Lag Upon Startup, Gone Upon Restart. What Could Cause This?

Randomly when I start up this laptop, a Dell XPS 15 running Windows 7, everything will lag graphically. When I minimize or maximize windows, it goes in slow motion. Interestingly, things like typing this post are not slowed down at all. Games play in slow motion, but songs play at normal speed. If I restart the computer, upon resetting everything works fine at maximum speeds. It seems to only happen after the initial start-up, but when it comes it stays and nothing I do can make it go away aside from restarting the computer.
I have tried updating my graphics drivers and going into the task manager and ending every single process on the list that wasn't protected. The former did not fix it, and the latter changed nothing.I have run the latest updated version of Microsoft Security Essentials and everything has come up clean.
I am experiencing BSOD on nearly every boot or restart. Once the computer has been up and running for about 10 minutes, after perhaps two boot attempts, I seldom BSOD until I boot up or restart again. Sometimes the BSOD occurs before windows even fully loads, and sometimes it occurs a few minutes after the desktop appears.I have attached everything requested in the posting instructions (I think). My computer had a memory stick problem about two weeks ago, after I removed the one with problem and reinstalled Windows 7, everything worked fine. This monday, I installed Adobe pdf reader from their website and used the machine for the rest of the day with no issue. Then on tuesday morning when started my computer, I got this "Volume Manager Installed, need to reboot" thing. If I reboot now, same message pops up after reboot. Tried many times until I gave up and selected reboot later. Then the machine worked fine for the rest of the day.However, today when I start my computer, as soon as I got into windows, after my google talk loaded, I got "there is a problem in windows explorer" thing, and I can either choose to "find solution online" or "close". If I select first, system will reboot and same thing happen every time. If I close, I got a blue screen, then automatic reboot also brings me back to the same thing. I tried boot under safe mode, no luck.I'm not sure if the three incidiences (installing adobe, volume manager problem, and blue screen problem) are related, and I wonder if reinstalling windows will solve the problem?I have Windows 7 64bit, cpu i5, 2G mem (use to be 4G but removed 2G). It's not a brand computer and I cannot remember the rest of the spec.

Within last week I have been having trouble with Windows 7 restarting. Originally noticed when the computer goes into sleep mode. When I try to resume windows it defaults to the startup repair tool. Usually this will run 20-30 mins and system will restore. It is happening regularly.
If I power down during the startup repair and do a hard reset, the computer will give me the option to start normally. When I select this the computer will continue and startup without issue.
If I shut down normally and restart the same result has also been occurring.
System runs fine once booted. Only other symptom I noticed is the clock time shown in the tray is consistently wrong now.
This just recently started happening and I cant figure out why. Each time I restart or turn my computer on it takes like 10-15 minutes before I can even do anything. Some programs like Spotify, Skype and even my Task Manager arent showing any letters, I dont know if it was because I tried opening them too early upon restart or not but this whole situation is annoying. I'll provide pictures as an example of whats going on with the letters. Just now I clicked on skype and got an error that said "Out of system resources" I closed it and nothing happened but what is going on...
I believe this problem was caused by CCleaner/Revouninstaller, that's the only thing that did changes to my system before this happens. I tried searching for solutions on Google, and I found this guy with the exact same problem.(url) (Screenshot provided by him, perhaps this can help better understand my problem) Tried System Repair/Restore and Safe Mode, none worked. I followed up with a " Last known good config " option, but the problem is still there.
I am trying to upgrade Vista to Windows7 Home Premium and I got this message after the installer copied ~2GB of files on my PC:
"setup can't continue. restart the computer and restart setup. when prompted try getting the latest updates."
I restarted the PC and restarted the setup and I got the same message. I updated the Mother Board Bios and restarted the setup I got the same message. I have tried both options (get update and no update during the setup). And it didn't work.
I do not want to do custom install (fresh install) on my computer.
Ever since I bought my new computer and installed Windows 7 64 bit Pro I have noticed that sometimes when I start my computer the startup locks up or crashes, requiring me to restart or it takes me to the system repair screen and running this process does nothing.
i used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.
I have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?
