Recently, it seems that when I try to install new programs or update programs already installed I get a response that an internet connection cannot be found. I have the ability to surf the net, and programs that automatically update themselves are working fine ie: Microsoft Security Updates, Panda, Firefox. Programs that fail to update/install new: Real Player, Google Earth, Malwarebytes and a couple of others. I've tried turning off the firewall to my Panda AV, but still have an issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an ad-hoc wireless connection set up on my Verizon XV6800 phone. I am able to connect to it and use the internet with no problem; however, Windows 7 will not remember the connection. Every time I restart the computer I have to click the network SSID on the list and choose "Connect" and the it prompts me for the network key. (It remembers the connection settings for a regular wireless network properly.)

It was working fine then I downloaded a pre-loaded version of Microsoft Office 10 suites and the next time I tried to get online the connection was gone. View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a wireless router and we have three laptops and a desktop using it. All other stay connected except my notebook which has windows 7. I also recently downloaded skype to talk to family overseas. Almost every time I am having a conversation, I suddenly lose the connection. However, I lose a connection at other times also. Skype doesn't have to be running for it to lose the connection. There seems to be no ryhme or reason for this. I ran a scan on my virus protection, but it reveals no threats. I am not so computer savvy either, only the basics.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 PC router based workgroup network. 2 PCs are XP SP 3, one PC is Windows 7 When all PCs are wired, everything works just fine. All PCs (W7 and XP) can see and share files with all other PCs (It took a bit of doing but I got there eventually)If I try to connect the W7 PC wirelessly,
* the W7 PC cannot access/share files on the XP machines
* the XP machines can see and share files on the W7 PC
* The W7 PC can access the router and can ping the other PCs
There is no firewall in operation on the XP machine What do I need to do to get the W7 machine to access/share files on the XP machine via wireless connection?
Alright I am running Windows 7 X64 Bit. I am running a Linksys AE1000 wireless adapter with a Linksys router with Comcast cable. Anyway here is my problem. Before I didn't have to configure the IP4 settings as it was set automatically obtain IP and DNS settings. But now I have to put in those values manually to get online because if I don't I get the unidentified network in my the network area.I have done the following setting adjustments:-Disabled the bonjour service.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust reinstalled my windows 7 home premium after having some issues and thus far everything is working swell, except for the fact that I can't seem to find any wireless connections under connections available- I can't even seem to set up wireless connections.
I know nothing is wrong inside the computer since my splash top allows me to go onto the internet wirelessly- so I'm guessing this has something to do with me just installing windows 7 home premium again.
Without the internet I can't download drivers or get windows updates-
Looked in device manager and there are three exclamations next to these drivers:
standard VGA Graphics Adapter
Network Controller
Unknown device
Can't seem to fix the exclamations since I can't get internet access (only have wireless net) Is there anything I can download and burn to get these drivers working?
I have a problem with internet access when connecting wirelessly on ONE Win 7 64 laptop on ONE router. The same laptop connects to internet just fine to ALL other routers, while ALL other computers (with different OS) connect to internet just fine via this router. The laptop in question connects well to the router itself and you can red everywhere that it is connected to internet as well. But when i try to load any pages in any browsers i get "server not found" in FireFox or "This webpage is not available" in Chrome. Email and torrent clients don't work either. This does not seem to be a DNS issue because accessing sites via IP address does not work. Pinging any sites or IP addresses does not work. The strangest thing is that the situation have been worsening slowly over last 2 weeks - at first everything was just fine, then i would have to reload pages every now and then, last days i would succeed less and less frequently and as of yesterday - no luck at all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work as a software developer and have had a lot of experience with wireless networking. I have an old wireless router (unsecured at the moment) that I have connected to a modem, provided by Virgin media. When I use a cable to directly connect to the router, all seems fine, but when I attempt to connect wirelessly I am almost immediately presented with "Windows was unable to connect to [router name]". Other people in my house (on both XP and Vista) can connect to the router without any problems, implying that it is a setting within Windows 7. HOWEVER, I am able to connect to another (unsecured) wireless router. I guess this can only mean that there is a setting on the router that is preventing me from connecting...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am facing an issue where the wireless connectivity drops intermittently for my Win 7 Home Basic Notebook.Within less then a minute the connection is resumed. Earlier I thought that it was an issue with my service provider. But then I did not face this issue with my Win XP notebook. I mean, both the notebooks are connected and then the wireless connection of Win 7 drops for a minute and then reconnects. During the period when the connection drops, I can still see my SSID, and also checked that the Win XP was connected and I could access the internet. What could be the root cause and the possible solutions for this issue? It is really frustrating when the connection drops when I am downloading big files and I have to start all over.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Asus eee PC since 2010 with Win 7 and never had any problem. I was working on my laptop without any problem. But for last couple of hours I am not able to connect to my wireless network. It doesn't show any network. It only shows the message "Not connected. No connections available". I have internet service through out the house. Wireless is also working on my IPod, IPad and IPhone. I have desktop connected with network wire and internet is working just fine. When I connect my EEE with network cable, everything is working as expected. Only wireless is not working.
I already tried the following:
1. Restarted my eee pc
2. Restarted wireless router (doing this before, would remove any problem but not this time)
3. Tried clicking Fn + F2 buttons
Also, few minutes back my machine was updated with automatic update of Win 7 SP1. Nothing is working.. I don't know what happened. It is so frustrating to see things stop working without any valid reason.
I bought a fujitsu T731 tablet PC with windows 7 professional a few days ago and it works ok if I do not let it update with an install of " windows 7 service pack 1 " which looses the wireles connection. This is a reproduceable problem which I reported to fujitsu who's answer is to not allow updates and saying it's not their problem but rather microsoft's which is not allowing their driver for the wireless. I had to reinstall fujitsu's recovery files and another time had to do restore thru windows. So now it works but without the update install.

