BSOD - Not Internet Connection, No Windows Firewall
Jul 1, 2012Two BSOD in less than two minutes and now strangely I don't have any internet connection (the troubleshoot center says it's because of "the diagnostic policy service is not running") and the windows firewall is down and is impossible to run again (Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings, Error code 0x8007042c).
I'm uploading the two dmp files with this post using another computer.

Mar 10, 2011Im having a problem with my wifi connection. My router works just fine. I even enter facebook using the browser of my phone as well as our desktop computer. But in my laptop it cannot recognize the wifi. I restarted it many times, removes the battery in case and restart our router too. but its still not working i tried troubleshooting still not work.

Nov 25, 2009My desktop has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from XP. I set up a home group at another location, then returned the desktop to my normal connection. The wireless card I used was a D-Link that is XP compatible only, and I found this out after attempting to install, then I checked on it later. I deleted the driver, and tried a Netgear WT111G USB wireless card. Install failed, and I went online to look for a compatible driver.
I downloaded a driver, installed it, and the wireless card was detected, but could not connect to the internet. Uninstalled the driver, and tried plugging into Ethernet, and cannot find my home connection. Can only get into network settings (home,work,public).
Has any one here heard about this problem after creating a homegroup? Trying to troubleshoot, but it's a specific problem I'm not familiar with as of yet.
The faulty drivers are no longer on the PC, but it's still unable to find a direct wired connection.
Windows 7 Updates And Installers Can't Find Internet Connection
Jun 4, 2012Running W7 Home Premium on HP Pavilion laptop. Also running Panda Internet Security 2012. Recently, it seems that when I try to install new programs or update programs already installed I get a response that an internet connection cannot be found. I have the ability to surf the net, and programs that automatically update themselves are working fine ie: Microsoft Security Updates, Panda, Firefox. Programs that fail to update/install new: Real Player, Google Earth, Malwarebytes and a couple of others. I've tried turning off the firewall to my Panda AV, but still have an issue.

Apr 13, 2012I did a system recover and it all went smooth until I actually booted up my computer. Now that I am here I cannot connect or find any wireless internet connects. I even tried a wired and it still wouldn't connect. I know I may have to update some drivers but is there anyway to do that without having the internet?

Nov 6, 2009I've installed a VNC client by Jaadu both on my win 7 64 system & my iPhone.
Everything went smoothly until I applied the FreeSSHd encryption program.
When I try to connect with the computer the iphone gets this error:
Connection Error:
connection refused. You may have a firewall blocking access. Please check your connection settings & try again.
Now FreeSSHd has forums, but for some reason I get get past the challenge textbox. I've tried several times with different browers. It just wont let me post a question there.
I've looked in the firewall section in the control panel, but I dont see anything about FreeSSHd to enable?
Any help or ideas?

Jun 23, 2010I have install server application on one machine(64 bit win 7). it is basically for licensing purpose on local area network. In windows firewall setting i created inbound rule for listening connection request i.e UDP port 5000 and outbound rule for broadcasting purpose.scenario:-I am using 64 bit windows 7 professional and windows firewall is on. when client application try to connect to server, it connect successfully but after 30-40 second connection to server lost and it lunch connection error and asking for reconnect.If i turn off firewall, every things are going as per my expectation.Note:- above scenario is working fine on window XP.

Mar 26, 2011I've tried both Comodo and ZA firewalls. I prefer either over Windows 7 built-in firewall. The problem I have is after installing either of these I have control issues with Network Discovery and File Sharing. More exactly, even though the system shows these two items are off and/or disabled (manually), Start> Computer> Network will start showing available computers to connect to, whereas, Windows 7 firewall will inform me that both items are turned off. I use a public WiFi so this is obviously not a good thing. How to deal with this 3rd party firewall/File Sharing issue? Is the fact that the 3rd party firewalls are blocking any connection attempts a sign that everything is okay? Or should I just stay with Windows 7 firewall?

Oct 19, 2009I have a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on a new hard drive.
I have only installed 5 programs. CorelDraw, Adobe Creative Suite CS3, Jing (screen capture utility) Webroot Antivirus -Anti-Spyware for Windows 7 and WIDCOMM Bluetooth software for Win 7.
I installed Corel and Adobe...rebooted ...everything was fine.
I installed Webroot and WIDCOMM...rebooted...absolutely no internet connection.
I uninstall WIDCOMM then reboot. Still no internet.
I uninstall Webroot then reboot. Still no internet.
I reboot and then turn off Windows Firewall...reboot again. I have internet.
I turn Windows Firewall back on and reboot. No internet.
I turn Windows Firewall back off, reboot. I have internet.
So, I do a System Restore to the point before I installed the Webroot and WIDCOMM software and I have internet and it works fine.
Why would either of these software effect windows firewall in such a way as to disable internet access?
Is there some setting that I need to change / allow or something inside of Windows Firewall? I find it odd that with the firewall disabled I am able to get on the internet, but with it enabled, I can't at all.

Jan 2, 2010i m on the Lenovo T61 with Ultimate edition. now i got problem with Windows Firewall, as in the screenshot. then I cannot connect to the Internet thru WiFi at all. I got connected but Identify Internet sth, then Internet not work.
Though I repair windows but no luck, but if i reinstall it, it worked but just restarted few times, it happens again.
i m nearly crazy now as i love Windows 7 for nearly 1/2 already till now i encountered this issue.
Allow Internet Explorer In Windows Firewall
May 6, 2009I changed the default rule for outgoing traffic so that erything that doesn't match a rule is blocked. That's okay, nothing can go out now. Then I add program rules allowing needed softs to access the internet freely. This works fine too, except for Internet Explorer. I can't get iexplore.exe or even ielowutil.exe access the internet without adding a rule for TCP 80.
If someone could explain it, I really don't understand why IExplore requires 2 rules to work while the first rules should allow him unrestricted access.

Firewall profile "normal":
- default configuration
Firewall profile "kiosk":
- software1.exe may access the internet using ports 1234 and 2345
- software2.exe may do outgoing connections only using port 3456
- software3.exe may do incoming connections only using port 4567
- all other programs may not access the internet at all; all other connections are blocked
Further, wwitching the profile (or changing the firwall configuration in general) should only be possible using admin rights.

Dec 1, 2009I am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?

Dec 5, 2011I am having a nightmare with my windows 7 64 bit home edition. It is running extremely slowly. I have lost the internet connection and the windows firewall has turned off and cannot be turned back on. Whenever I boot up i get the message "failed to connect to a windows server" The event viewer log is also unavailable. I have established that my internet is working on other machines. I have also attempted to reset winsock in safe mood. However this has not worked.I've had the system for about 9 months with no major problems. I have McAfee and have run windows defender and adaware so I am pretty sure it's not malware.

They say do you want to protect and get rid of the viruses and then they want me to buy something and I say no. But the popup still happen about every 2 minutes and it says JEMonster is found.
