How To Repair Corrupted Dlls And Registry

Got a BSOD with STOP error C00021a. Unplugged all peripherals except mouse and KB. Ran an sfc scan, but not all file corruptions could be repaired. Looked at the cbs.log. Three entries keep repeating, but I cannot find the files to replace them with the original ones from the CAB folder on the installation disc. ps1xml exists in several places in the Registry. The value is Microsoft.PowerShellXMLData.1.
The offenders are as follows:

my computer, a toshiba satellite L655D-S5159, has been broken recently. At first, I got an infinite startup repair loop, because of a corrupted registry. I checked the registry files and they are all 256kb. I tried to run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /f /r, but that didn't do anything. Then I tried to run bootrec rebuildbcd, and now I'm getting error 0xc0000225 at startup.

I just looked at my environment PATH setting, and the only thing that's there is the path to UltraEdit.I was trying to install new software from a DVD (setup.exe at the outer layer), and it could not find any of the DLLs that were located in folder on the same DVD.How do I set up Windows 7 Pro 64 so that it will search inside this DVD, at least temporarily?

I have a HP mini, microsoft 2005 pretty sure its a Windows 7.Basically I pulled the battery out by accident at a bad time. I had left the laptop on all night. It has always been slow but when I opened it it was very very slow. I saw a sign from AVG, with a window box saying AVGDIUX.. an error message. I made a mistake and pulled out the battery. Now when I switch it on it only goes to a start up repair screen. It runs a check for problems, tells me it cannot fix it automatically and then offers to shut down the computer. Scan results are:
Number of repair attempts: 5
Session details
System Disk = DeviceHarddisk0
Windows directory = D:Windows
AutoChk Run = 0
Number of root causes = 1
[code]....
I switched it off and pressed F8 repeatedly at start up. I can get to the F8 screen with the different options. I tried to go to safe mode/safe mode with command prompts but automatically goes to the start up repair screen and then goes through the same process i.e. saying it is doing a check and then that it can`t fix it etc.

My 3Tb HDD recently started acting up. I use SSDs in a RAID0 to boot with and pretty much everything else, including desktop, downloads, documents, etc. are redirected to the HDD. It started with missing icons for shortcuts and then folders became inaccessible with an error message of "The file directory is corrupted or unreadable." The folders, that contained plenty of files, were reporting 0 content and more folders started to become affected.I restarted my computer hoping it was a temporary glitch but now windows is telling me the drive needs to be formatted. Disk Management reports the drive to be operational with 2794.52 GB RAW and Healthy (Primary Partition). I booted linux from a USB stick and was unable to mount the drive. Kaspersky Rescue Disk simply doesn't recognize the drive. Possibly the oddest thing, though, is that EaseUS Data Recovery software is reporting only about 770GBs for the partition. Whats strange about it is that's right around the amount of free space that was on the drive.
I haven't run a CHKDSK or checked for bad sectors yet because I'm hoping to try to recover the files if possible. I have backups of the important files but there's a huge amount of data that isn't backed up that I'd at least like to try to get to before reformatting or doing something else that will ruin any chance of recovery

My computer was installing the latest updates for windows 7 professional 64 bit and the battery died during the shut down process, and now when I start the computer it will allow me to log in but when it hits the desktop it freezes up completely. I have tried using the system restore but somehow my restore points cant be found anywhere and when I tried using the system repair option on the installation cd it says it cant because the problem is unfixable. The error it says it has is in the boot sector and it says the error code is 0x45d, but when I ran it a second time it didn't say that. I really don't want to deal with pulling off all of my personal files and then installing a fresh copy of windows because that would be too much of a hassle, but if i have to i will.

i have a corrupted registry on a windows 7 partition and I have another on working, so i wanted to know if there was a way to restore/fix/repair the registry of the corrupted partition from the partition working. Apparently the system protection wasn't on so I don't have saved files in "regback" and "system32/config". I'd be glad to give more informations if needed.

I have had the generic.win virus on my computer for a while now due to my anti virus program not being able to remove it. It has been causing internet browsing issues specifically with google and other search engines. However I believe that the virus has corrupted my "Windows repair tool" that is required to reformat my system. I start my computer and hold F8 to bring up the menu and select the repair computer option and it brings me to the menu where I can either "start windows normally" or run system repair tool.
When I try to run the system repair tool I know it is supposed to bring me to a menu to select language and what not and ultimately restore my computer. Unfortunately it just returns to the normal boot up and repair option over and over upon selecting the option. I just want a virus free computer. My system is a dell inspirion running 64 bit windows 7. I have backed up all the files.

Every time the computer is turned on or restarted it runs Starup Repair. When i look at the diagnosis it says 'boot critical file c:\ci.dll is corrupt'. I have already tried to restore the computer but i don't have the discs where i have backed up the computer. I have also run a virus scan with Avira and it did pick up 4 viruses and i removed them but the error still occurs.

