How do I make the computer automatically sign into windows 7? I don't want to have to keep choosing what OS for it to go into (in this case vaio recovery ems). If in Bios I don't know what to choose to change it.
View 5 RepliesI'd like to optimise windows such that it doesn't look for networks when I start up. I'd like to choose myself when to be signed in to network and when not to, just like I can open a program and then close it. At the moment if I disconnect my wifi connection it looks for a new automatically, and finds the very same and logs in to that one again.

I have it set up to sign in automatically, but when I start the computer or re-boot, it comes back to the sign in screen and the "sign in automatically box in not checked" There fore,it will not sign in automatically. I have searched every thing I know how to check and nothing helps. Is this fixable?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLate friday I attached a new NANO Ipod to my laptop to charge and load music. I left it for the day and when I returned later my computer had frozen, completely. I had to turn it off to restart. When it came back, I attempted to eject the Ipod, but got a message that siad it was still in use - I couldnt figure out what was using it and simply disconnected it, unplugging the USB. It subsequently froze again, and I re-powered it again, this time I got the mesasge that windows shut down incorrectly and needed to do a scan disc. And so it began.
It continued to cycle through the scan check, then go to my log in window, but nothing worked. No pointer, I couldnt put in my password, nothing. So I turned it off again, and again it went through the drill. eventually it was just cycling through the shots I've uploaded, restarting and going through again and again. I allowed it to run its scan(s) for more than 40 hours. When I returned last night my log in window was on, so i logged in. The welcome sign appeared and with it the spinning (I'm thinking) signal but nothing prevailed. It did this for 30 + minutes and I could do nothing else. No other buttons or commands have worked at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a toshiba laptop that runs windows 7 32bit home premium and it is not booting properly. When I turn it on t will show the microsoft logo and says "starting windows" but never gets past that point. I have tried all the fixes to no avail including, safe mode (will not boot into safe mode..starts to load but stops at drivers/atipcie.sys and sits there for a minute or two and goes to the repair startup recommended screen. I have tried startup repair and done it many times because I have read it can take several times (it says "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically") I have tried the windows repair disc using system restore but it says no restore points found, even though i know they are on my computer. All of my school files are on this computer and while I have some of there backed up on a external hard drive there are some more recent files that are not. What can I try without a clean install to try and repair this?

I made a mistake by downloading a windows something ware to boot up security. It then crash...so I went to task manager didnt work, which i then went to search and entered msconfig. I then chose safe mode in minimal services. It then says loading files. U see a black screen with thite letters of the files being loaded. Then u see ur mouse cursor, and then it boots up again and same process. So I tried launch startup repair, it launches a repair, but it says it startup cannot repair this computer automactically. I then result into going to tapping f8..it goes to the screen of advanced options. Problem is if i try safe mode it will crash. I dont have a backup, and i dont want to lose my movies of over 700 gigs.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy ASUS P8Z68-Vpro Windows 7(64) system will go to sleep manually (from the shutdown menu). I have power management set to turn off the monitor and go to sleep after one minute. After a minute the monitor turns off, but the computer fan keeps on going. (What used to happen is the computer would go to sleep, the fan would turn off, but then a second or two later the computer would wake up by itself. It's possible this has changed because I'm playing with various settings). In any event, I have never gotten it to go to sleep on its own and stay there.
Even when I tell it to go to sleep manually on rare occasions it has also woken up unprovoked. On the local area connection (Intel 82579) I've turned off all wake up things (Wake on lan, wake on link, etc.) I've allowed windows to sleep even when sharing multimedia. I've turned off wake on USB. The keyboard and mouse are now the only devices in the device manager that claim to have the ability to wake the computer up. I suspect the problem may be the D-Link DWA-556 wireless card (PCI slot), although it doesn't report that it has the ability to wake up the computer.
But a few times when I have gotten the computer to go to sleep I was able to wake it up merely by screwing the antenna into the connector on the back. Even though the wireless connection had been disabled from the network and sharing control panel. Does this indicate that my wireless card is defective, or is there some setting on it that I don't know about. Are there any other reasons the computer may not go to sleep or immediately wake up? (I have looked in the event viewer and haven't seen anything suspicious.) Does windows have a log somewhere that could tell me what is waking the computer up (or keeping it from sleeping.)
hey messed around with the computer and got the printer to work for a few days then it stopped working again. We decided to buy a new printer from HP thinking that would solve our problems. So I uninstalled the old software for the first printer and tried to install the new software for the new printer. I thought it would be an easy process but it didnt work so we once again had to call HP and ask them to set it up for us. Anyway, we got the printer working and that's where our trouble started. So I woke up the next morning and fired up the computer. It said that the computer did not shut down properly due to a driver and and went into the start-up repair process. After 5 min or so the computer was back to normally and working. As the days have gone by we keep having problems with the computer shutting down after long periods of non-use and saying that the computer didnt start up properly. And now the start-up repair has failed and says that start-up repair cannot repair the problem automatically. I get this response.I am thinking this problem may have been caused when I uninstalled the old software or installed the new software for the printer or its possible that we may have a virus

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a PC that I use as a media center attached to my TV running Windows 7 RC and it worked perfectly until about a week ago when I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 and placed them both in the same Homegroup. Every since then the Media Center will not enter standby mode either automatically, after 10 minutes as configured or from the MC remote control. To get it to enter standby I have to select "sleep" from the WMC "tasks" menu.
As it only happened since creating the Homegroup I am assuming it is something to do with that, but I may be wrong. The MC PC is set to the "Balanced" power profile.
Any ideas?

I have had this laptop approximately 3.5 years and have never had a problem until we returned from vacation a few weeks ago. I shut down my perfectly working computer and came back to beeping and auto-scroll. I have run virus scanners, registry cleaners, driver scanners, and pc cleaners and have yet to fix this problem. There is no pattern to the beeping, It will beep anywhere from 2-5 times at the Dell logo screen and then continually for approximately 100+ beeps at the Windows start screen before booting normally. My screen auto scrolls in all browsers as well as my email. I use Chrome and Thunderbird
