I Have Windows 7, and to play games in fullscreen have to set to maximum resolution, but my laptop does not have requirements for it, i need to put at least 1024x768 to run the game i play, nice. Because if i set to 1024, it apears black bars in both sides, and i dont like to play like that, so any help is apreciated.
Since yesterday i have a nice new Sony TV, which i connected to my laptop by HDMI. Every time i want to play a game (for example Fifa), the game starts on my laptop and not on my TV. I can only play it on my TV if i clone my laptop and tv. Isn't there an option "start on TV" or something in Windows 7?
i have just recently installed Fable: The Lost Chapter's and i can not run it at full screen on my widescreen monitor, it runs at 4.3 with the horrible black bars at the left and right side of the screen.
Can someone please help me run it at 16.9 full screen.
Is there a possible way to switch Windows users while a game is maximized? I feel like I used to have a windows system that had a button on the keyboard that I would accidentally press from time to time, and it would send me directly to my windows users list while keeping my full-screen game active. I'm looking for that same functionality here.
i have windows 7 ultimate, and when i try to switch a video (hulu, Internet or any video online) to full screen it doesnt work. it seems to try to open full screen but doesnt show it. everything stops and i cant click on anything like it would if i had full screen open, i even get the sound, but no video. i have to press esc then everything is normal. this only happens when i switch my theme to window7 basic or windows classic. full screen works fine when im using windows 7 aero themes.
I am using windows 7.I cannot play pes 2009 fullscreen. It looks fullscreen but its not. There are some black spaces up and down. It looks like movie screen. Is pes 2009 not compatible with win 7? How can I solve this problem?
I've encountered this problem with games such as NHL09 and Shogun2. Problem is that when fullscreen launches the other monitor goes freezeframe or goes completely out, thus I cannot see the movie or sportsstream anymore on the secondary monitor, sound remains...
I need a global resolve so that when ever I choose to go fullscreen (such as gaming) the movie or stream or what ever is on the fullscreen in secondary monitor remains viewable and enjoyable by whom ever...
i cant fullscreen in games in windows 7 all the games when i put resolution to 1024x780 it stop being fullscreen then goes in center with black things in left and right plz help me i already searched but didnt got a solution that work i dont have the option of scaling thing in my nvidia drivers option so what i do now plz help me.

I have recently upgraded from Vista 64-bit to 7 64-bit. Before the upgrade I had installed and played many games (Battlefield 2 & 2142, FATE, Assassin's Creed, etc.) in full-screen mode with no problems.
Something seems to have happened after the upgrade however as now I am not able to launch some games and have had many difficulties with the others. I have updated the driver specific to my graphics card as well as the Catalyst ones and have checked all the other drivers for updates only to be told they were the most current.
On a related note, my Assassin's Creed is a digital download from EB Games. When I try launching it through DirectX 9 it asks me to insert the CD, and if I try to launch it by any other of the options, the CPU runs for about 5 seconds and then nothing happens.
I say nothing happens, but that's not true. A Windows Error Report is created roughly named AppCrash Assassin's Creed for each time I try to launch it.
As for the other games, FATE creates a process that runs in Task Manager, but nothing shows up on the screen, and occasionally Battlefield 2 does the same.
Is there something that I am missing? I am close to going back and doing a clean install of Windows 7 (instead of having the upgraded version) but would REALLY rather not have to re-install all the programs.
when ever im watching Internet videos in either 1080p or 720p they look good in window mode but when ever i switch to fullscreen the detail is reduced not by alot but still noticeable.
I am trying to figure out how to get a fullscreen on my laptop all the time... i do not want to see my desktop screen at the top and bottom of the page when i am in the internet.
When I install a game in Windows 7 and Windows recognizes it it dumps the game's shortcut in the Game folder of the Start Menu. That wouldn't be a problem except Windows 7 prevents the game from creating the shortcuts it would have created had the operating system not been Windows 7- things like the game's Read Me, Uninstaller & Configuration options.
This problem for me is kindof hard to explain, When i open my World of Warcraft or Crysis with my sound on or even WMP running it distorts whatever sounds are playing horribly, Quite honestly it sounds like two trains colliding in your ears. Its disgusting, If anyone has had this problem or even knows how to fix this please help. P.S. I have updated my Realtek HD driver and still have this problem.
what should i do? i get this screen ' this system does not support full screen mode" i use windows 7. i need the system to play chess master 2100, a DOS game developed in 1989.
E Machine EL1852G Running Windows7When I press play the screen usually goes blank or flashes. If you can find fullscreen button it will work in fullscreen mode.
