My Acer Aspire running Windows 7 and using an ethernet cable can't find an internet connection. It was working fine then I downloaded a pre-loaded version of Microsoft Office 10 suites and the next time I tried to get online the connection was gone. I didn't download the Office from the internet so I can't imagine it is a virus but I don't know what could have happened.

Although fan was not making any audible noise at all i thought of using Acer Aspire One Temperature Monitor and Fan Control software even though it mentioned to use the software at your own risk I installed it on my netbook.Now as soon as I ran it my fan speed increased 2 to 3 times the original speed. So, I uninstalled it and restarted my netbook. Now I am observing that even after uninstalling it my fan is running at a `faster speed(may be 1.5 times)` than when I had not installed it. why am I observing this behavior in fan speed and what can be done to reverse the effect of the software.

Wireless Internet with 'excellent' signal strength on internet

The problem I'm getting is that constantly now the laptop losing its internet connection (goes to limited connectivity) or cannot connect then when i try troubleshooting/diagnosing/open the network center as soon as i run the troubleshooting etc the laptop freezes then the only way it will work again is to turn it off and back on, I would then get an internet connection again, sometimes for half an hour but often no more than five minutes.
I'm pretty sure the wireless Internet is not the issue as the fault occurs exactly the same at
- My house
- Girlfriends house
- and has also happened when using a friends wireless at his place
So the same internet connection fault occurs at three separate connections which leads me to believe its the laptop playing up.
I just got this new laptop! And its running slow like its an old laptop, I have windows7 starter, [just putting that out there] So yeah it runs slow, and choppy, and freezes when I get on the website, and I have to wait for it unfreeze, and then load correctly.

Recently, it seems that when I try to install new programs or update programs already installed I get a response that an internet connection cannot be found. I have the ability to surf the net, and programs that automatically update themselves are working fine ie: Microsoft Security Updates, Panda, Firefox. Programs that fail to update/install new: Real Player, Google Earth, Malwarebytes and a couple of others. I've tried turning off the firewall to my Panda AV, but still have an issue.

So I did that but I am not sure all the updates worked properly as the machine shut down but never rebooted after finishing updates. After I turned it back on I tried to connect to the internet through my wireless router (which is working fine for other devices), nothing. So I tried a wired connection, nothing again. The wireless is finding my router it is just not hooking up to the internet. I tried ipconfig/all in the cmd prompt and all it shows is that the media is disconnected??? View 1 Replies View RelatedMy desktop has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from XP. I set up a home group at another location, then returned the desktop to my normal connection. The wireless card I used was a D-Link that is XP compatible only, and I found this out after attempting to install, then I checked on it later. I deleted the driver, and tried a Netgear WT111G USB wireless card. Install failed, and I went online to look for a compatible driver.
I downloaded a driver, installed it, and the wireless card was detected, but could not connect to the internet. Uninstalled the driver, and tried plugging into Ethernet, and cannot find my home connection. Can only get into network settings (home,work,public).
Has any one here heard about this problem after creating a homegroup? Trying to troubleshoot, but it's a specific problem I'm not familiar with as of yet.
The faulty drivers are no longer on the PC, but it's still unable to find a direct wired connection.
I did a system recover and it all went smooth until I actually booted up my computer. Now that I am here I cannot connect or find any wireless internet connects. I even tried a wired and it still wouldn't connect. I know I may have to update some drivers but is there anyway to do that without having the internet?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using an Acer Aspire 5517, running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1). While using it, every few minutes the system will hang. It becomes completely unresponsive and the cursor turns into a waiting icon (spinning circle) for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes before it becomes responsive again. It doesn't seem to matter what programs are running, I've seen it happen after a reboot while just using Windows Explorer. Norton Antivirus scans are clean. I also ran Malware Bytes, which cleaned up a few items but the problems persist. I'm not sure if there is other malware on the computer.
