I'd like to optimise windows such that it doesn't look for networks when I start up. I'd like to choose myself when to be signed in to network and when not to, just like I can open a program and then close it. At the moment if I disconnect my wifi connection it looks for a new automatically, and finds the very same and logs in to that one again.

I have it set up to sign in automatically, but when I start the computer or re-boot, it comes back to the sign in screen and the "sign in automatically box in not checked" There fore,it will not sign in automatically. I have searched every thing I know how to check and nothing helps. Is this fixable?

I set it up so it would not broadcast the SSID, but other computers not connected to the network still see a "other network" icon when choosing a wireless network. is there any way to remove that completely so there is no trace of the wireless network?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell laptop running Win 7 Professional. There are two wireless networks that I regularly use. One is at work (a large university with a huge wireless setup) and one at home. Both networks are set to automatically connect on my computer. If I only use one of these networks for a period of time, I have no access problems. If I log off or shut down the computer, or whatever, when I come back the computer immediately connects to the network.However, if I go from one network to the other, I have to enter the access key the first time I try to use the "new" network. I have to select the network from the list of available networks, and when I do, the "automatically connect" box is visible and checked, but it has not automatically connected. It is as though enterning the key for one network removes the key for the other.This happens on other wireless networks also, such as the one at my son's house, so it is not just the two networks I use most often. Also, my old Vista laptop had no problem recognizing and connecting to any of these networks automatically.

I choose "Automatically Connect" checkbox when I connect but nothing happens as well as when I put my pc to Sleep or Hibernate.... and everytime I need to manually connect and write my WPA2 password !!! Yes I Know that you 'd tell me "remove password" or "run in safe mode with networking" or "disable UAC" but i already done these and i'm the admin of the PC !! I have Thunderbird which checks all my email addresses at startup but it says "cannot connect" so i started to check out my wireless. My wireless says it has "limited access" to my network, says it is "not connected" and when I check the wireless status, it would say that it isn't connected to the IPv4 and IPv6, all while being connected for "00:01:30+"
Then after several minutes, it would just start identifying and connect to the network/internet real fast out of nowhere. My wireless is a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection
Also, I have a VMware to run Ubuntu which bridges the internet to go online, if this helps. (I cannot uninstall since it took me 4 weeks to get it running)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate. I always have ran Malwarebytes Daily and RegCure.I had a trojan make it past Malwarebytes so I decided to give Avast a try. Didnt like Avast so I uninstalled it and went back with Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes didnt get it out, so I have Hitman Pro when I need it. Got the 2012 Trojan out. Now when windows loads it fails to load my Proxy Settings. Then I run the troubleshooter and it tells me this: Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings So I tried all the netsh resets and it didnt help. Tried winsock. Nothing helped. Went into DevManager and nothing is grayed and no exclamations.I uninstalled the drivers for the net card and wifi card and restarted to let them reinstall. Nothing still. I opened Network Connections, NOTHING shows up. I also overwrote the Sys32 file nlasvc.dll and nothing happened.

Although there gone I had just booted my laptop and it wont let me connect to the internet. It said limited access on the icon. I troubleshooted the windows network diagnostics and it said this. Problem found windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings. Whatever I try to run as administrator it will come up with an error saying
C:/Windows/system32/cmd.exe <-that was an example the name changes for different items.
I basically cant use it at all now. I go to the control panel and click right click properties to disable and it will come up with the same error. It also said windows has encountered an error saving the wireless profile specific error: the data is invalid.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Logitech DiNovo Edge Wireless Keyboard and a Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse.
I can't get my laptop to wake up by pressing keys on the keyboard or by clicking the mouse. The only way I can get it out of standby is to press a key on the actual laptop or click something with the laptop's built it touchpad.
I already tried looking in Device Manager but there is no Power Management tab for the keyboard or the mouse. There is only a Power Management tab on the laptop's built in keyboard and touchpad.
It's kind of annoying not being able to use the wireless devices to wake up the computer. I've read around that maybe it's because since the computer is on standby, the wireless keyboard and mouse's USB receiver aren't being powered by the laptop.
I installed the driver. But when I logon using a standard user account and tried to connect to my wireless network, it asked if I allow the device to make changes to the system.How can I prevent this from happening? It looks like it tried to install something and need to elevate privilege.
