Continually Losing Wireless Connection To Windows 7
Oct 22, 2011
I recently purchased a wireless router and we have three laptops and a desktop using it. All other stay connected except my notebook which has windows 7. I also recently downloaded skype to talk to family overseas. Almost every time I am having a conversation, I suddenly lose the connection. However, I lose a connection at other times also. Skype doesn't have to be running for it to lose the connection. There seems to be no ryhme or reason for this. I ran a scan on my virus protection, but it reveals no threats. I am not so computer savvy either, only the basics.

I have recently been having difficulties with connecting with my wireless connection. We have a in-home router that is connected to two computer's downstairs by cable. I however own a Acer, Windows 7 laptop that I mainly use upstairs and I get a Excellent signal strength.I have connected to my Home wireless connection before with no problem but recently the connection keeps coming up as ~Identifying... No Internet Access. Also when I have had connection to this network prior to this problem the connection is under Home. But when I try to connect to the same network it comes up as Public or just keeps Identifying. I have the connection set to Connect Automatically. Also the yellow triangle with the exclamation point almost always pops up immediately when I reboot my system or after I Disconnect and Connect the network again. I have tried Disabling and Enabling the network in the adapter settings and this does not work either. In the manage wireless networks tab, I have repeatedly deleted the connection and reentered the security password and again put it as automatically connect but it still comes up as Identifying. I have seen many people with this same problem and have tried many of the suggestions to no avail. It is rather bizarre because my connection will be in this Identifying state for a while and randomly connect properly and I have no idea what makes it go off and on so erratically. I just had it working again for a few days and it is again acting up.

Acer aspire 5750 laptop ( about 9 months old )
Wireless Internet with 'excellent' signal strength on internet
Windows 7 Home Premium
The problem I'm getting is that constantly now the laptop losing its internet connection (goes to limited connectivity) or cannot connect then when i try troubleshooting/diagnosing/open the network center as soon as i run the troubleshooting etc the laptop freezes then the only way it will work again is to turn it off and back on, I would then get an internet connection again, sometimes for half an hour but often no more than five minutes.
I'm pretty sure the wireless Internet is not the issue as the fault occurs exactly the same at
- My house
- Girlfriends house
- and has also happened when using a friends wireless at his place
So the same internet connection fault occurs at three separate connections which leads me to believe its the laptop playing up.

I have had this same trouble with my Toshiba, but only at home. When I travel and am at other people's homes, I never have this problem. I wonder if it could be a router or modem issue.

I was connected to my neighbors wireless network via Linksys for several months, but after he had it shut off and reconnected they gave him a different IP address, ID and password. I have all the passwords and the signal shows up, but it is continually "aquiring a network address". Does he have to change something in his settings to allow access once again?

my computer is a dell laptop Vostro13 with preloaded Windows 7 32 bit. I regularly lose my connection to the workgroup while all 4 other computers do not. i have shortcuts direct to various machines that fail. i can sometimes restart the network by going into the my network places section and it can then connect to the other workgroup computers but sometimes a full reboot is required. this happens sometimes multiple times in a day. i have turned off the power save settings that shut down wifi, i am using built-in wifi connection like the other machines on my workgroup are.

see the attachment for the icon with the exclamation mark.
Even though I have connection to the Internet and my wireless Network is active, the exclamation mark and the accompanying message remain. This morning I have been on the computer for three hours, for example, and I just made the screen shot. This condition has existed on a Toshiba laptop since "day one,' a number of months now.
The icon is of no value, if it doesn't change to "connected" when appropriate.

I have a problem that has been puzzling and annoying me very much for the past week or so. I have no problem connecting to the network but at random times I lose connection to the internet for a few seconds or a few minuites. I never lose connection to the network though. My playstation 3 has a wired connection directly to the modem as does the computer in the living room, and those units never lose connection. How ever my computer in my room along with my xbox 360, which is also in my room, loses connection wirelessly. My xbox and this computer DO NOT have this problem at other people houses so I'm thinking it must be my router (Linksys E1000). The wireless adapter I have on my computer is a Linksys WMP600N Dual Band. Both the router and my wireless card have the lastest firmware and I have also tried giving my computer a static IP along with the Xbox and forwarding the ports for it. Still does not work for me. I am able to connect to my neighbors internet which has no problems with connection other than the fact that its laggy since i am far from their router. I really dont want to go out and buy a new router so any help anyone could give me would be awesome!

