is it possible to make a VPN connection over multiple internet connection ? if this is possible then you can make multiple connection transparent to other applications running on ur pc.
View 5 RepliesI'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a computer I built with an i7 920 CPU on an Asus P6T motherboard and 6GB of DDR3 ram. Every time I try to connect via Cat 5 wired DSL connection it adds an additional "Unidentified network (public network) and lists "Multiple networks under the middle icon on the Network and Sharing Center with a red X between that and the Internet. I have tried everything to get rid of the extra network but nothing has worked. It initially worked fine, but after getting a "critical update" it began to do this intermittently, now it does it all the time.

The first ISP router is 192.168.0.1 The second ISP router is 192.168.0.2 I want to know if I set 192.168.0.2 as a secondary default gateway in windows 7 pro. with metric 10. ( Tcp IP properties / advance TAB / bottom add another default gateway) will windows 7 pro, be able to tell if Router1 - 192.168.0.1 internet is down and it should start routing the traffic VIA Router-2 192.168.0.2. I had bad experience with routers that have multiple WAN port they never did the Job well. I want to know if I can use windows to solve the problem. also if Router1 is back online will it go back to it or stick to Router2 until it restarts? what exactly is Windows 7 Routing rules for multiple gateways if internet is down in one of them? If this is not the way to do it, what would be my 2nd option, and what type of router I should use.
*note if router1 internet is down, the router is still up and responding. just no internet connection

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?

The Windows Live mail has been working OK up until about two weeks ago. The first time I click on mail I'll get an error saying it can't make a connection with my isp mail sever, I'll close down and do it again and it works OK. Sometimes I'll get the error 2 or 3 times before it works, plus my password box keeps popping up every now and then. I've made sure it is set up right and my password is correct but it still continues to do it. Any one else having this problem, thinking of changing to Thunderbird cause it's getting very annoying. I'm using Windows Home Premium 64 bit.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am sure that I somehow messed this up big time. The Samsung Netbook is an N145 Plus. It works fine when hooked to the internet via cable. When I first started to hook up wifi I was given options such as who did I want to connect to etc. I think I need to reset the Home group/public places fields and try it again from the start. I'm not looking to use wireless for home at this time. I need to set this up for Public Places connection and tight security for my wife so that she can use this pc while she waits for her clients in court or doctors offices. I have never worked with wireless before and am really lost. I have an Atheros AR9825 adapter with updated software and drivers and an Asus USB N10 wifi antenna with current drivers in place.

All my wireless devices work fine, and when I turn off my laptop's WiFi card and plug it into the same router it works as well.I've done some Googleing on the issue and none of what I found has helped.When I do an ipconfig on each maching, the thing I notice is that on the working laptop I have an entry for the "Connection specific DNS suffix under the "Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection", where on the desktop that's not working the suffix is blank.

Two XP Home computers on my LAN connect OK. The new Windows 7 has problems.After assigning a static IP address of 186.192.2.8 to the Windows 7 computer I can share with the XP computers and sign in on the router. (I have not been able to get Windows 7 to share in the DHCP pool. This inability to obtain a DHCP address also happened on a previous Windows 7 build that I aborted due to mobo issues. Their too I had to assign a static IP address.)AVG Internet Suite firewall network 186.192.2.1 - 2.8 assigned as safe.I get a network picture of the Windows 7 computer connected to an unknown network (public) and a red X between the network and the internet.I tried to rename the unknown network "MSHOME" but have been unable to do so. I did not attempt to make a Windows 7 workgroup as I understand it would not work with this OS mixture.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is almost depressing is those that want faster speeds have more speed on one connection than I can get on both of my connections. I can't fathom why one would need that much speed, but I digress.In my case I live way, way out in the country, no cable, no DSL, I am stuck with satellite and tethering my smart phone. Now one might think the smart phone could solve it all, and true I have seen maintained speeds of 1600K with spikes over 2400K (saw almost 3000K once). Unfortunately those kinds of speeds are only reached in the very late evening and earlier morning hours (or if I am in town). During the day, while every once in a great while for a second it may hit those speeds, getting it to even give me an average 100K consistently, is a fantasy.Now, I also have satellite for my internet. And it speeds are decent for most things (on occation it get a bit slow), but they have this off the wall policy they call a fair usage policy (very dumb name for the policy). Basically if I use over 3GB of bandwidth (cost about $90/month) in a rolling 30 day window (not per month) they knock my speed back to about 80K till my usage for the rolling 30 day window is under 75% of my 3GB allowance. Basically I do not dare watch any videos or download anything more than a few MB in size, or I could end up stuck at horrendous speeds for a week or so.
So to make this all work I only do large downloads and watch videos using my phone. Usually I do downloads while I am sleeping, and if I wish to watch a movie, I have to do it late. But every once in while I will want to start a download at say 10am because its a fairly good chance it will be done before it gets to late. Or on occasion I have had large enough downloads that it takes longer than what I plan to be asleep for. So doing this means I have no, usable, internet access during the download. I have on several occasions tried enabling the satellite while a download on my phone was in progress but any attempts to access a web page would still go through my phones connection. Well today I found I needed a 200MB download and waiting on my phone was not an option (plus 200MB won't impact me too much) so I ran it on the satellite but while it was going I connected my phone and found all web site requests went through my phone, also a small update was found and it downloaded via the phone, all while the 200MB download continued on the satellite connection.So the question, is there a way that I can direct what connection is used? No matter what is connecting; IE, Firefox, Windows Update, Online Game, etc can I tell them which connection to use? I am not looking for load balancing, just to point a given activity to use a particular connection while simultaneously pointing another activity to use a different connection. So, for example, if I need a download I can use IE via the smart phone to download, while I use Firefox via the satellite to continue working.

Proceded to the internet sharing service to set to automatic... then set recoveries all to 0 seconds. on each machine the service stopped immediatly after starting. I write to inquire what have i missed in the proper configuration of this feature.

When i tried to connect to the internet with my broadband ADSL 2 (using netgear router / modem) it was seamless on the Mac OS but windows running on the mac will not recognize a connection. If I connect my ASUS to the ethernet cord, internet works just fine (running same software as the windows OS on my mac).

i simply turned on the option to reconnect when the connection goes down, every 10 seconds in this case and i make it so it does NOT have to ask for the phone number. The whole purpose is so that it reconnects itself when i'm not at the computer. It works, the problem is that every time i make a new connection, every time the computer starts, for instance, all these options turn back to default! I have to do it all over again every time i make a new connection! Wich is all the time!

My Internet co told me they were not seeing my linksys router and advised me to call linksys support for configuration. Linksys would not help me because the router is no longer under warranty. However, it appears to be working fine.All lights are on. When I lose the connection , if I disable and then enable my wireless network connection it immediately reconnects.It may hold for a minute or for several hours but eventually I have to repeat that action. I haven't changed the configuration of the router.
