os is windows 7. PC working great until lately, when I try to read news or e-mail, I keep losing connection, however the modem is working and the indicator still tells me that I am connected to the inernet.
View 1 RepliesI have successfully connected my two Windows7 machines via local network (Ethernet) - it worked automatically, no setup was needed. Everything is fine, for example I'm able to use a share mouse utility via the local network and control both computers with the same mouse. However once the network is swtiched on, my stick modem mobile 3G internet connection is shut down (the browser reports DNS name not resolved error). If I turn off the router the internet connection immediately returns. I tried to disable the firewall but to no avail.

I have no problem connecting to the network but at random times I lose connection to the internet for a few seconds or a few minuites. I never lose connection to the network though. My playstation 3 has a wired connection directly to the modem as does the computer in the living room, and those units never lose connection. How ever my computer in my room along with my xbox 360, which is also in my room, loses connection wirelessly. My xbox and this computer DO NOT have this problem at other people houses so I'm thinking it must be my router (Linksys E1000). The wireless adapter I have on my computer is a Linksys WMP600N Dual Band. Both the router and my wireless card have the lastest firmware and I have also tried giving my computer a static IP along with the Xbox and forwarding the ports for it. Still does not work for me. I am able to connect to my neighbors internet which has no problems with connection other than the fact that its laggy since i am far from their router. I really dont want to go out and buy a new router so any help anyone could give me would be awesome!
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my laptop which uses wired LAN, I am finding that when it goes to sleep and then I wake it up, the network/internet connection is lost. This began a few days ago when decided to give Windows 8 Consumer Preview a try. I had other issues with Win 8, so I decided to revert back to Win 7, as it used to be, and did a clean install of Win 7 SP1 32-bit, updated all the drivers, installed all the essential windows update. In short, I have a pristine system, running Windows 7 32-bit. But, this LAN disconnect problem, which I only began to notice with the switch to Win 8, came back. The only way for me to get the LAN back is to reboot the laptop. I made sure that in the LAN Adapter setting I have the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a wireless router and we have three laptops and a desktop using it. All other stay connected except my notebook which has windows 7. I also recently downloaded skype to talk to family overseas. Almost every time I am having a conversation, I suddenly lose the connection. However, I lose a connection at other times also. Skype doesn't have to be running for it to lose the connection. There seems to be no ryhme or reason for this. I ran a scan on my virus protection, but it reveals no threats. I am not so computer savvy either, only the basics.

Skype is running but if I use it to talk to someone, connection drops after a few minutes then comes back on after anywhere from a few seconds to longer, does the same thing when using Msn Messenger voice chat.

I have a customer that has just installed a new Dlink N300 router and cable modem internet. He has both a desk top which is hardwired to the router and a laptop which is using the wireless. The desk top does not have any problem with a connection but when he buts the laptop in hibernation it can not find the wireless connection. The odd thing about it is that even though he can not find his own network he can see other networks around him. Any ideas out there on how to solve this issue. This is the second router that we have installed so I am guessing it is not defective equipment.

I regularly lose my connection to the workgroup while all 4 other computers do not. i have shortcuts direct to various machines that fail. i can sometimes restart the network by going into the my network places section and it can then connect to the other workgroup computers but sometimes a full reboot is required. this happens sometimes multiple times in a day. i have turned off the power save settings that shut down wifi, i am using built-in wifi connection like the other machines on my workgroup are.

I need to turn my super-hub on and off again, but it will keep losing the connection. I have noticed that if I exit Bit-torrent then I don't lose my connection, but I am not sure whether this is just a coincidence. Is this because of the amount of data I am downloading using Bit-torrent and my super-hub is turning off the connection on purpose or is this something else?

The problem I'm getting is that constantly now the laptop losing its internet connection (goes to limited connectivity) or cannot connect then when i try troubleshooting/diagnosing/open the network center as soon as i run the troubleshooting etc the laptop freezes then the only way it will work again is to turn it off and back on, I would then get an internet connection again, sometimes for half an hour but often no more than five minutes.
I'm pretty sure the wireless Internet is not the issue as the fault occurs exactly the same at
- My house
- Girlfriends house
- and has also happened when using a friends wireless at his place
So the same internet connection fault occurs at three separate connections which leads me to believe its the laptop playing up.
Sometimes, when I'm writing an e-mail, I, inadvertently, hit a key that wipes out the e-mail. It isn't saved in drafts and I can't get it back no matter what I do.. What key do I hit that causes this? it's, especially, worrisome when I'm 90% through a long e-mail.

