On an avast scan it is detected 3 different win32:cycbot-KI infections. Two of the infections are in the sys\wow64\kernel32.dll (emul) and the third is in the sys\winsxs folder. I am unable to get avast to quarantine them and receive the message "error: virus chest server is not running" whenever I try to quarantine. I tried doing a boot scan but it was very slow and I received hundreds of error 0x80000006 (no more files) messages which I either quarantined or ignored (it prompted me for each one). I'm not sure that the boot scan did anything because after I ran it I still saw the 3 cycbot infections.
For a couple days now, I haven't been able to update Avast or Windows Update. I tried reinstalling Avast but it did not work. I have tried everything. I scanned my PC with every major malware program but they don't detect anything. What should I do? I'm too scared to reinstall Windows 7. However, I will if I need too. I also want to format my disk in the process. How could I do this? Also, I am scared that I wont be able to find the drivers I need for my GPU and such if I reinstall and format my disk. Where can I find these drivers?
I have just purchesed norton gold 360 and it says that I need to uninstall avast to make it work. when I try to delete the folder it says "you require perrmission from laptop pc/laptop to make changes to this folder.
I've been testing AVAST 4.2 fairly rigorously on both VISTA X-64 and Windows 7 7100 X-64.
Straight from the MS site I downloaded the .VHD Virtual disks (XP compatability mode)
AVAST reports that the .VHD file contains a "COMPRESSION BOMB". Now this doesn't actually tell me what this is -- but the fact that it reports something with the word BOMB in it means it can't be good.
Now as this VHD file was downloaded from the official Microsoft site I assume it HAS to be OK (or does it - I would imagine MS regularly checks its own websites - there's plenty of people out there who'd jump at a chance of attacking a MS site if they could).
I'm going to download the XP comparability mode again and have another scan.
VISTA again reports the file as CLEAN) so I think there still might be a couple of things AVAST need to fix in Windows 7 when reading compressed or "archive" type files.
After downloading Avast Anti-virus software that I purchased, my Windows 7 Laptop was slower, and then, it would not shut down and froze. Now it stays frozen in the start-up screen, and does nothing. Could the installation of Avast have caused this, and what should I try now, beside the lake behind my house?
i have tried to remove avast av using control panel uninstall, revo uninstaller and tried stopping it at start up using msconfig.i just cannot get rid of it any ideas?
since yesterday my laptop has had no internet connection, although the router is on the Laptop will say its identifying the network. Its not a problem with my ISP or my router as my PSP, phone and PS3 can connect to the internet. This problem occurred when I got an error from Avast something like "Avast cannot monitor your mail (error 10050/1044) please check Avastvc.exe is not blocked by your personal firewall" First I had error 10050 then it went to error 1044.I've tried many CMD related solutions including a registery merge (winsock)
Edit:Also my web shield (on Avast) is down and I cannot turn it on.
Specs: Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit 1GB RAM Avast Internet Security 6.XXXXXX
Avast Internet Security tries to send me mail and everytime I get this"Multiple Content-Type header - HIGH DANGER!"So I get a blank email. How can I get a copy of my License file from them when this keeps happening? Is there something I can turn off so I can receive email from them?
I've downloaded the newest installation package several times and changed even between Home and Pro packages. Error stays the same, and as far as I've found out it's due to a network error. Has anyone else experienced the problem?

is it true if u got avast and if u dont do boot scans , your computer is not protected well. i got it on my laptop and it pisses me off because i have to respond to every threat it finds in boot scan. if i just do quick and full will that be okay.about mse some of my friends told me it detected nasty viruses from his computer.which one removes rootkits better, which one does not allow a virus to enter your computer, and rootkits ,which one will now allow privacy control virus , which one will not allow google redirect virus on my pc and remove it better if i do catch it.and Alureon E virus get to my pc becuase they are the ahrdest to remove.i tend to use torrents alot but i do read the comments.34 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. Report Abuse Additional Details also which one is better at protecting u from registry attacks becuase removing those is a pain for me.also, which one is better when a virus does not let u have access of a program.and which one is better at finding a vuirus, trojan becuase alot of them i heard disguise themselves as a normal file so they might be hard to catch
After the resent update of avast to version 7.0.1407 the windows take about 30 sec longer to boot!!! Also I take a look through the settings of avast and i find this two settings: "enable rootkit scan on system starup""enable raw disk access during avast! boot-time scan"I disable both of them, but still windows take about 30 sec longer to boot.
Avast was running out and was advised to go AVG free because it does its job and any system is easy enuf to infiltrate, no matter how much it costs or what it states it can prevent. Is there a download that is not a 29 day trial?
without warning the avast program stopped working, Per their tech support I have to pay $119 to have then clean up my computer so the Avast Pro can work again. Something to do with incompatibility with windows 7 and several broken files on my computer.
I am trying to uninstall the trail version of avast internet security but after restarting my computer it is giving the error of memory dump with blue screen and icould not start the pc normally... I have also tried to uninstall it using uninstall utility but am facing the same problem continously.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Computer is running well and installing new programs, but get the above message when I try to access any Administrative services and some other control panel programs. Have run following: in repair mode:
sfc scannow bootrec /fixMBR bootrec /fixBoot bootrec /rebuildBCD chkdsk c: /fix regsvr32 /i shell32.dll bootsec /nt60 c: /mbr number of anti-virus and anti-malware programs.
I am having a problem reading some CDs on my Win7 64 bit machine. On the ones which don't work the properties window shows it as empty and the disk checker says it is not formatted.. The program CDCheck says that the CD has Win32 type file system, and that this is not recognized by my system.
Is there any way of getting my system to read the Win32 file system CD?
When I boot I get the following; Cannot open NVCPL.DLL, not compatible with Win 32. Everything seems to be running fine. Should I do anything? I'm running Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit., with NVIDIA GeForce 210.
I have downloawaded a file and when i tired to clean my cumputer using Microsoft security essensial, it cannot remove hacktool win32 keygen, I have already run the DDS scan, but I don't know how to attach it here.