My hp dv3t has been giving a message about checking a disk for consistency every time I reboot(ed) for about a week now, but today it froze after the countdown reaches zero (for bypassing the procedure)�nothing I do can get it past this step. What do I do? I tried booting from Safe Mode, it listed a bunch of drivers but then froze.I'm using W7 64-bit Home Premium.
Trying to disable some of the bloatware that came with my HP G62, as well as disable unneeded auto-updates, and have been blocked from doing so.Ran msconfig, startup entries... Unchecked, hit "apply" and they just become checked again. (Ran as administrator on admin account)Tried "Tuneup Utilities." Same effect.Have been trying to disable Yahoo Messenger from starting and it just keeps on starting.I have unchecked the startup box in the pref dialog of the prog.Is my admin account not really admin? (No other accounts on the computer)

Antivirus: The Shield Deluxe Antivirus, Updated and Enabled DISPLAY MODEL: All I got with it was mouse and power cord On Startup, I get icons for the Administrator and Standard user. Clicking on the Administrator gives me a desktop with an on-screen keyboard; the computer keyboard disabled, and a panel saying,"FAILED, The application has failed to start." Going back and clicking on the Standard User icon gets me running for the most part. Here's the BIG problem. Every time I try to install any program, the User Account Control box drops down and asks for the Administrator Password, plus the question,"Do you want to allow the following programs to make changes to your computer?" You click "Yes", but, since no one is in the Administrator office, your installation comes to a halt. This blocks "Install" and "Uninstall". I get lots of messages I need Adobe Flash Player. I've trie over and again to install it, going to Windows 32 bit, but can't uninstall my previous tries. It will always download, and that's all. I've tried to install my digital camera's CD, but can't.
the Startup screen. So I went to the Startup repair tool as was recommended, but after few tries nothing has changed. So I tried to recover to previous recovery point, but also nothing. Then I tried booting to Safe mode, and I saw that during the loading process there was no file shown as succesfully loaded. I might also know what could be the cause of this problem, because yesterday when I was shutting Win down, there was a blackout so obviusly some files are corrupted.
I hate it when this happens and so far, the startup repair has always been able to fix the problem. Today, I'm not so lucky. I'm using my other built right now coz I have to work. I don't remember what updates I did last night but I do remember the dvd drive firmware was updated.I popped in the system restore disc, start it up and the same page appears: Start with windows start up or Start windows normally. Tried both and neither one of them would bring up system restore. This built was only a month old and was hardly used so far so no system restore point was created at this point. I have files in it that I would like to keep but I can't get to them right now so a clean fresh install is needed but I can't get it up.
I have Win 7 Pro on a Thinkpad T510 and I updated the Avast engine. It asked for me to restart the computer. It progressed as far as the "Logging off" screen an stopped. I have manually stopped the computer with the power button but when I power it back on I go to the same "Logging off" screen. I have a restore point but can't get to it unless I can start up the computer at least in Safe Mode. Unfortunately I don't have a boot disk. After years of computing this may be the first time I have needed one.
Bit of a weird one this. My PC won't restart. When I try to get it to restart, it will stay on the black screen right at the very beginning but with nothing else happening; no disk activity or anything. The only remedy is for me to switch it off via the power button and then switch it on again - it boots fine from this. It shuts down absolutely fine, and there are no other problems with my system at all. It's actually more of annoyance than anything else as there don't appear to be any other adverse effects at all. I am guessing it's a mobo issue, but really, I'm stumped.
my pc with a GA P35 dq6 motherboard with a 2.7 CPU intel celeron dual core with a radeon 5850 graphics card works fine until you restart. when you do a reboot or restart, the system shuts down and lights up then shuts down in a loop. it does not turn on. but when you shutdown and turn it on it works fine. only when you do a restart
I installed windows 7 on a brand new HDD,i updated all the drivers of chipset etc,the computer runs fine,but the only problem is that when i try to make it restart the screen goes black, the keyboard and mouse also,but the fan and the pc keeps running, i tried to set the bios to default but nothing,so i tried to restart it from the safe mode,from the same mode it loggs off ok but when the shutting down screen comes it freezes there,so i am guessing its the same thing happening to the normal restart. I tried uninstalling all the newly added programs but still the same thing,i tried resseting the ram but still the same
I've created an application like windows 7 toolkit and i need to restart all the process including explorer.exe(and all its child processes) excluding the application i've created.is there any batch commands or batch file that would restart all the processes running on my laptop except the one I've created.
