I changed the screen resolution to 1280 x 720, but that was too big, then I changed it to 1024 x 768, but that was too small. Is there a way I change customize the screen resolution to somewhere in between?

I've tried creating a jpeg (the correct size) in windowssystem32oobeinfoackgrounds (saved as defaultBackground) and making a chage in the registry to:
HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Authentication>LogonUI>Background... Key OEMBackground value 1 ... but to no avail.
What is interesting is that the original MS background file ((bitmap) in system 32oobe) that is the welcome screen has security permissions on it .... with Adminstrators only having Read/Read and Execute ONLY... O.O
TrustedInstaller has full rights to it .
Any suggestions?

It's the same screen you see when you lock the computer -- horrible.
Any way to change this -- sometimes there is a way to add an OEM customization.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed Team Fortress 2 and Combat Arms EU on to my Asus F7Se laptop with the Radeon HD 3400 series graphics card and when ever I run either game the screen resolution goes all screwy! It is like when you are watching a 4:3 TV program on a 16:9 TV.
All of my settings are correct within Windows and the game. I have noticed that when I start a game there is a message that windows is changing the theme back to basic (or something like that).
Yesterday I turned on my desktop PC and the desktop screen, all the icons and the toolbar was much larger than they have ever been before. I have searched the forums and they all say to change the screen resolution. I have checked this and it is 1024 x 768 and the dpi is 100% at 96. I have tried clicking the desktop and scrolling the mouse back too but nothing has worked. Another forum suggested upgrading the graphics driver which I did but that just made it worse so I uninstalled that. I also did a System Restore and that didn't work either.

When I open a wmv file such as I get with an email, the window that opens is in upper left corner of my screen and is about 2" square. I always drag it to nearly full-screen size and watch it and then close, hoping that it will retain the final size. Not so. I use my primary mostly for browsing, msn, music players, Ventrilo etc etc,I want to use my secondary Monitor for gaming Watching Videos.However, when i want to use something Full screen on my secondary monitor it goes full screen on the primary monitor.
I cant also run it in windowed mode and stretch it out to full screen, it does not allow me to do that, it goes back to the size of my primary Monitor.
Ps.I want this since i play mostly with fullscreen borderless or in windowed mode so i can still browse the internet or adjust music/ventrillo settings. I dont want to have an Taskbar below the game, so thats why i need it on the Second Monitor.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI experience a serious reoccurring issue with Windows 7 window management. It happens 1 in 5 times when logging in after locking the screen (or putting the machine to standby).
Windows are restricted to a part of the whole desktop. Please note that the explorer window in the attached picture is maximized, but not occupying the whole desktop as expected! (In fact I can move windows to the right side, but not maximize to it. Also when moving windows there, it snaps *not* to the edge of the screen but to to the same wrong line where the edge of the maximized window is.)
What is this? What causes this? How can I disable this? Only restart helps by now..