On my laptop which uses wired LAN, I am finding that when it goes to sleep and then I wake it up, the network/internet connection is lost. This began a few days ago when decided to give Windows 8 Consumer Preview a try. I had other issues with Win 8, so I decided to revert back to Win 7, as it used to be, and did a clean install of Win 7 SP1 32-bit, updated all the drivers, installed all the essential windows update. In short, I have a pristine system, running Windows 7 32-bit. But, this LAN disconnect problem, which I only began to notice with the switch to Win 8, came back. The only way for me to get the LAN back is to reboot the laptop. I made sure that in the LAN Adapter setting I have the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

I got a new laptop and using any voice chat program keeps making it lose net connection, finally narrowed that down after trying multiple things. Skype is running but if I use it to talk to someone, connection drops after a few minutes then comes back on after anywhere from a few seconds to longer, does the same thing when using Msn Messenger voice chat.

I have a customer that has just installed a new Dlink N300 router and cable modem internet. He has both a desk top which is hardwired to the router and a laptop which is using the wireless. The desk top does not have any problem with a connection but when he buts the laptop in hibernation it can not find the wireless connection. The odd thing about it is that even though he can not find his own network he can see other networks around him. Any ideas out there on how to solve this issue. This is the second router that we have installed so I am guessing it is not defective equipment.

For the last few days of an evening after downloading large amounts of data using Bit-torrent i.e. 70GB, I keep losing my internet connection. I need to turn my super-hub on and off again, but it will keep losing the connection. I have noticed that if I exit Bit-torrent then I don't lose my connection, but I am not sure whether this is just a coincidence. Is this because of the amount of data I am downloading using Bit-torrent and my super-hub is turning off the connection on purpose or is this something else?

I have an ADSL modem connected to a Cisco E-1000 wifi router. I have two laptops (Windows Vista and 7), an iPad and two smart phones. The iPad and the phones connect without any problems at all and stay connected without interuption. But the two laptops keep losing internet access! They stay connected 10-15 minutes, then invariably lose internet access. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect again to get back on the net - but again, only for 10-15 minutes.I've tried many things - changing the channel, playing with all sorts of parameters (as suggested by the online chat guy) - but to no avail.

I'm using an ASUS Pro31F laptop with Windows 7 Professional 32it.We recently moved house and got the internet set up. For everyone else in the house the wireless works fine. However for me and my laptop, it is constantly disconnecting and will say "limited access" with a yellow exclamation point over the wireless icon in the system tray. So in other words, it appears as if it has a connection, yet my internet will stop working. I have to disconnect from that same icon and reconnect which usually fixes the problem. But it's so annoying I'm finding myself often having to do it at least every 5 minutes while I'm surfing the net.
Now other members of my family with laptops have mentioned to me occassionally it will disconnect for them, yet rarely - more so nowhere near as much as me. The main difference between my computer and everyone else's is that I'm the only one using Windows 7 while the rest of them all have XP. I've even tried going to other ends of the house where they use it but have the same problem, leading me to believe it is a problem with my computer and not the wireless or router itself. I'm also thinking it is most likely an issue to do with windows 7 as I searched the net and found many people with similar issues. I never had a problem with the wireless on the same laptop at my old house however.
It appears to happen intermittently, however one thing I have noticed that it will usually increase the chance of happening if I am performing a lot of activity on the net. For e.g. if I am looking at wikipedia and open several tabs from links within that page in a short period of time, it will usually not like that, and disconnect again. Same as if I am multi-tasking switching between a few tabs and loading a few pages at once.

so recently these few days i've been having some problems with wireless connection in my laptop. whenever i'm browsing the internet or using Internet etc., i'll suddenly lose access to internet even though i'll have full bar connection.
i'm using a hp g62-358 with windows 7 home premium 64-bit.
i've been using it since 2010 until now and this problem only just came up recently. there are 5 laptops including mine that are in the house using the same wireless network. however, only my laptop has this issue.
this problem only happens when i'm on the net. when this happens, i had to either disconnect from the network or turn off the wireless lan adapter and wait for a few minutes. when i reconnect or turn on lan, i'll have access to internet again, however not for long.

