i have windows 7 ultimate, although i have the connect automatically checked evry time i reboot i have to put the network key in. dongle is a billion and router bthomehub2, any help appreciated drives me mad trying to remember network key all the time.
View 1 RepliesI have a Dell laptop running Win 7 Professional. There are two wireless networks that I regularly use. One is at work (a large university with a huge wireless setup) and one at home. Both networks are set to automatically connect on my computer. If I only use one of these networks for a period of time, I have no access problems. If I log off or shut down the computer, or whatever, when I come back the computer immediately connects to the network.However, if I go from one network to the other, I have to enter the access key the first time I try to use the "new" network. I have to select the network from the list of available networks, and when I do, the "automatically connect" box is visible and checked, but it has not automatically connected. It is as though enterning the key for one network removes the key for the other.This happens on other wireless networks also, such as the one at my son's house, so it is not just the two networks I use most often. Also, my old Vista laptop had no problem recognizing and connecting to any of these networks automatically.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've setup my father's notebook (Win 7 32Bit) to connect via WLAN to the router. Another notebook is already running on that router (did not tried it parallel at the same time yet).
I've setup SSID (I've made it visible at the router for the initial connection), WPA2 & TKIP incl. password. Router allows additional WLAN devices, IP/DNS etc. should be set by the router.
Automatic connection does not connect to the router. Manual connection seems to work, but shortly after "connecting" I'll get a message to input user and password. I have not seen such a screen in conjunction with WLAN connection before (and I've set-up several devices at different routers). I've tried user and password of the user logged into windows, but this did not work.
Every time i turn off my computer and turn it back on the connection says that it has networks available. But, since i have a long security key, it is very tedious to type it in every time i start up my computer.

The problem I'm having is when I log my computer off, or put the computer into sleep mode. After logging back on to my laptop it won't connect back to the router. I always get the orange star sign over the signal bars.If I try to re-connect by clicking on the signal bars in the bottom right hand side of the screen it won't connect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm encountering a very frustrating problem connecting to my office PC (which is Windows 7 Professional). No matter what client I use (Windows 7 built in remote desktop from a W7HP machine, Remote Desktop Client on Android, etc.) when I log on to the host machine it re-logs me on. Basically it seems to kill the previous log on session, logs it off, and then logs me in anew. This is really annoying. It closes all open apps and makes me reopen them. It takes much longer than a usual connection. I can't seem to find any reason for why this might happen, the only difference between this and the thousands of connections I've made over the years using RDP is that this is being done over our work VPN (A SonicWall VPN client). I don't see why that would make any difference but it's the only variable.

Now i dont manage that it automatically connects to the internet when i boot the pc. i tried everything in network and connection center-as well dropped the connection shortcut into autostart folder... I have Thunderbird which checks all my email addresses at startup but it says "cannot connect" so i started to check out my wireless. My wireless says it has "limited access" to my network, says it is "not connected" and when I check the wireless status, it would say that it isn't connected to the IPv4 and IPv6, all while being connected for "00:01:30+"
Then after several minutes, it would just start identifying and connect to the network/internet real fast out of nowhere. My wireless is a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection
Also, I have a VMware to run Ubuntu which bridges the internet to go online, if this helps. (I cannot uninstall since it took me 4 weeks to get it running)
Whenever I turn network discovery on and click save changes, I go right back to edit advanced sharing settings to find that it has set itself back to off automatically.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Ultimate. I always have ran Malwarebytes Daily and RegCure.I had a trojan make it past Malwarebytes so I decided to give Avast a try. Didnt like Avast so I uninstalled it and went back with Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes didnt get it out, so I have Hitman Pro when I need it. Got the 2012 Trojan out. Now when windows loads it fails to load my Proxy Settings. Then I run the troubleshooter and it tells me this: Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings So I tried all the netsh resets and it didnt help. Tried winsock. Nothing helped. Went into DevManager and nothing is grayed and no exclamations.I uninstalled the drivers for the net card and wifi card and restarted to let them reinstall. Nothing still. I opened Network Connections, NOTHING shows up. I also overwrote the Sys32 file nlasvc.dll and nothing happened.

I'd like to choose myself when to be signed in to network and when not to, just like I can open a program and then close it. Although there gone I had just booted my laptop and it wont let me connect to the internet. It said limited access on the icon. I troubleshooted the windows network diagnostics and it said this. Problem found windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings. Whatever I try to run as administrator it will come up with an error saying
C:/Windows/system32/cmd.exe <-that was an example the name changes for different items.
I basically cant use it at all now. I go to the control panel and click right click properties to disable and it will come up with the same error. It also said windows has encountered an error saving the wireless profile specific error: the data is invalid.
When using windows 7, there's the option of connecting automatically to the wireless router. If I take my laptop to a friend's house and select automatically connect there, will that delete my own router's details at home?

Windows reports 'No connections are available' and Occasionally jumps to 'identifying network' then back to 'No connections are available' until it gets a connection. Once connected everything works perfectly until i reboot the machine. The network connection is fine as other computers can connect quickly without problems through the same cable.
