I got Windows Ultimate and decided to let it install language packs I don't need (I didnt actually know they'd take a huge amount of space). Part way through the installation I cancel one of the language packs and the whole update finishes (This was a fresh install). Now in the history it says some of the language packs installed successfully but in "control panel>Change Display Language" there is only English.I'm quite sure a few language packs did install because the SSD free space was shrinking after every install.
Anybody know if during the RC other language packs will be available.
If not could I "Poodlefake" or Backport the language packs from the VISTA system.
I'd like to try the Icelandic pack so some of our "Normal" i.e non technical users back home can check / try Windows 7.
(Of course they all speak excellent English -- like most Scandanavian countries English is a mandatory language in Schools here and even as adults around 90% here speak it fluently but it would be nice to test Windows 7 in a "Working environment" away from the IT testing areas to see how it performs in day to day work. (Maybe not 100% mission critical stuff but for reasonably robust office situations).
I get error code 8007002 when I install language packs(English). I'm sure installed the English language pack on my computer and switch to English. After reboot my computer it show up original(Chinese language).Than I check my computer is show currently Display:English I try to switch to english again but can't find English language pack in my computer.Than I download it again and reinstall again.during install get a error code 8007002.I have tried the Microsoft suggested solution. (deleting Software Distribution, somthing like that)but still not work.
Have just switched to using MPC-HC from the trials and tribulations of using TMT and PowerDVD for DVD, Bluray, AVI and MKV playback.I have set MPC-HC as an external player in media browser for file types: - MKV, bluray, DVD, AVI.This works very well for MKV and other rips in "file mode" but I have many DVD or Bluray that are in ISO format.Since I already have Virtual Clone Drive set up to launch my ISO files, what I get when I choose an ISO in Media Browser is a media Centre window asking me with what I want to play the file. Options being, TMT3, Power DVD 11 or TMT5 and either of those options will launch the movie, however,Now I'm testing MPC-HC I want that to become one of the options in the list of players for the ISo.ow can I do this?
I have been installing Portuguese PhotoStory 3 on my windows 7 machine. It install OK. I reboot. When I invoke Photostory 3 I am expecting to find it in Portuguese, ... but its still in English.i used the official PhotoStory3Portuguese(Brazil).msi?Even if I install the Portuguese version, does it still look at the OS language when invoked and say "well, your OS is in English so I am going to display in English"?
Is it possible to have windows 7 language to be English UK but the keyboard language to be US?I want to setup my windows 7 language to be English UK, but I want my keyboard language to be US. Everytime I try to set my win7 language to be UK, it also changes my keyboard to UK as well and some of the keys like qoutes and @ and & sign are all messed up.
I have just downloaded lots of theme packs for Windows 7 and was wondering if there was a quicker way to install them apart from double clicking each one?
I deleted these before knowing they are necessary for removal of a service pack. Would system restore or an Aronis image of the system be better to recover these?
I have seen alot about no support for mkv in wmp and wmc on these and other Windows 7 threads/boards. I've seen solutions ranging from adding a complicated divx7(not a free codec) tool with necessary support, adding various codec packs, some crazy scripts and regedits with powershell, cmd etc. that can be disastrous with the slightest mistake.
First, if you want to find out the hard way that codec packs can be dangerous, install one. Some are probably better than others, maybe some even won't screw up your system?
But a prominent codec pack-(touted on these boards)- I tried-back when I was a newbie at multi-media playback-caused major system problems. At first it worked great! Then.......Wierd random icons started showing up for un-related programs, web pages, etc., various formats stopped working, program defaults changed by themselves-had to do a clean disk wipe and os install to correct it! Most claim to be minimalist but the point is, they can essentially take-over a system and cause major instability, freezes, etc. Maybe they work for you? Not judging, just suggesting.
my friend add new language as part of competition we have in our collage for how can make big customize on windows and she tell me that doing this is so hard !!! dose any one know how?? in windows 7
I've removed one of the language keyboard input in the settings but seems like it still appears in my language bar in desktop and it doubts me because everytime I have to shift twice to get back my input language into "EN" after using other language input.
I am about to purchase an asus laptop in Germany (with Windows 7 HP on). Now I know I can't change the system language (need windows ultimate for that) but I believe on Asus computers you can select English as the display language on the initial install (so each shop is telling me) and so i have read (which i don't really understand as why can you do this on ASus laptops only - surely windows is windows? ie you can or you can't!).
If this is true i was wondering just what will be changed into English (i.e. what exactly is the display language)? I gather the majority of menus etc will be in English, but what about if my laptop goes wrong and I have to start digging a bit deeper? Does anyone know if all the settings menus change so i'll be able toedit the registry if need be (just an example!).
After installing Windows 7 SP1, many applications and websites do not appear in English or any other language, but in some language which resembles Wingdings. MS Word, Notepad, websites appear in Wingdings. MS Excel is the only program to appear in English. After re-installing Win 7 (without SP1) everything is again in English. But, after installing SP1 again, same problem. I'd appreciate any thoughts, including which updates of SP1 I might be able to install without problems.
I wish to change the language of windows 7 from English to Polish, so that everything will be in polish language. do i have to get windows 7 in polish or i can do the changes in the english version?
I have bought a TOSHIBA laptop in Austria, the language's settings are in German, and now that i want to turn it to english, i can't find the solution because i have windows seven home premium 64 bits.Is there any solution or tricks to that problem please without buying another windows licence, i can't use it now because i have no idea about the language.

Work on a greek operating system but be able to boot say from a USB stick and boot into DOS mode to change the system language to engligh. Reboot and be able to work from the OS.
After fixing any issues then i'd need to change the lanuage back.
I just installed Windows 7 on a new laptop (QWERTY) for my wife. Generally we like it very much - but one problem has emerged. I'm pretty certain I know the cause, but I'd love it if the solution wasn't a complete uninstall/reinstall!When setting up Windows 7 I gave our location as France - primarily because that's where we live! One fairly rapid result was Windows 7 giving me a French keyboard, so I installed an English one, and got rid of the French.Another was some error messages in French, even though English is the selected language. But the real problem is in Excel. It won't recognise a number entered as 4.27 - it insists on the decimal point being a comma - 4,27 (as the French do, certainly with currency and probably with everything)
i would like to know how can i completly change my windows 7 language and not only keyboard language for example saying υπολογιστης (greek) than computer than control panel and all messages errors warnings all in greek.how can i do that?
