Can I make the keyboard backlight light up automatically? At every restart at least!
I would like to make it light up between 6 pm to 6 am, and not light up between 6 am to 6 pm , but all I want for now is to light up at every restart.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using the Windows 7 Beta 7100. My kid play games and now my Key Board is no longer respond (to type) and the Number Lock light is Green. I could not do anything to turn it Off (number lock). The PC is working fine, by using the mounse.Is there a shortcut key i can hit to get the control back on my Key Board? Also if i click on the shortcut icon, normally it will open the application or folder, now it is open the Properties.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe most visible sympton is at the bottom right of the screen where the little icon keyboard is, net to the langage (me "FR" as "French). Well for some reason it starts to blink. And then I can't do things right. The start menu doesn't stay open, it closes automatically. The preview images when you have many windows open from a program close themselves before I can select any. And littme annoying stuff. And sometimes, it's like all the screen is blinking, in Firefox. Other odd behavior : the cursor unfocus from pages while it blinks, if you want to go down on a page, well you have to click again the page to be able to control.Sometimes it's all the time, you can't even scroll to a document or a web page...I'm running windows 7 x64.

Everything else works fine so i just need to know how to shut off the backlight so i can hookup external monitor to keep using it.It was the 199.00 laptop from walmart last black friday.i tried google and emachine website and could not find an answer.I know usally it is a combo of a couple keys pressed at the same time.

If you have a webcam attached to your desktop computer then there’s a good chance it’s either sitting around gathering dust or taking hourly pictures of your uneventful window. One way or another, getting any value out of it when you’re not video chatting would be a nice bonus. Now with Windows 7’s Sensors API and a neat application, not only could it be productive but your eyes might thank you for it.
One of the more interesting entries into the Windows 7 “Code 7 Contest” is an application called “BLUntrl”. This conceptually simple but highly practical application lets you do on your desktop what newer model laptops also do – automatic backlight control.
However since desktops don’t have ambient light sensors built-in, this application turns your webcam into one through the “magic of software” and then hooks into the native Windows 7 Sensors API and the monitor configuration APIs to adjust the backlight of all your attached monitors for optimal brightness, according to ambient lighting conditions.
Anyone who use a computer near a window can easily testify how much lighting conditions can change and affect the readability of monitors. Also, night owls like myself will also know just how glaring a brightened monitor can be in a dark room. In both cases, adjusting the brightness can help.
In the accompanying video submitted by the developer he also suggests building in a feature that can detect motion using the webcams which perhaps could be used to intuitively suspend the monitors if the user leaves the desk. more & video demonstration.
Ive got a samsung R710 Laptop and windows 7 works great, but the vista drivers for the FN functions dont work correctly and im unable to change the backlight dimmness using the keys or using the operating system settings. I wondered if anyone else had found anymore drivers? Theres nothing on the samsung website.

I can't get my laptop to wake up by pressing keys on the keyboard or by clicking the mouse. The only way I can get it out of standby is to press a key on the actual laptop or click something with the laptop's built it touchpad.
I already tried looking in Device Manager but there is no Power Management tab for the keyboard or the mouse. There is only a Power Management tab on the laptop's built in keyboard and touchpad.
It's kind of annoying not being able to use the wireless devices to wake up the computer. I've read around that maybe it's because since the computer is on standby, the wireless keyboard and mouse's USB receiver aren't being powered by the laptop.
I wanted to use my 180gb ssd as a boot drive and I do not know what to do. I installed windows and some drivers on the hdd but i want to start over and I need some guidance.I am doing a clean install now. once thats done how do i make the ssd the boot drive to make my system scream! also will i need to put drivers on both hdd and ssd?

