Acer Aspire One Netbook Will Not Hookup To Wireless Or Wired Internet?
Aug 3, 2012
I just bought a used Acer Aspire One 10.1 netbook and I am having some issues. When I got it the pc needed 17 windows updates done. So I did that but I am not sure all the updates worked properly as the machine shut down but never rebooted after finishing updates. After I turned it back on I tried to connect to the internet through my wireless router (which is working fine for other devices), nothing. So I tried a wired connection, nothing again. The wireless is finding my router it is just not hooking up to the internet. I tried ipconfig/all in the cmd prompt and all it shows is that the media is disconnected??? Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? The compute seems to be functioning fine except for the internet
Recently my netbook took a turn for the worse. I turned it on one day and all it would do is reboot. I ran chkdsk, did memory checks, tried system restores. I did what process of elimination I could do, swapped the hard drive out (it's not the hard drive or a virus on it), I swapped the ram out, it wasn't the ram, I tried to flash the bios, it didn't work. All that ever happens is the system reboots, I see the black windows splash screen and then I'm immediately thrown back to the command prompts for starting from the last good start, etc
Not sure if this is where I should post this or not. A friend brought me their Acer Aspire one, I have tried to get it to boot, but it takes forever, then it gives a hi-low-hi-low beep that sounds like the European sirens. I put Windows 7 on a usb drive and set it to boot from the usb, but it still won't boot. It once came up with a option to repair the Windows 7, but it sat there for 10 minutes doing nothing, then started with the beeps again.
I just bought captioned lappy off ebay without OS. I want to install Win XP. It has no dvd drive and I don't have an external drive. I have Win XP pro on a cd, and 7 ultimate on a dvd and as well as it's image in my toshiba laptop. I actually intend to follow the instructions to dual boot but my question is how do i install the first OS on a netbook with no optical drive? Also I don't know if it has a restore from partition, I will check when I get home tonight, but I don't think so.

I have recently purchased acer netbook d270 and for changing desktop background I have done several registry change. Due to which my netbook starts slowing and sometimes crash. I cant undo my registry change. As I don't know how. But the problem is now I don't want to undo the registry. I want to do factory reset. It doesn't have any recovery management neither alt + f10 at startup shows option for factory reset.
can anyone explain to me on how to do this on my netbook? i tried it so many times installing xp on this bullshit netbook but still i don't know why I'm having hal.dll error. Maybe if someone can show me step by step guide for installing windows 7.
my buddy has a laptop issue when its a wired internet connection. when its wireless, it has no problems with the internet, everything works fine. but when its wired, webpages will still load, but Internet videos wont work, anything that consists of streaming doesn't work, and he cant even use logmein. i have connected other laptops to the same cord and there is no problems. so i know its not the cord and i imagine its not the router since everything still works fine with other computers.
I formatted both my laptop and desktop computer. When i did with my laptop, everything was great. Wireless still worked. Of course i have my linksys router connected to get the wireless.
I then formatted my desktop. Its a dell. When i did this, everything seemed great. However, i noticed that if i remove my wireless router and just connect my cable modem wired, it works. However, when i connect my wireless router, then my wireless internet works but my WIRED connection does not work. It has this message that says can't connect.
I don't think this has ever happened before. I mean, there were many times where my desktop got formatted and my wired internet worked and i could not get my wireless connection to work. But never had i had my wireless work and my wired connection not work. The one thing i did this time was after i installed the drivers with my windows cd, i then deleted the old windows file that was about 25 gb.
I've got an older Acer Timeline 4810t running Windows 7. We recently switched from Cox Cable internet to AT&T U-Verse, and I've started noticing that my internet connection will randomly go out when I am connected. This occurs whether I am on a wired or wireless connection. Specifically, I will be browsing the web and, randomly, when I try to pull up a website, I get an error indicating that I cannot connect to that website because I am not connected to the internet. When I check the status of my connection in the bottom right corner, it will show that I am connected to the internet. If I disconnect the ethernet cable (or disconnect and reconnect to the wifi network), the internet service is restored, although it continues to randomly lose connection.
I initially thought that it was a U-Verse issue, so AT&T came out and replaced the router. Unfortunately, I still got the random drops. I then thought it was a Windows issue, so I reformatted by hard drive and reinstalled Windows - still having that issue. My wife has an older Macbook and does not have this problem. We also do not have this problem with any of the tablets or phones that connect to the network wirelessly.I am beyond frustrated and do not know what to do. I also don't know if this is a sign that my laptop is at the end of its life, which would be unfortunate since I've only owned the laptop for about 3 years (my last laptop, a Dell, is on year 7 and still churning).
HeI am at wits end here trying to figure out how to fix this pc. A friend came to me with the Acer Aspire One D255E with a wireless internet issue. The PC is Running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit. I immediately thought "well there must be a switch that she turned off" There is no switch on the computer for the wireless card. I thought "well there must be a driver issue, Ill go to the device manager and update the driver for it". Then when I got to the device manager... Nothing shows up for a wireless lan card even existing in the laptop, but I know it does, because A) It's a "net Book" B) she was using the internet last week. So, I thought maybe it's not showing up because thee computer needs the drivers for it first, which is unusual, but since its windows 7 starter I thought it needed a kick in the rear to get it goin. So i downloaded all the drivers for the PC using a different computer, and installed the different drivers to see which one would work. Well none of them worked, and now im sitting here scratching my head on what to do next. I have scoured the web and seen a few other people with issues like this.
My Acer Aspire running Windows 7 and using an ethernet cable can't find an internet connection. It was working fine then I downloaded a pre-loaded version of Microsoft Office 10 suites and the next time I tried to get online the connection was gone. I didn't download the Office from the internet so I can't imagine it is a virus but I don't know what could have happened.
i recently bought a samsung n102s netbook. It came with windows 7 starter on it, on which wired and wireless connections worked fine. Then I installed windows 7 professional, on which I could get a wired connection, but only a very slow wireless one. Now, I've replaced professional with Windows 7 Ultimate, and my wireless connection works fine, but I can't get a wired connection. When I plug an ethernet cable in, the icon in the system tray doesn't change to the square "wired connection" one, it just stays with the wireless one. The "wired connection" icon appears briefly during startup, only to be replaced again by the wireless one.I've tried to update the drivers for the ethernet controller, which is type Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller, but to no avail; the wired connection is not picked up.
I accidentally reinstalled the wrong Operating System Recovery CD on my Acer Aspire 5534 laptop, and I want to return it back to factory settings. How do I do I restore it back to factory settings?

When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.
When I press down f10 and ALT at the same time during boot up from the factory recovery disk when seeing the splash screen, nothing happens and the 'acer laptap just boots from the regular hard drive as usual.
