I have a HP DV7-1247CL x64 and use Windows 7 Home Premium. My ISP is Verizon FIOS Ultimate and my average speed up/down is about 35/35 with a wired connection.
Recently I have noticed that after signing in it takes about 2 1/2 min to get the Windows 7 loaded. I don't think this is average so what is the average load time.
[code] I am using a single Seagate 250gb HDD and a bog standard LG CD drive and have removed my networking and graphics card in an attempt to rectify the issue. My problem is in the first time windows7 Professional 64bit installation. The machine powers does immediately after the the 'Loading Windows' screen every time without fail.
on first install of windows 7 (and XP when I was using it) the comp ran fine booted in less than 30secs, but over the couple of weeks it just keeps getting slower and slower now it can take anywhere between 3-5min.
once it has booted to windows log on screen it takes all of a secound to load.
I built my and my brothers comps, there both using the same Mobo/CPU I have 4GB (he has 2GB) but his computer boots faster than mine.
no problems once the comp has started apart from certain settings wont save like where I leave my Icons on DT, and screens staying maximized.
would give boot log but cant remember how to get it...
I have problem with my windows 7. When i try to open a directory on LAN, every now and then it begins to reload the directory. The upper bar begins to fill up with green color (in my theme of course), and it takes very long time, like 3, or 4 minutes. In the directory there is not much stuff, maybe 200 or 300 text files. And during this 3 or 4 minutes, the computer is almost blocked.
It is very slow, the browser can not connect to any site on internet, any programs that are working stalls, or becomes very slow. When the directory is loaded, things return to normal. And what is more, this problem does not occur with every directory on the LAN, only with some of them. What can be the reason and how can I fix it?
Can't tell if Windows 7 or my RAM, certain programs have been loading REALLY slow. For example, Google chrome that took miliseconds to start up, now takes 10 seconds to actually open, and 2-3 minutes to load the page. Other programs i start up with Google chrome at the same time (because 8 GB ram should be able to handle this...) such as Steam, aim, etc also take a long time to start up. However, this only happens when i open them at the same time i open Google Chrome. Then all of a sudden, the finish loading all at the SAME TIME. Like, I would open Chrome, then Steam, then aim, and they would all be loading, and as soon as Google Chrome finishes its 2-3 minute loading, everything loads at the same time.
I use Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Firefox is filled with privacy tools including Privoxy, Ghostery and Disconnect. My other browsers do no have anything. I use Windows firewall, Avast Free and Full version of Malwarebytes with malicious web-site blocking turned off. I also use Spyware Blaster. I use Windows 7. I am behind Cisco router.
Problem: When I use facebook.com either https or http, after a certain period of times or page visits, the facebook stops loading and "hangs" on a page not going back or forward. I either have to wait, or close it and open another browser. This has been going on for quite some time. I tried clearing everything with CCleaner, flushed DNS, Etc. When I ping, I get all 4 responses.
A few months back, my laptop started getting stuck at the splash screen. The problem used to come and go but it annoyed me so I gave my laptop to lenovo customer care service. They advised me to restore my OS and I did the same but to no avail. The problem still persisted. Then I went again to a different lenovo customer service and they updated my BIOS and tweaked it. It worked good for about 12 hours or so.
i have loaded windows 7 ultimate in my sony vaio laptop. after rebooting its not booting Operating system... its just showing "--" at top left corner in the boot process.
I was browsing the web and my laptop froze. I held the powe button to turn it off and now when i turn it on, it only goes to the windows logo and no farther. If i leave it alone, after 20 minutes it goes to a black screen with a cursor. I have tried starting in safemode as well and it only loads some of the files before freezing. I have also tried startup repair. After a few minutes it gives a few options such as system restore. I tried a restore and it still doesn't load.
I bought a hp laptop about a year ago and have been having a problem for the last couple days. I have windows 7 and when I go to start the laptop up it shows the HP screen then goes to the windows screen like its loading but then goes back to the hp logo and is stuck. I ran a HDD test and memory test those came back good. I tried to go into safe mode it acts like it loading then shows a blank screen. I try to do a system recovery and system restore the screen stays blank. I also took the battery out and press the power button down but that hasn't work. It's no longer under warrenty.
