I installed the driver. But when I logon using a standard user account and tried to connect to my wireless network, it asked if I allow the device to make changes to the system.How can I prevent this from happening? It looks like it tried to install something and need to elevate privilege.

The connection has 5 bars so I checked the event log, and here is what I found.Name resolution for the name teredo.ipv6.microsoft.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.I am using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit on a desktop pc with a built in linksys card.

When I went to start my computer after work yesterday it went to start up repair which could not fix the problem automatically. In the system recovery options, #1 didn't work as states, #2syastem restore says no points (there were lots prior), #3no back up image avail #4windows memory diagnostic says all cool until it restarts then back to start up repair, and #5;is where I sit.

The first time I click on mail I'll get an error saying it can't make a connection with my isp mail sever, I'll close down and do it again and it works OK. Sometimes I'll get the error 2 or 3 times before it works, plus my password box keeps popping up every now and then. I've made sure it is set up right and my password is correct but it still continues to do it. Any one else having this problem, thinking of changing to Thunderbird cause it's getting very annoying. View 1 Replies View RelatedI work at a school as Computer Applications Technology teacher.The students bring homework to school on their flashdrives, and though we have good antivirus software at school, the viruses on their home PC's will often do considerable damage to the data on their flashdrives.One of the most common problems we have is some virus that sets the "system" attribute on all folders, effectively hiding them, and then creating shortcuts named after those folders, inviting people to double-click them, thereby effectively installing the virus locally (though our antivirus blocks it). So the problem is that those folders (with their homework) can only be revealed by going into "Folder Options" and selecting "Show hidden files and folders" and removing the option to "Hide protected operating system files". This is a big breach in security.So I usually have to change those settings, run the Attrib command in the command line to change all the folders, and then re-enable the settings.All of this takes up valuable time.What I would like to know is, is there a way to give the attrib command once, thereby changing the attributes on all folders on a specific flashdrive? I played around with the /S /D and *.* settings, but couldn't accomplish anything.

When I first started to hook up wifi I was given options such as who did I want to connect to etc. I think I need to reset the Home group/public places fields and try it again from the start. I'm not looking to use wireless for home at this time. I need to set this up for Public Places connection and tight security for my wife so that she can use this pc while she waits for her clients in court or doctors offices. I have never worked with wireless before and am really lost. I have an Atheros AR9825 adapter with updated software and drivers and an Asus USB N10 wifi antenna with current drivers in place.

I can't get my laptop to wake up by pressing keys on the keyboard or by clicking the mouse. The only way I can get it out of standby is to press a key on the actual laptop or click something with the laptop's built it touchpad.
I already tried looking in Device Manager but there is no Power Management tab for the keyboard or the mouse. There is only a Power Management tab on the laptop's built in keyboard and touchpad.
It's kind of annoying not being able to use the wireless devices to wake up the computer. I've read around that maybe it's because since the computer is on standby, the wireless keyboard and mouse's USB receiver aren't being powered by the laptop.
Im living in a dorm right now, and the campus wi-fi is disgustingly slow, so a group of us got a linksys router for the dorm. I set it up so it would not broadcast the SSID, but other computers not connected to the network still see a "other network" icon when choosing a wireless network. is there any way to remove that completely so there is no trace of the wireless network?

I tested the connection speeds with testinternetspeed.org (legit or not idk. results were pretty consistent.) With just LAN i got 8Mbps download. With just the wireless i got 15Mbps. For the hell of it I tried it with both in. I got 45Mbps. With such a good connection I would love to keep it like that but my question is will this setup potentially harm my new PC?

I'd like to optimise windows such that it doesn't look for networks when I start up. I'd like to choose myself when to be signed in to network and when not to, just like I can open a program and then close it. At the moment if I disconnect my wifi connection it looks for a new automatically, and finds the very same and logs in to that one again.

I have a bunch of stuff on the wireless network, but it seems my laptop is the only one causing a problem. I have a Wireless Trendnet TEW-432BRP router. My wireless internet connection keeps dropping every 30 minutes. After it drops it usually reconnects by it self in like 1minute.
