepack so badly
sim theme park for windows 7 installer,DOS or anything just to play this
i play it in epsx emulator but it low quality ,why it can play it in XP in dos , why not in Windows 7 although Windows 7 is more advance in XP? is there any way to play it in Good quality and more cute in win 7^^
I recently reinstalled windows, and was wondering when I change the theme, why it doesnt stop being in Basic, The background is the only thing that changes when I change the theme..
I am having a nightmare with my windows 7 64 bit home edition. It is running extremely slowly. I have lost the internet connection and the windows firewall has turned off and cannot be turned back on. Whenever I boot up i get the message "failed to connect to a windows server" The event viewer log is also unavailable. I have established that my internet is working on other machines. I have also attempted to reset winsock in safe mood. However this has not worked.I've had the system for about 9 months with no major problems. I have McAfee and have run windows defender and adaware so I am pretty sure it's not malware.
My desktop pc crashed, and after some investigation it turns out that the main hard drive is probably dead... So I thought I would install Windows 7 onto my portable terabyte. Anyway when I tried to install Windows 7 onto my hard drive, I realised 2 things:
- Windows will clear my TB HD when it installs. and - Windows cannot install onto a USB device.
I need to install windows 7 on my portable hard drive without removing any data on it. I have tried to partition my hard drive with easyus as a friend recomended, but it says I need to convert it to a logical, and I cant do that because it says something about clearing the HD.
Today some maintenance personnel were working on my bathroom in my apartment. I stepped out to take care of some errands while they worked. I put my computer into sleep mode (NOT hibernation - Actually sleep mode). When I got home, I realized that all of the clocks were flashing "12:00" and my computer was powered off. When I talked to the maintenance crew, they said that they had encountered a problem in the bathroom and caused a short. This, in turn, tripped the breaker that my computer room was on, which they then reset. This means that my computer, at minimum, experienced a hard power loss while running. It may or may not have experienced a surge (!), though it is on a surge protector. And the surge protector did not have its safety lights lit to indicate a surge.
Unfortunately, since using the computer I'm noticing a lot of oddities. I played some TF2 to unwind, and for the first time ever it crashed. My Video Card got stuck in "uplocked/3D" mode. Web browsing was slower than I'm used to, and overall it seemed like the computer picked up a lot of 'chugging' where it hadn't before. Is there some method to diagnose the general health and well being of my computer in windows? Are there tools beyond CHKDSK that I can run to locate problems that may have occurred as a result of a power surge? I'm concerned that the power loss damaged my components significantly, and I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem or determine if it's all in my head.
Here are my specs, if that's important:
Windows 7 Pro x64 i7 core 920 CPU eVGA x58 mobo eVGA GTX 275 Video Card (197.13 drivers) Corsair 850 W PSU 6 GB RAM
finally getting around to my first win 7 install on my new 120 gb mushkin chronos deluxe.I am using tweakhounds win 7 install guide found here: TweakHound - Installing Windows 7 particullary, I am trying to avoid the 100 mb loss:
Quote: Code: *Avoiding the 200MB partition: Folks have discovered that on an unpartitioned drive Windows 7 will create a 200MB system partition. This is easily avoided by creating a partition before attempting to install Windows 7 (see above). (for some this partition will be 100MB)**Exception for SSD drives to avoid the 200MB partition and partition / format the drive.Partitioning is a little different for SSD (Solid State Drives). This is because of something called NTFS partition alignment. Basically this refers to where on the drive the partition starts. Vista and 7 will create a single partition optimally for SSD's. XP and most program boot disks will not. If possible you should partition the disk under an already installed Windows 7 or Windows Vista machine and then proceed with the usual installation steps. If not then this is the way to do it:
Windows 7 Installation Advanced Drive Formatting
1 - Boot up from the Windows 7 installation disc.
2 - Choose Repair your computer.
3 - In the System Recovery Options screen, choose Use recovery tools... and click Next.
4 - Open the Command Prompt.
5 - Type diskpart and hit Enter.
6 - Type list disk . Find the disk you wish to install Windows 7 on. If you only have one disk then it will show as disk 0. If you have multiple disks find the drive you wish to install 7 on.
7 - Type select disk 0 (or use the number of the disk you wish to install Windows 7 on)(note - that is a zero)
8 - Type list partition. There shouldn't be any.
9 - Type create partition primary.
10- Type select partition 1.
11- Type active.
12- Type format quick.
13- When finished reboot and begin your installation.
( DiskPart Command-Line Options ) After reboot, the ssd shows as having 100 mb used and is listed as a system drive.
The wireless adapter does NOT appear in ipconfig! but Ethernet does.Ethernet works properly.Unable to rollback/system restore as all deleted (don't know how or why). There is no wireless connectivity and with a USB wireless adapter the same problem. Hardware installs and says working OK, but unable to connect to wireless also.
Ipconfig is:
Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Jabberwocky Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
My computer was turned off during the update process and I am getting the blue screen. After launching the start-up repair I am told the problem cannot be solved although there is a patch preventing the system from starting. My registry files precede the date the problem occurred, I have tried to restore but there is no restore point, I cannot start in safe mode. I have launched bootrec.exe and ran FixMbrFixBoot and also RebuildBcd and none have worked. I know I will probably have to go the long way around and pull the data from my disc and do a clean install but just wondered if any of you Techsperts had a quicker fix so I can spend the rest of my life in awe at your magnificence?
Anybody knows about Modern/Metro/Windows-8-style UI theme pack for Win7 but without "the new features that's only for touch" like StartScreen, Charm bar, etc, etc.
I have a slight software conflict that results in me choosing to use Windows 7 Basic Theme instead of Aero. However I've noticed that the taskbar thumbnail preview panes have disappeared now and I really like that facility so I can see which windows are open when I hover over the Firefox tab on the taskbar.
I am using win 7 64 bit I got tired of the Ie 9 with the blurry text and its many ways to try and fix it with no results. So i switched to firefox and it was solved right away. But now i discover another problem. Because i like to use windows classic theme with the grey menu bar. But when i use firefox browser and click on the bookmark menu, then it leaves a image or "print" of the bookmark window in my start menu.Look at the screenshot were you can see some remaining text of my bookmark window.I can remove it when i adjust my start menu but it comes back when i use the bookmarks again. This only happens in firefox but when i change the theme to win 7 or any other then it dosent happens. How do i fix this ?
Windows 7 Aero Theme Service keeps Stopping after a few seconds, i have already done :
Right click desk top>personalize>Trouble shoot problems with aero
It AlwaYS COMES up with the error Themes service isnt running :fixed
but after a few seconds it shuts off again.. It makes it to where i cannot see firefox close button, expand, minimize etc.. and completely makes the bottom task bar solid white and square with old buttons (like win 95) and various other windows including the volume button scroll etc..
I have completely reinstalled windows 7 ---does same thing.I have completely formatted the partition and reinstalled--does same thing
I have reinstalled all drivers from dells website--same thing I have downloaded and used Driver programs that find missing software such as easy driver pro--Does not work still I have gone into the manager-its set to automatic..Step 1 restart program, step two restart program..step 3 do nothing