My son's laptop is really slow loading Windows. If I go into Safe Mode, it comes up really quickly and the internet works - all normal. But in the regular Windows, it takes forever and the internet does not connect (it might if I left it long enough but I haven't had the patience). I did an AntiMalware scan which showed nothing and am currently running an Antivirus - both in Safe Mode. I was going to do a System Restore but only one is showing on the system and I wasn't sure where to go with it.
It's a dell insprinon 1510...my wife's and was doing a download...BIO's when it shut itself off and now won't even come back on when I press the power button. I called Dell and they say...since my warranty expired 4 days earlier it was of couse, not covered and am wondering if it's the motherboard or something else?
I have a windows 7 hp laptop model dv6000 and I want to check all my hardware components through the BIOS. I know that the key is f2, but whats the best time to hit this key..........
I'm trying to fix a vaio laptop at the moment and am a bit stuck. The screen doesn't go past the vaio. It just before the windows logo would normally appear. I tried using the windows 7 cd to try a repair or cmd/chkdsk etc, but the OS wasn't found/listed. I also tried to do a clean install and the HD wasn't detected by windows 7 setup. I also tried booting up with ubuntu and the HD still wasn't detected. Can I assume this is a busted HD? Should I still shoot for a bootage diagnostic cd for the hard drive?
i recently purchased a new toshiba laptop with windows 7 64bit installed, which worked pretty well until i ran into a random crash a few days ago. i'm not sure why it happened, but at the time, i was running a Internet video and then i got a post on google talk. at that point, the computer froze on the sound and i wasn't able to use the mouse anymore. it acted like a stop error, even though no blue screen popped up or anything. it seems like it freezes like this when i leave the computer on for a long period of time or something. it's happened around three times, once with the google talk sound, and twice with the skype sound, and all three times Internet was opened.
anyway, ever since that initial crash, i've had a hard time starting up the computer. the first time, i attempted to run the task manager and click the "show processes from all users" button, however after clicking the button, the computer seems to hang at loading consent.exe, and the cpu was around 4% or so. i was also trying to load google chrome, but it wouldn't load either. after waiting about 5 minutes, i pressed ctrl-alt-delete, which then i got an error that the window couldn't load.the second time i tried running the task manager, i noticed that the networking and sharing center wouldn't work at all. i could run programs (that weren't internet browsers), as well as the control panel... but i couldn't open the networking and sharing window from either the control panel or the icon on the taskbar. consent.exe was hanging in this instance as well.
after those two times, i was able to get the computer working again and didn't have too many problems as long as the computer was on. ran into the problem again after successfully shutting down windows one night, then trying to turn it back on the next day. however, this was even more odd because explorer.exe crashed on its own, but i hadn't done anything since i turned the computer on. i also couldn't get the task manager open for some reason.today, after leaving the computer off since last night, i tried turning on the computer again, and once again the computer hanged on trying to load google chrome and the task manager. this time, the task manager wouldn't load, but the icon would appear in the taskbar (frozen. can't right click it or anything.) and skype was working. i made a comment on google talk, but that froze after i got a response.i was able to hit the shut down button in that instance, but after waiting 8 minutes, the windows logoff screen wouldn't show up, so i just shut it down and turned it on again.
in the past i had a seperate personal hd for my work laptop I would take my work HD out then install my personal drive in and it worked great. But now on new laptop there is a biosandhard drive can I still switch hard drives or will it not work or will my work know I swap. Them.
During a recent windows update my pc froze, (mid-update) and I restarted my machine. Now windows gets stuck at the black" Loading operating system..."screen. After a long wait it will eventually display boot from cd/. When I boot from my windows dvd my os is not shown in system recovery. I Have also tried running start up repair from recovery with no luck.
My laptop will not time out and go into my screensaver. I have read several answers on help forums and nothing is working. I have an HP notebook with Windows 7 and am currently using Google chrome (if that matters).
I am trying to figure out how to get a fullscreen on my laptop all the time... i do not want to see my desktop screen at the top and bottom of the page when i am in the internet.
My problem is that any time I close my laptop's lid, or sometimes when I put try to suspend it, the computer crashes. It initially stays on, and the leds are blinking, than they stop blinking, and it turns completly off. When I turn it on again it tells me that blue screen was the problem.
I'm worried since I bought it last year, it's a Toshiba Satellite M645, Intel Core I5 M480, 4Gb ram, Windows 7 64 bits.
I'm trying to bypass a time restriction that has been set on a laptop, there are 3 user icons that have passwords I have no knowledge of, how can I bypass all this to get online and running, its a dell ispirion laptop?