I have windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on HP DV4-1199ee. The battery is connected and it is working on power is plugged on. When I leave the laptop for long time, I found the the laptop has restarted. This tell that the computer restart instead of sleep.
I have installed windows 7 on a very old HP compaq Evo and it works perfectly but only if I switch OFF and ON, if I have to restart it just don't switch back ON it gives me a black screen.
So I've been messing around with varrious drivers to try and get "RAGE" working and to make this tumultuous process more agravating I've somehow inadvertently uninstalled my USB drivers as well.This wouldn't be an issue, except that my computer has no PS2 ports.I used "GPU caps viewer" to check my driver version as I'd not noticed a change in my gaming performance and I was unsure if the 11.10 preview 2 drivers had been installed. "GPU caps viewer" said i was still running 11.8 which is what I had before I tried changing drivers last time. So I guessed that my drivers had not changed dispite the fact i uninstalled/reinstalled using the guide on the AMD /ATI site.So on a bunch of sites I saw people were using "Driver Sweeper" to get rid of the registry files and hidden bits of the ATI/AMD drivers. I used this application, it found; stuff removed it and then asked if i wanted to reboot. Which I figured after Uninstalling the Drivers and this program tooling around it was probably required sooner than later to finish the uninstall.At this point the drivers are "uninstalled" and the generic windows driver is working because my resolution/aspect ratio is stuck at 4:3 and wont go 16:10/16:9.AND more importantly my USB devices were all still working.I restart the computer and It loads windows and I try to type my password and nothing happens, The mouse cursor is in the middle of the screen and I can not move it, and there are no lights on my keyboard. The optical sensor in the bottom of my mouse Also does not light up.I restart again, and check the BIOS, all USB ports are enabled, so I try booting in to safe mode. I can use my keyboard to work in the BIOS, and to select "Safe mode with networking" (vs safe mode with out)When safe mode loads, same issue. No power to USB devices.I tested a bunch of devices; xbox controler; USB memory stick, external HDD etc. and none work.I don't know what to do; the mouse and keyboard work in the recovery partition installed on my HDD, but I really don't want to lose all that data. Ill probably end up using a live CD of linux to get my files and then format the PC if I can't figure out how to fix this.
The last few times I have restarted my windows 7 PC everything goes according to how it should, the desktop appears in under two minutes but nothing will work. I can click on any icon and nothing happens then after about 20 minutes evey programme I clicked on earlier will open one after the other. after closing these progs the comp performs normally, I noticed that even Ctrl alt and delete does nothing during this period of disobedience, anyone had this before? it is a week or so that I have a problem with my PC.When I shut down the PC, instead of turning off, he restart.Before restarting, for a brief moment I can see a BSOD screen, but I cannot read it.After the PC restart, I see a small window telling me that the PC was restored due to an error. [code] A week and a half ago, I installed two add-on cards ( a PCI USB card and a PCIE USB 3.0 card), and with the PCI I has troubles to make it run, so I uninstalled it and I sent it back to the store.With the USB 3.0 instead everything was fine.I dont know if this is related to the problem I have right now.
I cannot restart my computer. I go to Start > Restart, it shuts down but it doesnt do anything else, i just get a black screen (as if it is suspended). So I have to press the button to shut it down and then press it again to turn it on.
I always wondering why did I have low fps in game until I restart my laptop. After installing MSI Afterburner, I realize that when I turn on my laptop, my GPU won't pass 70% in game(that means low fps). Restart fix the problem(95% all the time and no fps drop), but I didn't want to restart everytime I turn on my laptop. This is not random and happen all the time when I turn on my computer for the first time.

p.s : Nvidia driver is the latest version, I tried reinstall/rollback new/old driver but it didn't fix the problem.
I plugged my external HDD into the USB port & the computer normally sees it right away, but this time it doesnt. I even just restarted the computer & it still isn't seeing it?
