I have just mounted a Samsung solid state drive 830 series in my Sony Vaio VGN-SZ laptop and have installed Windows 7 Home Premium. The screen size is too small. Maximum resolution obtainable is 1024x768. How can I increase the screen size?
I've got multiple users and the icons on the welcome screen are small. I would like to increase their size, but I have not been able to find a way to do it.
I'm having this very strange problem on my PC which i recently formatted to start from scratch.I'm running Windows 7 64bit and everytime I open a page in a browser (IE, Firefox or Chrome) the actual page appears very small in the top left hand corner of the window...I'm also having this problem when using Skype.I get the feeling this may have something to do with my resolution....?I never used to have this problem before formatting.

I am trying to find the registry key that will change the desktop icon size to small.
This is mainly for new users, or for the default user. I have workstations that have several people sharing them and need this for everyone.
I have looked in these locations: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellBags1DesktopIconSize And HKey_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopWindowMetricsShell Icon Size I played with both these settings for myself, and the desktop icons do not change. If I reboot, the first key value goes back to 32, and the second key stays at 96. But my icons never change in size. I am looking for any way to do this in the registry. I could try copying the ntuser.dat but fear I will still have issues with paths, and other defaults that will cause the same problem I had originally.
I'm used to W7 remembering the last known positions of all of my open windows, but lately (and I can't recall what change may have prompted this) every window opens in a maximized state, and upon restoring it, always sizes down to the default window size, jammed right into the upper-left corner of the screen.
I have run into this problem before and maybe there is a simple way to address it but if so I'm in the dark (I hate when that happens). The problem is that my laptop screen is very small and, like the situation tonight and other nights - I am installing a program and I have to click "Accept" to finish up and I can't see the "Accept" Link. If I move the window I see it is there but I cannot access it with the window displayed normally.I don't see any scroll bar either on the side to allow me to move further down the page.
When I used to boot my computer it went to the Windows 7 screen with my username, large icon above it, and a spot to enter password below. Recently it started going to the same screen upon bootup, only now my username and icon are smaller than before and I must now click the small icon before it turns big, and then I can enter my password. how to go back to bypassing this annoying extra click before entering my password?
I am painstakingly trying to transfer some files by a flash memeory stick.Asked where I want them to be sent, I inadvertently pressed 'Picasa'. Now all I get is a small black screen with a message saying the image cannot be accepted. (Cannot remember exact phrasing).
I have an ergo AS2 all-in-one PC with built in Touchscreen Display on WIndows 7. All drivers are installed, and the touch screen is working, however the Mouse Pointer on screen is bugging the hell out of me.I have USB mouse plugged in as well, and when using the USB mouse, i get the default white arrow, but as soon as I use finger on the Touchscreen the Mouse pointer changes to a small diamond. When I take my finger of the screen, the mouse pointer dissappears alltogether (until the next time i touch or move the mouse)I want the touchscreen Mouse pointer to stay the same as the normal white arrow. I have tried all the options under Mouse settings and Pen and Touch, but none work.
after reformatting my windows 7, my sony laptop came up with a weird screen problem. I have updated/re-installed graphic cards etc and even reformatted and same problem. Before the reformatting it didn't use to happen.Basically this happens:Right after "Starting Windows" boot screen and animation finishes, It flashes a bunch of small colored dotted distortions at the top of the screen. It only flashes this once right before the Log in Screen. No other problems occur after that.Tried "No GUI Boot" still didnt fix it.I assume the backlight/inverter is failing?
I have the HP notebook I own adjusted to max resolution (1366 x 768)- "recommended". I have to scroll over to see everything, on any screen. Tried to adjust- other settings only make the screen larger. I want it smaller, so everthing fits on ONE normal page size- no scrolling required to see all of display.
I have just updated my Sony Vaio Laptop to windows 7 from xp home. Everything is working fine apart from the viewable window size. There is a black sourround around any viewable screen about an inch thick, I have tried to adjust the resolution and the max available is 1024 x 768. Font size is set to smaller but still this very annoying screen remains.
I have installed Team Fortress 2 and Combat Arms EU on to my Asus F7Se laptop with the Radeon HD 3400 series graphics card and when ever I run either game the screen resolution goes all screwy! It is like when you are watching a 4:3 TV program on a 16:9 TV.
All of my settings are correct within Windows and the game. I have noticed that when I start a game there is a message that windows is changing the theme back to basic (or something like that).
Yesterday I turned on my desktop PC and the desktop screen, all the icons and the toolbar was much larger than they have ever been before. I have searched the forums and they all say to change the screen resolution. I have checked this and it is 1024 x 768 and the dpi is 100% at 96. I have tried clicking the desktop and scrolling the mouse back too but nothing has worked. Another forum suggested upgrading the graphics driver which I did but that just made it worse so I uninstalled that. I also did a System Restore and that didn't work either.
When I open WMP12 with a shortcut, it opens a nearly full-size window in the center of my screen. When I open a wmv file such as I get with an email, the window that opens is in upper left corner of my screen and is about 2" square. I always drag it to nearly full-screen size and watch it and then close, hoping that it will retain the final size. Not so. I have looked for settings to correct this in both Windows and WMP, but have obviously missed something, as often happens. Suggestions?
I will be using my laptop in a variety of settings (Word, FB, IE browsing etc.) when suddenly the font will change size and become very small or the screen will become quite large and my scroll bars will completely disappear. I use the mouse pad and do not use a mouse. Is there a setting to change or am I doing something specific.
Windows 7 is taking the screen and reducing the size by 50%. It then shows two identicle screens on my laptop monitor. I checked my settings and it just recognizes the one laptop monitor. How do I make the screen full size and just show one of them?
i would like 2 know how u change the screen size on a casino game on the laptop. It's big in size & the very bottom where the screen cuts off shows the score. everything else on my laptop screen is good.
upgraded from vista to window 7. I play games like solitaire and just those small games. The screen size on games is only half my 24"screen now and cant get it proper even with screen resolution.
I changed the screen resolution to 1280 x 720, but that was too big, then I changed it to 1024 x 768, but that was too small. Is there a way I change customize the screen resolution to somewhere in between?
I was wondering if there is a way in which you can change the size of the user picture in the logon screen... What I mean here... is that, no matter the picture you use for it, the logon screen shows it at a "fixed" size... but sometimes, it is shown in a little frame, while in other PC's, you can see it bigger... I don't know if it's matter of resolutions... I hope I'm getting understood. is there a way to control or change that?See ya!!!