This is the first time I'm using Windows 7.My HDD light on the laptop keeps blinking, even when I'm not doing anything, just staring at the desktop. I don't notice anything on the performance, everything seems to run fineOne thing I was immediately aware of is how Windows 7 seems to run a lot of processes in the background; indexing, defragging, etc... I have turned these off, along with stuff like WDefender,Firewall, my hdd light still keeps blinking.I have also noticed that googling this issue reveals lots of results with mixed replies. Some say HDD light is supposed to be blinking and/or this is completely normal, others say it might be an issue.Just as I was writing this, I also downloaded a gadget for monitoring hdd: Drives Meter. Looking at the graph, the hdd doesn't seem to be doing much. It usually stays on %0, just some little activity here and there... Yet the light is blinking on a heartbeat rate. Bear in mind, I am running Comodo+Eset at the background; however, for comparison, on my PC (running XP Pro) which also runs Comodo+Eset, there is no blinking whatsoever.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy only way of watching my blu-rays is on my computer. I've been using PowerDVD 11 Ultra for a while without significant problems. I recently noticed, however, that it was stopping playback during movies, simply pausing and then crashing. I decided to reinstall in the hope of getting smooth playback. After doing so, I had a new problem: all blu-ray video was now very light, forcing all darks to be gray, instead. I should note that I have a Radeon 5770 card and Catalyst's video settings are disabled to allow the player to function without interference (Catalyst 12.6). Despite that, however, PDVD still just gives me gray blacks. I tried downloading TotalMedia Theater and WinDVD trial versions to find a program that works right. To my shock and horror, I have the exact same problem with them, too. What is wrong with the blu-ray playback that has caused programs to play incorrectly? I am convinced that the problem is not related to my computer. One moment, everything was fine. The next moment, everything was bugged. Please note that all other video looks perfect, whether it be DVD, video files, or online videos with my Catalyst settings applied to them.Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Does Blu-Ray software actually work right on computers? I noticed that the Cyberlink forums have plenty of people talking about this same issue happening with PDVD12. Considering that I had the exact problem with the other two programs, I think this goes beyond software developers.

Actually this text is pale grey as I type it.This seems to be "global" and no amount of fiddling in the apps themselves does any good. View 9 Replies View RelatedI pulled apart my HP dv6t 6000 Quad Edition last night to clean a year's worth of dust accumulation out of it. While I was quite impressed at how sturdy the construction of the laptop was (22 good, strong screws holding in the top cover alone), I put it back together and the orange indicator light is stuck ON (the one that says if the AC cable is plugged in or not) even if it's not plugged in! So, I pulled it back apart and re-checked the power connector cable, and everything was fine and in place. It goes on even if the laptop is turned off. As long as the battery is in, that orange light turns on.
The orange light is only supposed to come on if the AC is plugged in and the battery is charging. Also, if I plug in the AC cable, it light turns off. I never actually removed the power connector cable from the system board, so there's no way it got turned around. Could this be caused, however, if another plug somewhere got turned around? For further reference, here is the manual I used. [URL]. I went as far as removing the system board.
Items I did not remove are as follows:
Power button board
Fingerprint reader board
Speaker assemblies (front and back)
(My laptop has no bluetooth module, so that's irrelevant)
USB Board
Power connector cable
I have a dell Inspiron from 2010 desktop of and today when I turned it on it went through all the boot up sequence normally. I try to login but I can't the USB mouse or keyboard are lighting up since the mouse is a laser and the keyboard has the num lock light. I go to the back and check and see if my Ethernet light is on its off. I pulled out my USB and tried the one in the front no luck. When I enter bios the keyboard works. Also I turned off the computer holding the button unfortunately. I pulled the plug out and held the power button for 30 seconds to drain the on board battery. When I turned it back on I had no luck both the keyboard and mouse were not working and the Ethernet light is still off. One more thing my PSU has always had a small led on it it always lit up green and it still was.

There is no discernable differnce in the performance of windows and it boots and runs fine, it's just that the light is a bright neon blue colour and is very distracting!It happens from the moment my desktop appears or when being online like I am now typing this. I wanted to create a partition for games at the beggining of the 2nd drive (the left side) as i heard it increased performance to put games in anoher drive and at the beggining of the drive.Will it make difference to make a partition at the beginning or at the end of this drive when it comes to gaming performance?My cousin showed me one game in the same drive installed in the 1st of four partitions of a 500gb 7200rpm (the same i have) performing with 3-5 fps more than that game installed in the 4th partition of that same drive....