I generally like to have a clean desktop -- so I put my desktop icons in a familiar location. The trash can always goes in the bottom right, important computer shortcuts / folders in the top right, etc.. However, (I can't say how long its been happening) I use a lot of fullscreen applications (games, mostly), most of the time launched from Steam. When these games exit, my icons are randomly placed. I've noticed that they tend to be close to the top right of the screen extending to the middle of the top. They are not all lined up, there are often spaces in between them.
And not just fullscreen. Saaaay... Farm Frenzy? Or any other game. Computer makes a buzzing noise on EVERY game I play when it loads something from the game. It's not from the speakers, it's from the computer itself. What's the catch?
I am currently having a problem playing 4:3 game with no wide screen support on my 1440x900 (16:10) monitor. What I mean is that when I play it full screened, the game is stretched.
This was funny because It used to add the black bars for me on the sides to keep the 4:3 (800x600) ratio. But then disappeared after I decided to update my graphics card's drivers (Nvidia 9600 GT). I searched everywhere constantly over the net and this forums using the search for a solution but it only seems like people want to remove the black bars, I WANT them.
There are some solutions saying that I should check the "Maintain aspect ratio" selection in the Nvidia control panel, but because I don't have the "Flat Panel Display Monitor" option in my control panel (seen below), I cannot access it.
So having recently installed my new 5870 video card I was quite eager to start running some bench tests and checking out the results.
Initially I booted up Crysis Warhead and Flight Simulator X for a quick run and immediately noticed a drastic improvement with this card. Crysis was on FULL settings and didn't even flinch during gameplay.
Windows WEI improved from 7.4's to 7.8's on graphics (previous card was nvidia Evga 9800 GX2)
3d Mark Vantage on the other hand has got me stumped. My numbers are WAY lower than expected as they are showing way lower than with my 9800 GX2?! Also, the CPU score is coming up as one third of what I was getting before and I haven't made any changes to my CPU!
I suspect that this is a software problem with 3d mark, since everything else showed signs of improvement but can't understand where the issue lies.
I am running Windows 7 x64 & ATI 9.10 Drivers for 7 x64
Attached are screenshots from vantage after tests before with my old card and now with the 5870. The attached GPUZ shot on it's own is of my current config as well.
PS - the total score of my before pic shows '0' by accident, I believe I reset it at the time by mistake but the individual scores beneath are still valid.
hen I watch fullscreen video in any application (VLC, WMP, Mediaplayer Classic), the taskbar appears at the bottom of the screen at random times. In other words, it seems like something is taking focus away from the video. I tried Googling this, but could not find any way to solve it.
when watching Internet videos in fullscreen, eventually the screen turns purple and becomes pixelated. the sound of the video continues for a few seconds, and then even that stops. i can't alt tab, escape, use the windows key, and not even ctrl alt delete will do anything. my only option seems to be to restart. i've managed to reproduce this around 3 times today alone (the error doesn't happen instantly upon going fullscreen into the video, and it doesn't happen at all if i don't do fullscreen).
i want to note that i'm still using a hard drive that's been considered bad by a number of diagnostics programs since early february, but since this is a repeatable scenario related to watching videos on Internet, i want to assume for now that that isn't the main cause (because i don't want to replace the drive right now if not absolutely necessary).
notable things are that i've recently replaced my gts 450 with a 560 ti, which seems to be fine. i play bf3 on ultra, and temps only go up to about 67c (i'm playing on 1440x900), so i don't think this is a problem with the card. maxing gtaiv works fine as well. the only other thing is that i updated my drivers to 296.10 yesterday. is this likely to be the cause of my problem, or is this a possible symptom of a dying hard drive?
I'm looking for a way to automatically maximize a video and all next videos in queue when viewing videos online. The specific example I am looking for is here: NHL Video. As you'll see, when the next video in line plays the screen minimizes to regular size. Note that I have an ad-remover so that ad doesn't come up... I'm looking for a way to automatically maximize the video screen at start and when the next video plays (and thus at the present moment minimizes). Macros would work but it would be hard to time it and to make it work across a large spectrum of sites. I'm looking for something that more or less detect the video applet and thus automatically full screens it when available. Using Firefox but don't mind switching to Chrome/Opera/IE...
I need to allow full screen Windows applications overlapping task bar under Windows 7. The "auto hide" is not the option due to user requirements. One possible solution is to change the code of those applications to allow them overlapping task bar, but it will imply a lot of work as we have many of them already running at customer's side. The best would be just to remove programmatically the "topmost" style of task bar window, but my code failed to do that with the error 0x00000005 "Access denied".
