Have run eset and malware bytes in safe mode to no avail. Finally, tried system restore to an earlier date, have not yet turned computer on since then.

I am having a problem reading some CDs on my Win7 64 bit machine. On the ones which don't work the properties window shows it as empty and the disk checker says it is not formatted.. The program CDCheck says that the CD has Win32 type file system, and that this is not recognized by my system.
Is there any way of getting my system to read the Win32 file system CD?
When I boot I get the following; Cannot open NVCPL.DLL, not compatible with Win 32. Everything seems to be running fine. Should I do anything? I'm running Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit., with NVIDIA GeForce 210.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOn an avast scan it is detected 3 different win32:cycbot-KI infections. Two of the infections are in the sys\wow64\kernel32.dll (emul) and the third is in the sys\winsxs folder. I am unable to get avast to quarantine them and receive the message "error: virus chest server is not running" whenever I try to quarantine. I tried doing a boot scan but it was very slow and I received hundreds of error 0x80000006 (no more files) messages which I either quarantined or ignored (it prompted me for each one). I'm not sure that the boot scan did anything because after I ran it I still saw the 3 cycbot infections.

I get a BSOD/STOP error when streaming Hulu. The BSOD will appear after streaming roughly 10 minutes of video, then the system is set to restart so it will restart. After prompting safe mode etc. it will start as normal and we will be able to watch a video on Hulu plus all the way through with no errors [code] I moved files from an XP machine to this system using an external hard drive and Windows easy move (inbuilt Windows 7 wizard). I have used Lenovo's One Key recovery to recover the system but the BSOD still appears after a successful run. I do not remember if the BSOD occurred after the file move or right out of the box but I suspect that it was due to the file move. My IT guy at work has recommended a full system restore. I suppose I can search for a thread that explains such a procedure but wanted to know if a more knowledgeable person could come up with a different fix.In addition , and maybe related I cannot complete an update using Windows Update. I can download the updates just fine. But when it comes to applying them, the system will begin applying the updates with the progress bar, but after 2 minutes, I will receive a fail message everytime.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just discovered my DVD/CD drive is not working when I attempted to launch the windows 7 iso file 64bit.
So I used isobuster to extract the files to an external harddrive ( over 300 gig). However when I try to run the setup.exe file, I get the message "setup.exe is not a valid win32 app" - not sure why? My pc has 4 gig RAM and has AMD Athlon 64 processor?

Upon re-installing the language software I recieved a message stating "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."However, when I try to open the sxstrace a little black screen flashes on my computer for a split second and then disappears but won't bring it up.I vied my event logs and I see two different errors for the side by side. The first is event ID 33 and says activation context generation failed for C:/windows/installer/{67E03279-F703-408F-B4BF-46B5FC8D70CD}/WksWP.exe" Dependent Assembly msadctls, processor Architecture= 'x86", type="Win32", version="1.0.1801.0" could not be found. I have been using Thunderbird for my e-mail account. Somehow, Thunderbird was updated to 10.0. Now my e-mail texts are so small that I can barely read them. I downloaded an application that allowed me to increase the size of the fonts in the listing. However, the messages are still small. I tried setting the options to a larger font but that did not work. Two questions: Is there some way to increase the size of the text in both the email list and the messages. Two, can I just remove the new version and download an earlier version of Thunderbird. I don't know what version I was using, but I was perfectly satisfied with it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Win 7RC 32 onto a 160 GB hard disk which I partitioned. I allocated about 25 GB to C: system, and formatted the rest on to a D: drive for data. I've found that this may have been a mistake, as getting program installations to default over to D: are problematic (and not recommended by Microsoft, as per some previous threads I've read here).
And so I am running out of C space, and have several programs "manually" installed over to D. Quite frankly this is a pain, and I am about ready to throw in the towel and just try to extend the C drive. But maybe there is a way to avoid?
My question is this: what's my best approach to correct all this? Specifically, I'd like (if it is possible) for all my libraries/directories to default to D: so that I can readily reinstall Windows 7 (or downgrade) the C: System drive should it become necessary. This was my original goal and hope. I was able to have this with XP, although that was some time ago and I forgot the steps.
Anyone have an good suggestions for me, or should I just extend C: and give up this idea?
I ran into a small problem (not sure if its windows related at all).
I have a new monitor and resolution set to 1920x1080 but when I set a window, any browser or windows window, I miss about 50px on each side.
I'm always bothered with one thing. That when i write another name rather than Removable Disk, EVERYTHING STAYS IN CAPITAL LETTER.
How can i write in small letters , like Alex instead of ALEX.
I have just mounted a Samsung solid state drive 830 series in my Sony Vaio VGN-SZ laptop and have installed Windows 7 Home Premium. The screen size is too small. Maximum resolution obtainable is 1024x768. How can I increase the screen size?