My CD/DVD-Rom drive is unresponsive (it opens and closes normally) and does not show up on Device Manager.I read a guide that suggested that I have corrupted registry entries. It told me to delete UpperFilters and LowerFilters.I deleted the two entries (and possibly others in the same location).
Good news: I backed up my registry
Bad news: I backed up my ENTIRE registry (oops)
So far, everything appears to be the same... Except when I open iTunes I get an notice that says the registry settings needed to burn and import CDs are missing.I've been told that I can import the entire .reg backup and "hope that all goes well". It sounds rather sketchy and I am seeking better help.I've also been told that a wire could have come loose but I want to fix this registry problem before opening up my PC. I hope it doesn't come off as leaching by coming here solely for making a help thread.

I have had Win 7 installed for a while now).
Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

It seems my "Configuration Registry is corrupted".after much goggling the only fix I've found is using a repair disk or install disk to do that whole Bootrec /rebuild bcd thing. All good, this is what I would like to try. the cd drive is booting first. I put in my original windows 7 install disk OR my windows 7 repair disk (homemade), with either one, it boots straight to windows every single time. I thought maybe something was up with my repair disk or something so I remade one, same files, sizes, etc, all the same.I tried the install disk on another pc, works correctly. I can read/write to my cd's when I have the OS booted up.everything works 100% fine.As I said my OS works totally fine and I've been using it for a long time now. I wanted to disable DEP, and that's when I noticed the "Configuration registry corrupt" message.I downloaded easyBCD and it also confirmed the "Configuration registry corrupt" message and was unable to access it.

I have 3 corrupt installations of the same OS (Windows 7 U. 64 bit) in the same hard drive. I can't install any OS(es), and my original (working installation) no longer works. These corrupt installations are corrupt because windows installed incorrectly twice they left old windows instead of creating a windows.old file. When I try to start up any of these three installations, I get the same error: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."This also happens upon completion of reinstalling windows.I have tried to wipe the drive:most programs I see need windows to operate...I've tried a few programs that can be booted, DBAN boots, but I get the same error every time: That DBAN has encountered a non-fatal error and that the error is usually caused by damaged disks.

I'm having a very strange problem with my System32 folder. Basically if I move files into System32 I cannot open them while they are in there but once I move them back out I can open them again. For example I am trying to add some .dlls for a java library and they will open with programmers notepad fine on the desktop but as soon as I move them into System32 I get an error saying the files do not exist when I try and open them. But if I copy them back out again they will open fine again. ( A normal text file also has the same problem )I have access to another computer running Windows 7 Ultimate X86 and I didn't have the same issues. I did go through and compare permissions on System32 between the two and I couldn't really see a difference. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium X64.

Running windows 7 ultimate 32bit full retail.
Asus M4A77TD.
Radeon 3850.
AMD Phenom ii black edition.
2 x 2GB Patriot G2 PC3-10666 1333MHz.
Running Windows 7 for about 3-4 months after old motherboard died. System was idle for about 2 hours when screen went blank for about a second, then replaced by bluescreen.
"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.
The bugcheck was: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x0000109b, 0x08060017, 0x87d1d218).
A dump was saved in: C:WindowsMEMORY.DMP.
Report Id: 033112-16177-01."
Got this from event viewer. This has happened a couple of times intermittently, but let it go...til now, not sure if its the same error message, as this is the first time I got BSOD while system idle. Also, have had other erratic behaviour e.g.: while transferring large files to external drive transfer would stop leaving me thinking all done, this would happen when power options set to power down monitor after 30 minutes. Have set monitor to never sleep and problem solved, but maybe worth a mention here. Also, have noticed warning in event viewer, "dll's for all apps being loaded". Using avast free av, and noticed avast real time scanner going crazy with 100%...maybe its scanning all these dll's at that time but again not sure, just maybe worth a mention.

While windows was uploading some updates yesterday, I cleaned my registry using Iolo's system mechanic tool and that's where the problems started. (I already read and understood your message: don't use those tools and stay out of your registry. A lesson I learned too late, unfortunately.)My computer rebooted and after a couple of minutes I noticed the message: " failure configuring windows features reverting changes ". I managed to bypass this loop by running in safe mode and recover my computer to a restore point in the past. This only worked partially: I get windows to run in normal mode but I get this message: "system failed while restoring the registry from the restore point. Restore point damaged or was deleted during restore". So it didn't restore but I can get into my windows now.So I don't get the 'reverting change loop' anymore, so I can access my computer but what's the mess? Well my computer is slow as hell.Like mentioned above, I already looked around on this forum and wrote down what I already tried. [code] My computer is terrible slow because of a registry defrag/optimization of a registry tool (in combination with windows update) --> I need to find a way to get back my old registry files but system recovery ain't working.

I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".
