BSOD On Startup Or Restart?
Jun 22, 2012
I am experiencing BSOD on nearly every boot or restart. Once the computer has been up and running for about 10 minutes, after perhaps two boot attempts, I seldom BSOD until I boot up or restart again. Sometimes the BSOD occurs before windows even fully loads, and sometimes it occurs a few minutes after the desktop appears.I have attached everything requested in the posting instructions (I think). Additionally, I have included the last four dumps

Randomly when I start up this laptop, a Dell XPS 15 running Windows 7, everything will lag graphically. When I minimize or maximize windows, it goes in slow motion. Interestingly, things like typing this post are not slowed down at all. Games play in slow motion, but songs play at normal speed. If I restart the computer, upon resetting everything works fine at maximum speeds. It seems to only happen after the initial start-up, but when it comes it stays and nothing I do can make it go away aside from restarting the computer.
I have tried updating my graphics drivers and going into the task manager and ending every single process on the list that wasn't protected. The former did not fix it, and the latter changed nothing.I have run the latest updated version of Microsoft Security Essentials and everything has come up clean.

My computer had a memory stick problem about two weeks ago, after I removed the one with problem and reinstalled Windows 7, everything worked fine. This monday, I installed Adobe pdf reader from their website and used the machine for the rest of the day with no issue. Then on tuesday morning when started my computer, I got this "Volume Manager Installed, need to reboot" thing. If I reboot now, same message pops up after reboot. Tried many times until I gave up and selected reboot later. Then the machine worked fine for the rest of the day. However, today when I start my computer, as soon as I got into windows, after my google talk loaded, I got "there is a problem in windows explorer" thing, and I can either choose to "find solution online" or "close". If I select first, system will reboot and same thing happen every time. If I close, I got a blue screen, then automatic reboot also brings me back to the same thing. I tried boot under safe mode, no luck.I'm not sure if the three incidiences (installing adobe, volume manager problem, and blue screen problem) are related, and I wonder if reinstalling windows will solve the problem?I have Windows 7 64bit, cpu i5, 2G mem (use to be 4G but removed 2G). It's not a brand computer and I cannot remember the rest of the spec.

i used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.

Working on a Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows 7 Home...
Within last week I have been having trouble with Windows 7 restarting. Originally noticed when the computer goes into sleep mode. When I try to resume windows it defaults to the startup repair tool. Usually this will run 20-30 mins and system will restore. It is happening regularly.
If I power down during the startup repair and do a hard reset, the computer will give me the option to start normally. When I select this the computer will continue and startup without issue.
If I shut down normally and restart the same result has also been occurring.
System runs fine once booted. Only other symptom I noticed is the clock time shown in the tray is consistently wrong now.

This just recently started happening and I cant figure out why. Each time I restart or turn my computer on it takes like 10-15 minutes before I can even do anything. Some programs like Spotify, Skype and even my Task Manager arent showing any letters, I dont know if it was because I tried opening them too early upon restart or not but this whole situation is annoying. I'll provide pictures as an example of whats going on with the letters. Just now I clicked on skype and got an error that said "Out of system resources" I closed it and nothing happened but what is going on...

I believe this problem was caused by CCleaner/Revouninstaller, that's the only thing that did changes to my system before this happens. I tried searching for solutions on Google, and I found this guy with the exact same problem.(url) (Screenshot provided by him, perhaps this can help better understand my problem) Tried System Repair/Restore and Safe Mode, none worked. I followed up with a " Last known good config " option, but the problem is still there.

The system automatically restarts and i Select run windows normally again it restarts and gives BSOD. I can run windows in Safe mode, and safe mode with networking. When it restarts i hit run windows normally, it runs everything is fine. The boom BSOD.

today I have ran into a troublesome problem. When I turn on my computer, after 10-20 minutes it would BSOD then crash before I even have a chance to read it. After it restarts it will said that it is unable to boot and select a boot device. When I go into the BIOS the moment it restarts my hard drive would not appear there, but if I turn off the computer and turn it back on it would appear again as the selected boot device, but will soon later crash once more.