I have my OS on a seperate drive from everything else, so is there a way I can reformat and install the release copy of the OS onto the OS drive so that all of my other programs will still work (registry and appdata folder stuff intact I mean), without ending up with a seriously unstable OS because I've reintroduced registry entries and other faults from the old OS?

I started getting a "DNS not responding"? on my desktop. All my wireless devices work fine, and when I turn off my laptop's WiFi card and plug it into the same router it works as well.I've done some Googleing on the issue and none of what I found has helped.When I do an ipconfig on each maching, the thing I notice is that on the working laptop I have an entry for the "Connection specific DNS suffix under the "Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection", where on the desktop that's not working the suffix is blank.

I've tried deleting all but my last system restore point, and even so, that only uses up 15% so I'm told. I've deleted all unnecessary programs down to the bare essential stuff, I've cleared internet history/cookies often, I've deleted gig after gig of my music until it was gone, and I have virus protection software that hasn't brought up anything major. It's not going away in chunks, just megabytes at a time. I've done everything online I can find, and nothing stopped it, what's happening here?

About 1 week from today, I installed my copy of Windows 7. I had 92.7 GB free of 123 GB by the end of the day after downloading/installing all of the programs I needed. (I'm ocd so I keep track of how much space I have in my (C) Drive after every download/install.So the next morning I turn my laptop on. What?! I suddenly have 90.8 GB free of 123 GB on my (C) Drive?!Now I'm sitting here a week later down to 88.9 GB free of 123 GB in my (C) Drive.Besides downloading/installing the things I needed, I also did Disk Cleanups where I got rid of of my Windows.old files (XP and Vista). I've also deleted all of my System Restore and Shadow Copies in the More Options tab. Could that be the reason why?

The driveconfigurations are:C: 80GB SSD (Intel) which contains the OSD: Programs)/E: Data) WD 1TF: (Misc) WD 1TAttempt to backup to the F: drive, above, as well as an external 1T drive connected via USB2 to the computer.Have tried the Windows 7x64 backup package, NovaStor, Acronis and one other backup package. All four of the backup programs NEVER run to completion - they simply quit the backup process. So for almost a year I have been unable to do a proper backup!When the backup stops/quits I have noticed that the drive letters of the disk drives I was backing up (a single file or multiple files from the drive) disappear and the drives are no longer accessible. To restore the drive letters I simply reboot the system and all is as it should be.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 64bit. I have two DVD drives "D" and "F" both connected by Sata to the motherboard (Asus MA78 Pro).
"D" is fine. "F" disappears! Not shown in "Computer" or "Control panel" I have tried all the registry hacks I can find, together with all other advice from the 'web, to no avail.
If I open the case, unplug and reconnect the power cable, Win 7 will immediately recognise the drive and install the drivers. All is fine for a few days before "F" vanishes again. No alteration to the computer is done during this time.
I am connected to a network through a router and the printer I use is connected directly to another computer. On initial boot up my computer shows the printer under "devices and printers" and I can print. However over time, the printer disappears from "devices and printers" and the only thing I can do is re-boot to get the printer back. How do I stop the computer from loosing the printer?

The iPad and the phones connect without any problems at all and stay connected without interuption. But the two laptops keep losing internet access! They stay connected 10-15 minutes, then invariably lose internet access. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect again to get back on the net - but again, only for 10-15 minutes.I've tried many things - changing the channel, playing with all sorts of parameters (as suggested by the online chat guy) - but to no avail.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had Windows 7 RC1 for a few months now, and up until now it's been working flawlessly. Now when I'm doing anything, I click with the mouse, the window loses focus to another window. This is hard to describe but I've noticed that some of the open programs on the taskbar also disappear but then reappear almost instantly while this is happening. If I have multiple programs open they'll even rearrange the order (not the pinned programs), ie: firefox open and i have control panel open, firefox will flicker, lose focus, then the program icon will disappear from the left of the control panel and then be on the right, as if I had opened it after I had opened Control Panel.
It might be important to note that I just installed a windows update yesterday, that's the only thing I've really changed.
I'm running a Dell XPS M1530, 2 gigs of ram, and I have about 8 gigs free on my windows drive. I'm running a GeForce 8600M GT driver version 176.44 (forceware drivers). I use a Logitech VX Nano mouse.
I don't even really know how to diagnose the problem - I was thinking maybe driver issues or maybe even a mouse issue
