Two BSOD in less than two minutes and now strangely I don't have any internet connection (the troubleshoot center says it's because of "the diagnostic policy service is not running") and the windows firewall is down and is impossible to run again (Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings, Error code 0x8007042c).

Everything went smoothly until I applied the FreeSSHd encryption program.
When I try to connect with the computer the iphone gets this error:
Connection Error:
connection refused. You may have a firewall blocking access. Please check your connection settings & try again.
Now FreeSSHd has forums, but for some reason I get get past the challenge textbox. I've tried several times with different browers. It just wont let me post a question there.
I've looked in the firewall section in the control panel, but I dont see anything about FreeSSHd to enable?
Any help or ideas?
I have install server application on one machine(64 bit win 7). it is basically for licensing purpose on local area network. In windows firewall setting i created inbound rule for listening connection request i.e UDP port 5000 and outbound rule for broadcasting purpose.scenario:-I am using 64 bit windows 7 professional and windows firewall is on. when client application try to connect to server, it connect successfully but after 30-40 second connection to server lost and it lunch connection error and asking for reconnect.If i turn off firewall, every things are going as per my expectation.Note:- above scenario is working fine on window XP.

I have only installed 5 programs. CorelDraw, Adobe Creative Suite CS3, Jing (screen capture utility) Webroot Antivirus -Anti-Spyware for Windows 7 and WIDCOMM Bluetooth software for Win 7.
I installed Corel and Adobe...rebooted ...everything was fine.
I installed Webroot and WIDCOMM...rebooted...absolutely no internet connection.
I uninstall WIDCOMM then reboot. Still no internet.
I uninstall Webroot then reboot. Still no internet.
I reboot and then turn off Windows Firewall...reboot again. I have internet.
I turn Windows Firewall back on and reboot. No internet.
I turn Windows Firewall back off, reboot. I have internet.
So, I do a System Restore to the point before I installed the Webroot and WIDCOMM software and I have internet and it works fine.
Why would either of these software effect windows firewall in such a way as to disable internet access?
Is there some setting that I need to change / allow or something inside of Windows Firewall? I find it odd that with the firewall disabled I am able to get on the internet, but with it enabled, I can't at all.
I changed the default rule for outgoing traffic so that erything that doesn't match a rule is blocked. That's okay, nothing can go out now. Then I add program rules allowing needed softs to access the internet freely. This works fine too, except for Internet Explorer. I can't get iexplore.exe or even ielowutil.exe access the internet without adding a rule for TCP 80.
If someone could explain it, I really don't understand why IExplore requires 2 rules to work while the first rules should allow him unrestricted access.
when i surf the internet about 50% of the time i get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". And when i hit the troubleshoot tab it states "security or firewall settings might be blocking connection"

Firewall profile "normal":
- default configuration
Firewall profile "kiosk":
- software1.exe may access the internet using ports 1234 and 2345
- software2.exe may do outgoing connections only using port 3456
- software3.exe may do incoming connections only using port 4567
- all other programs may not access the internet at all; all other connections are blocked
Further, wwitching the profile (or changing the firwall configuration in general) should only be possible using admin rights.
I am having a nightmare with my windows 7 64 bit home edition. It is running extremely slowly. I have lost the internet connection and the windows firewall has turned off and cannot be turned back on. Whenever I boot up i get the message "failed to connect to a windows server" The event viewer log is also unavailable. I have established that my internet is working on other machines. I have also attempted to reset winsock in safe mood. However this has not worked.I've had the system for about 9 months with no major problems. I have McAfee and have run windows defender and adaware so I am pretty sure it's not malware.

The problem I have is after installing either of these I have control issues with Network Discovery and File Sharing. More exactly, even though the system shows these two items are off and/or disabled (manually), Start> Computer> Network will start showing available computers to connect to, whereas, Windows 7 firewall will inform me that both items are turned off. I use a public WiFi so this is obviously not a good thing. How to deal with this 3rd party firewall/File Sharing issue? Is the fact that the 3rd party firewalls are blocking any connection attempts a sign that everything is okay? Or should I just stay with Windows 7 firewall?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?
As of today, I am constantly getting a popup from the Internet Protection Firewall Alert saying I have serious threats and I keep saying "ignore". They say do you want to protect and get rid of the viruses and then they want me to buy something and I say no. But the popup still happen about every 2 minutes and it says JEMonster is found. I did run Super anitspyware yesterday, but that is all I've done. It did remove stuff from the registry. I can't even use the computer.

When i tried to connect to the internet with my broadband ADSL 2 (using netgear router / modem) it was seamless on the Mac OS but windows running on the mac will not recognize a connection. My Windows 7 Home premium keeps loosing my internet connection. I'm on Time Warner roadrunner high speed cable internet. The other computers in the household do not loose their connections, just the Win 7 one. I can reestablish the connection by doing a reboot or working through the network connection wizard. But, it's a pain in the butt to stop and reboot or spend 15 minutes working through the wizard. My computer is home built(me)with an athlon CPU and 4 megs of RAM. I have 2 other hard drives in this computer with other operating systems on them, Windows XP and Linux(Ubuntu)they do not drop the connection, just the Win 7 drive

The Windows 7 machine connects to the internet through a network adapter and gets its IP adress automatically and works perfectly both in xp and in 7. The Windows 7 machine is connected to the XP Machine via a second adapter (pci) and a crosslinked cable.
Before Windows 7 IN WINDOWS XP the 7 machine used an ip like 192.168.0.1 and ICS to give internet to the second machine (which got its ip automatically)
I tried a lot of things (ex. static fixed ips enable the computers to share files but not the internet connection) but i still keeps saying its an Unidentified Network / Public Network for the second connection (between the computers)
Note: - ICS is enabled for the internet connection.
- Back when both computers had XP the second XP computer obtained its IP Adress automatically and the internet was shared .. with 7 on the second (xp) computer doesnt aquire the right adress ever.
This is a problem that has happened to me a couple of times. Everyone else has connections in my house, even Wifi. I was cleaning my computer and when I was finished, it wasn't working. The thing is I wasn't touching anything besides my front computer fans. What could be the problem? When I go to device manager, it doesn't even show my router. All it shows is some NVidia nForce which doesn't have to do anything with my connection. One thing I do notice is that there is an "unknown device", which I think is my router. I can't update or do anything else because I have no connection. I even reinstalled my computer which usually fixed it.
