Dec 14, 2009i have windows 7 ultimate, and when i try to switch a video (hulu, Internet or any video online) to full screen it doesnt work. it seems to try to open full screen but doesnt show it. everything stops and i cant click on anything like it would if i had full screen open, i even get the sound, but no video. i have to press esc then everything is normal. this only happens when i switch my theme to window7 basic or windows classic. full screen works fine when im using windows 7 aero themes.

Game Fullscreen Problem
Sep 3, 2009I Have Windows 7, and to play games in fullscreen have to set to maximum resolution, but my laptop does not have requirements for it, i need to put at least 1024x768 to run the game i play, nice. Because if i set to 1024, it apears black bars in both sides, and i dont like to play like that, so any help is apreciated.

Fullscreen Games Not Initializing
Dec 11, 2009I have recently upgraded from Vista 64-bit to 7 64-bit. Before the upgrade I had installed and played many games (Battlefield 2 & 2142, FATE, Assassin's Creed, etc.) in full-screen mode with no problems.
Something seems to have happened after the upgrade however as now I am not able to launch some games and have had many difficulties with the others. I have updated the driver specific to my graphics card as well as the Catalyst ones and have checked all the other drivers for updates only to be told they were the most current.
On a related note, my Assassin's Creed is a digital download from EB Games. When I try launching it through DirectX 9 it asks me to insert the CD, and if I try to launch it by any other of the options, the CPU runs for about 5 seconds and then nothing happens.
I say nothing happens, but that's not true. A Windows Error Report is created roughly named AppCrash Assassin's Creed for each time I try to launch it.
As for the other games, FATE creates a process that runs in Task Manager, but nothing shows up on the screen, and occasionally Battlefield 2 does the same.
Is there something that I am missing? I am close to going back and doing a clean install of Windows 7 (instead of having the upgraded version) but would REALLY rather not have to re-install all the programs.

Nov 12, 2011I am having a problem with my laptop that started a bit over a week ago. The CPU usage is very high, most of the time. I have tried a variety of things from updates to Windows and drivers, to security scans from various programs, yet the problem remains.
Basic info:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, 32 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6570 @ 2.10GHz, x64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10
Processor Count: 2
RAM: 1912 Mb
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, 828 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 230364 MB, Free - 114501 MB;
Motherboard: TOSHIBA, NBWAA
Antivirus: None
I uninstalled MSE earlier to see if that was the cause, but it was not, hence no antivirus protection. Additionally, I installed Process Explorer to have a better idea of the cause. A large part that takes up much of the CPU is the svchost.exe-taskeng.exe-NDSTray.exe-CFSwMgr.exe process. I can easily post a HiJack this log or screen caps of Task Manager or Process Explorer.
Laptop Battery Messed Up Date / Time
Dec 4, 2009Okay, so it's been over a year, and my 6cell battery is beginning to die out. I ordered a replacement battery from eBay rather than Dell. I'm a college student, and paying $50 sounded better than paying $200. Anyways, I bought a 9cell battery for my XPS. So here's what happens when I plug in the new battery:
AC Charger with NO battery: Computer runs perfectly fine
AC Charger with battery: Computer runs perfectly fine
Battery with NO AC charger: Problems...
When I plugged in just the battery alone, I went into BIOS and saw that the system's date and time were screwed up; it was showing some weird date in the year 1901. With this new battery, sometimes the hard drive wouldn't load. For example, when I turn my computer on, I can hear the hard drive spinning, but after a couple of seconds, the whole system just...freezes.
I initially thought it was a problem with my hard drive, since a screen kept coming up saying that some of the Windows files were corrupt. I did a clean install of Windows 7, and even tried Vista, but still nothing. With Vista, the date and time would still mess up, and sometimes nothing would load. I even tried system restoring after booting from the CD drive, but I received an error message that I had no shadow copies to restore from. I tried starting up with another hard drive, but still had the same issues.
Right now I'm using my old battery, and I get the message "Consider Replacing Your Battery." Can anyone help shed some light on this issue? Does the problem seem to be with the new battery?

Laptop Cannot Browse For More Than A Couple Of Minutes At A Time
Feb 23, 2011I have come over to the UK to visit family and my work laptop cannot browse for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Chat clients all work without issue, Dropbox doesn't have a problem. The Cisco VPN client connects happily when it needs to. Just the browsers stop being able to resolve IP addresses.I am connected to wireless correctly, I get an IP (192.168.0.6) from the router (192.168.0.1). DHCP provides the DNS without issue. I can ping the router and the ISP DNS servers...but still no joy.I managed to get some joy when running ipconfig /flushdns everytime it stopped. But this is inconsistent.Firefox, IE and Chrome all work for a couple of minutes after a reboot and then just stop being able to browse. As I said, when it stops, I can still ping everything listed above comfortably..but no host names resolve.My Android phone connects seemlessly and doesn't drop out. I am typing from my parents laptop at the moment..no issues, my brothers laptop, no problems.
Every device seems to work without issue except my work laptop, which I use wirelessly at home, in hotels, starbucks...you name it, I can use it no problem.I have removed the connection and re-added.I have connected via standard WPA2 key and last night tried via WPS. Each time, the laptop connects without issue, all of my messengers connect...2 minutes into browsing the web...DNS stops resolving. I even added Google DNS servers and set a manual IP...same issue each time.I found the Winsock Fix for Windows 7, applied it and restarted. So far so good...obviously, I will come back if it fails again
Laptop Restarts 50% Of Time When Power Cord Comes Out
Feb 25, 2012I have had this issue for a while with my Dell Studio XPS 1645 laptop. It is a guess, but i'd say 5/10 times the power cord comes out of the laptop (for whatever reason - moving it etc) then the laptop will simply black screen and instantly restart and boot up again without an error message or any information as to why. This doesn't make any sense to me because every time I do have the battery pack inserted into the laptop and over 30% battery life (this is when ill plug the charger in).