Wireless Internet with 'excellent' signal strength on internet
Windows 7 Home Premium
The problem I'm getting is that constantly now the laptop losing its internet connection (goes to limited connectivity) or cannot connect then when i try troubleshooting/diagnosing/open the network center as soon as i run the troubleshooting etc the laptop freezes then the only way it will work again is to turn it off and back on, I would then get an internet connection again, sometimes for half an hour but often no more than five minutes.
I'm pretty sure the wireless Internet is not the issue as the fault occurs exactly the same at
- My house
- Girlfriends house
- and has also happened when using a friends wireless at his place
So the same internet connection fault occurs at three separate connections which leads me to believe its the laptop playing up.
I have purchased a D-Link 1040 wireless print server and have connected it to my printer using a USB connection. I have installed the software. I turned the power on and pressed the little button on the side of the print server to enter search mode. In Windows 7 I tried adding a device but my computer can't find it.I suspect I may have to make some network connection or adjustments using my wifi modem. How to proceed?
View 7 Replies View RelatedYou have already checked all your settings and have done everything right. Your hard wired network connections work fine. When you go to wireless all your homegroup and network locations or most of them vanish with no resolution.Quick Solution: Make sure the time your router is keeping is the same as your network computers, including turning on Daylight Savings if applicable.Explanation:There are several threads on the internet about Windows 7 not finding workgroup or network printers or computers on wireless notebooks. This was after people painstakenly went through all the trouble shooters, turned off and restarted their firewalls and antivirus, rebooted and rebooted, reset and reset over and over again, checked all their settings and did everything right and still could not resolve their problem.
There is a likely resolution for this problem - at least it worked for me. It took me nearly a week to find this solution.Occasionally, when running the homegroup troubleshooter, I got the message that the time was not the same on all the network computers. I went around and checked all the computers and the time was the same - so why the message? However when I went to the router, I found that daylight savings was not turned on and the time the router was keeping was an hour different from everything else. Low and behold when I corrected the time on the router all the connection problems were resolved on the notebooks.
Im having a problem with my wifi connection. My router works just fine. I even enter facebook using the browser of my phone as well as our desktop computer. But in my laptop it cannot recognize the wifi. I restarted it many times, removes the battery in case and restart our router too. but its still not working i tried troubleshooting still not work.

View 11 Replies View RelatedOk so I just got a new computer and I ordered it with a wireless adapter card. The adapter was backordered so I used an ethernet cable until it arrived. I tested the connection speeds with testinternetspeed.org (legit or not idk. results were pretty consistent.) With just LAN i got 8Mbps download. With just the wireless i got 15Mbps. For the hell of it I tried it with both in. I got 45Mbps. With such a good connection I would love to keep it like that but my question is will this setup potentially harm my new PC?