I tried posting on the Windows 7 forums, but I seemed to have gone nowhere fast with them over there. Lots of page views, but not a single piece of help or advice and quickly buried under tons of other BSOD threads. So I'm hoping someone here could point me in a direction and help narrow down what's going on and what needs to be done.

This BSOD has been happening more regularly, sometimes after 30mins, other times after a couple of hours. If I try and restart it crashes shortly after Win 7 logo appears.Unless I disconnect the power for at least 15mins, it won't restart Windows - just re crashes.Have attached the dump and sysdata files - note that the two files are not always written.

I've been having this problem for about one year now and I decided it's time I sought online help. My PC is about 2 and a half years old and the current windows installation is roughly 2 years old (windows 7 professional x64 from microsoft academic alliance).Crashes/freezes happen at random times (I had gone about a month with none) and not when a particular program is running. I've attached minidump files and system health report.

I am totally new to this and am really confused. About maybe a week ago I started having BSOD, plus Windows wouldn't restart after going into Sleepmode, and when I tried to Shut Down it would bring up the shut down screen then just keep "shutting down" with out ever shutting down.
So I read some internet stuff and "Reinstalled Windows 7" and seem to still have the issues.

I'm having an BSOD error, and it also refuses to write a minidump and kerneldump. So I can`t use any analysis tools. And yes, it's enabled!
Stop message: *** STOP: 0x00000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800F209B30, 0xFFFFFA800F209E10, 0xFFFFF80003787240)
After restart it sometimes does not find the primary hard drive. The error pops up from time to time. Sometimes from browsing the web, downloading or playing a game. It even pops up while I`m not doing anything at all. I did a checkdisk and it turned out clean.

I attempted install of RC1 on a new hard drive and got as far
as "Completing Installation". System reboots and after logo goes
to black screen. No error codes.
Reboot and selected Safe Mode. Win 7 says "Can't complete installation
in Safe Mode".
Reboot, press F8, select Low Resolution. Same results. Black screen.
System configure:
Asus P5Q3 Deluxe Wifi
4 gb DDR3 memory
E8500 Intel Processor
EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9800GT with 512 mb ram
On board Marvel Lan
On board Ralink Wifi
On board sound
1 - 500 gb SATA II hard drive
1 - Sata DVD
This machine runs Windows Vista Business with absolutely no problems.
This machine runs Mac OS X 10.5.6 with Absolutely no problems.
This machine runs Windows 7 Build 7000 with absolutely no problems.
I use a different hard drive for each operating system and I have
a brand new drive that I'm using to install Win 7. The drive I'm
using to install Win 7 can run Win 7 Build 7000 perfectly.
I do a clean install attempt to install RC1 and I get above results.
I reinstalled Win 7 Build 7000 on the same drive and just before boot
it says "Checking Vidoe card performance", then reboots and Win 7,
Build 700 is installed.
On clean install of Win 7, Rc 1 it appears to get to the exact same pont
(although I don't see the message about testing performance), reboots,
and gives black screen.
I have been on a couple of board and the predominant them is BSOD's
at boot for machines running Nvidia graphics. It would appear that RC1 has fouled up the Nvidia drivers.
I can't get into Low Res mode to load the approved 9800gt drivers from
EVGA so I can't complete the installation.
I'm hoping someone from Microsoft sees this and comments.
Any other thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed.

This also happened to me (the BSODs) but not after installing RAM - I'm not sure what the error code was though, I upgraded my OS from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows 7 (I actually installed Windows 7 on a different partition) and didn't actually do an "upgrade" - but I wasn't sure if I should "uninstall" or delete the old Windows OS from the other partition. Not sure how to go about doing that - just by deleting, or having to clean registry keys, etc. I also had to install a new video card - since my previous one would not work right under Windows 7.