I have an ad-hoc wireless connection set up on my Verizon XV6800 phone. I am able to connect to it and use the internet with no problem; however, Windows 7 will not remember the connection. Every time I restart the computer I have to click the network SSID on the list and choose "Connect" and the it prompts me for the network key. (It remembers the connection settings for a regular wireless network properly.)

I tried reinstalling windows and formatting the hard drive. That works for about 3 days till windows installs its huge update. Then it starts freezing again. So then I do a system restore to a day before those updates happened, when the computer was fine and I turn off updates. It now becomes very slow for five minutes and then freezes. Now it won't even take me to the login screen. I am almost a 100% sure it isn't a virus since I always have malwarebytes Microsoft security essentials and avast on, and I really haven't gone to any shady sites in the last 3 days. I am running windows 7 64 bit

I have a 3 PC router based workgroup network. 2 PCs are XP SP 3, one PC is Windows 7 When all PCs are wired, everything works just fine. All PCs (W7 and XP) can see and share files with all other PCs (It took a bit of doing but I got there eventually)If I try to connect the W7 PC wirelessly,
* the W7 PC cannot access/share files on the XP machines
* the XP machines can see and share files on the W7 PC
* The W7 PC can access the router and can ping the other PCs
There is no firewall in operation on the XP machine What do I need to do to get the W7 machine to access/share files on the XP machine via wireless connection?

Just reinstalled my windows 7 home premium after having some issues and thus far everything is working swell, except for the fact that I can't seem to find any wireless connections under connections available- I can't even seem to set up wireless connections.
I know nothing is wrong inside the computer since my splash top allows me to go onto the internet wirelessly- so I'm guessing this has something to do with me just installing windows 7 home premium again.
Without the internet I can't download drivers or get windows updates-
Looked in device manager and there are three exclamations next to these drivers:
standard VGA Graphics Adapter
Network Controller
Unknown device
Can't seem to fix the exclamations since I can't get internet access (only have wireless net) Is there anything I can download and burn to get these drivers working?

I have a problem with internet access when connecting wirelessly on ONE Win 7 64 laptop on ONE router. The same laptop connects to internet just fine to ALL other routers, while ALL other computers (with different OS) connect to internet just fine via this router. The laptop in question connects well to the router itself and you can red everywhere that it is connected to internet as well. But when i try to load any pages in any browsers i get "server not found" in FireFox or "This webpage is not available" in Chrome. Email and torrent clients don't work either. This does not seem to be a DNS issue because accessing sites via IP address does not work. Pinging any sites or IP addresses does not work. The strangest thing is that the situation have been worsening slowly over last 2 weeks - at first everything was just fine, then i would have to reload pages every now and then, last days i would succeed less and less frequently and as of yesterday - no luck at all.

I work as a software developer and have had a lot of experience with wireless networking. I have an old wireless router (unsecured at the moment) that I have connected to a modem, provided by Virgin media. When I use a cable to directly connect to the router, all seems fine, but when I attempt to connect wirelessly I am almost immediately presented with "Windows was unable to connect to [router name]". Other people in my house (on both XP and Vista) can connect to the router without any problems, implying that it is a setting within Windows 7. HOWEVER, I am able to connect to another (unsecured) wireless router. I guess this can only mean that there is a setting on the router that is preventing me from connecting...

I am facing an issue where the wireless connectivity drops intermittently for my Win 7 Home Basic Notebook.Within less then a minute the connection is resumed. Earlier I thought that it was an issue with my service provider. But then I did not face this issue with my Win XP notebook. I mean, both the notebooks are connected and then the wireless connection of Win 7 drops for a minute and then reconnects. During the period when the connection drops, I can still see my SSID, and also checked that the Win XP was connected and I could access the internet. What could be the root cause and the possible solutions for this issue? It is really frustrating when the connection drops when I am downloading big files and I have to start all over.
